Chapter 5
15:33, 3 June 2025Percy learned a lot about Ancient Greece and some of the Greek mythologies from Annabeth.
Annabeth spoke about the Gods and Goddesses, she claims Athena is her favourite, along with Hestia. Percy thought Poseidon seemed quite chill, and he agreed with Annabeth that Hestia seemed pretty cool.
Annabeth spoke of the story of Perseus, she spoke of the tragedy of Orpheus and Eurydice, the tragedy of Patroclus and Achilles, and the tragedy between the God Apollo and his mortal lover Hyacinthus.
The nurse had come back and checked on the two of them, Annabeth claimed Percy had something to eat but he wasn't up for class and needed some company. The nurse didn't seem to want to believe that this was true and wanted to believe that they were ditching, but... he had said nothing.
All in all, Annabeth seemed pretty cool. Percy found out she knew Latin, and he was impressed that she taught herself Latin, especially with her dyslexia. They bonded over their hatred of the school schedule and how they couldn't read anything off of it.
Percy typically hated meeting new people. He hated it whenever someone would rant to him about something he had no clue about or would speak too fast about it.
But with Annabeth?
Percy felt at peace. Percy enjoyed listening to her speak, and he loved it when she would ask if she was going too fast or if he wanted her to repeat herself whenever he'd look confused at any point of the story. Annabeth was sweet. Percy couldn't remember the last time he clicked with someone so quickly.
Even with Grover, he was hesitant for a day or two, but they became close. With Annabeth, Percy felt like he could sit here for hours and just... listen to her speak.
Annabeth was now rambling on about something else but she cut herself off as she looked at Percy and she noticed how he looked at her. Annabeth felt her cheeks warm up and she smiled nervously, glancing away.
"Hah... I've been talking too much. I hope I haven't been boring you-!" Annabeth began. "What? No, no..." Percy shook his head. "No, you... I'm really fascinated by all of this. Seriously. It's so cool you know so much about Greek mythology." Annabeth blinked at Percy but her smile now became more genuine, more... pleased.
"I know a bit about Roman mythology and Norse mythology. My cousin is sort of into Norse mythology and vikings, so he's taught me a little bit about that!" Annabeth exclaimed. "I'd love to tell you more but-" Annabeth got interrupted by the bell ringing. "-it's the end of the day." Annabeth finished her sentence.
Percy blinked as Annabeth got up and grabbed her bag, slinging it over her shoulder."W-well, maybe you could give me your-?" Percy began, also getting up and standing in front of Annabeth."PERCY!!! OH MY GOD!! WHAT HAPPENED?!"Percy sucked in a breath as he looked over and saw Grover running in and towards him.
Annabeth glanced at Grover and then back at Percy."... I'll see you around, Perseus." Annabeth smiled at Percy.Percy felt his cheeks warm up as Annabeth called him Perseus."Yeah, see you, Annie." Percy smiled back.Annabeth's cheeks turned red and she rolled her eyes before she turned away and walked off, leaving Percy alone with Grover now.
"... Can I continue freaking out now?" Grover asked. Percy looked at Grover. "I'm fine." Percy smiled. "I just fainted, I think it's just cause I didn't eat much and apparently in biology we were watching this documentary and something just didn't sit right with me." Percy then began to walk off, Grover following alongside him.
"... So, who was that girl?""Oh, Annabeth Chase. She's in my bio class, and she just stuck around with me the whole time while we were here.""Uh-huh..."
