~ John's POV

"Is he alive?" I breathed.

It felt like time slowed down. Waiting. Anticipating his answer. I held my breath. Paul could be alive. Or dead.

"He's alive."

.

.

.

.

That was everything I needed too hear. I let out that breath.

He was alive.

"Can I see him?"

The doctor nodded.

That was it. I ran into the room. And I saw him. He looked so tired. And weak. But still beautiful as always.

"Paul." I whispered. He turned to look at me. I rushed over to hug him. "I'm so glad you're alive." I let go of him to look at his face. He was crying. Hard.

"I-I'm so sorry John." He looked down. "I don't know what I was thinking."

I grabbed his hand. "Paulie. You don't need to be sorry. I know you had reasons for what you did. I'm just so happy that you're still here Paul."

He nodded. "I just feel so childish now. What will my Dad think? And what about- Oh god. Who found me?" He asked quiet scared.

"Mikey and I did." I whispered. "He ran over to my house after you wouldn't answer the door. I came over to help. I had to knock down your door... and then.. we saw you."

Paul nodded sadly.

"It was terrifying Macca. To see you there. I thought you were dead." I trembled.

"I'm sorry." Paul cried gently. "I didn't think it'd hurt you that bad."

"What do you mean? Of course it would hurt me! I-I.. lo--care about you. A lot."

" Thank you."

"For what?" I asked.

"For caring. Most people don't." He looked down sadly.

I cupped his face with my hands and pushed his face up took look at me.

"Well they should."

"W-What?" He asked.

"They should care. You're amazing Paul. You're talented, smart, kind. Everything that they should aspire to be." I smiled gently.

Paul blinked a few times. "Y-You really think that?"

"Of course! You're wonderful Paulie. Just wonderful." I smiled.

"Thank you John. You're a great friend." He smiled back.

Friend. friend. friend. friend. That hurt.

Then a doctor came in. "Paul has to stay the night, but tomorrow he should be able to go home!"

We both smiled. "Alrighty then."

The night went by fast. Paul talked to Mike. They hugged and talked everything over. Paul I talked for hours before the doctor made me go home. I came back to the hospital bright and early the next day to get Paul. They checked him to make sure everything was alright and then they let him leave. We were walking home when..

"Thanks for everything John." Paul smiled.

"No problem Macca... But can we talk about something?" I asked.

"Of course. What?" He replied.

"Strawberry Fields..." I said reluctantly.

Silence.

.

.

.

"I'm sorry!" We both said at the same time.

"Huh?" He asked

"I'm sorry for kissing you..." I said quietly.

"O-Oh."

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"W-Well I was going to say sorry for running away." He said ashamed.

"You don't have to be sorry. I shouldn't have done that to you." I replied.

"John.."

"No it was wrong."

"John!"

"I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable." I said closing my eyes. I heard a huff from Paul.

That's when I felt his lips on mine. I was surprised. But I kissed back. And yes.

It was like everyone says. There were fireworks and it was amazing. It was defiantly the best kiss I've ever had. It was filled with love and passion. His lips felt like velvet. They were soft and plump. I loved it. We kissed for a while before Paul finally pulled away breathing heavily.

I smiled at him. I looked into his eyes before he shyly looked away.

"You're really beautiful you know that?" I said.

Paul blushed.

"Come on let's go home Paulie." I smiled.

"Alright." He nodded.

We walked home together holding hands. We got to his front door. But Paul paused before grabbing the door knob.

"What about my dad?" He asked timidly.

"I mean you can stay with me for while if you want to." I offered hopefully.

"I'd love to." He smiled.

And with that. Paul no longer hesitated to open the door.

And I know that then and there, that was the moment. A moment that would open new possibilities for Paul and I. For once I could see a future between us. And that excited me.
