Chapter 33: Bonfire

06:44, 23 September 2020

"You alright?" He asks, my mood suddenly switching back as if everything was back to normal and someone definitely wasn't stalking me. "Yes..." I reply just as the maid returns with two cups of coffee in each hand. She places one in front of me and the other in Yoongi's hand. "Is you're place...easily accessible by anyone?" I ask, gazing around at all the nearby windows, wondering which one the stalker had seen me through. His brows furrow at my random question. "What sort of question is that? Are you thinking of sneaking over here at 1 am or something?" "No! Of course not!" I snap, crossing my arms and shooting him a glare. He just laughs it off, leaning over the back of the chair with his forearms pressing on the polished wood. "My family makes sure I have security everywhere I go. This house is no exception," he explains, taking his cup and sipping from the china. "And since you are now under my roof and my girlfriend, you are forever protected as well." "Forever?" I repeat, still glancing back and forth from several windows that stood tall and open. "Don't get your hopes up," he says bluntly, taking out his phone as he sips more coffee. I take the warm cup into my palms, slowly letting the warm drink coat my groggy throat. "You wish," I mutter, bringing my phone back to my view where I quickly block the caller yet again. 'How many numbers is this guy gonna try to use before all of them are blocked?'     "Don't be slow. I'll be waiting in the car," he says, setting down his cup and shoving his phone in his pocket while leaving the table and nearing the front door. I watch as he leaves, his usual button up and black jeans making me want to shove him off of that roof. 'I always forget how mean he actually is.'      Grabbing my bag, I follow him out the door and to his awaiting car. We drive to school and park in the usual spot near the other usual sports cars that belonged to his friends. Walking down the hall to my locker, I am immediately met up with Jiwoo who was full of questions. "So someone tried to break into your house and then Yoongi came to save you?" She repeats, twisting my words into some sort of a romance novel she was picturing in her head. "Don't go on about it. I slept in an entirely different room and then we went to school," I correct, organizing my textbooks as I do so. "I would rather die than sleep with Min Yoongi." 'I'd be dead twice then...' She sighs in defeat, clearly wanting to believe he came together my rescue when really I was the one that started it by calling him by mistake. "I wonder who tried to rob you last night..." she hums in thought. As she does so, Yoongi begins to pass us before stopping midway to find Jiwoo's head shooting up to the ceiling in space while I was trying to reach my novel in the back of my locker. I hear him silently scoff before going up to me and retrieving my book. "This what you were looking for?" He asks, a sly grin on his lips. I nod my hand, expecting him to hand it to me. His brown eyes glance back to my used book in his hand before reaching up higher and placing it on top of the lockers. "See you at lunch, Dea," he smiles in triumph, shoving his hands in his pockets and going back to strolling towards his first class. "Jerk!" I yell, crossing my arms as Jiwoo tries to hold back her laughs. Just as I do though, Tae stops in his tracks at the sight of my anger. His icy pearls eye the book on my locker that stood almost 2 feet taller than me. "It's his fault if I'm late for first period," I huff, stomping my foot angrily on the tiled floor. My soul almost left my body as the sight of an arm reaching up past me and the sudden feel of a body brushing against my back. I look up to see Tae's structured face looking straight while his hand retrieves my book. "Here," he says, forcing a small smile as he hands it to me. My knees grew weak as the feeling of his fingers brushing against my hand for a slight second before retreating back to his pockets. I watching him leave, his midnight hair and silver jewelry popping out at me as his body slightly swayed from one side to the next at each step. Jiwoo appears right beside me, watching as well. "That's a start," she sighs as he rounds the corner and Jimin appears approaching the hall with Jin. He locks eyes with her, resulting in the two turning bright pink. "So is that," I wink, nudging her arm while slamming my locker and making my way to first period seconds before the warning bell rings.

"Not your best," the teacher mumbles before placing my test upside down on my desk. I stare at the packet that took me forever to do yesterday. I wasn't great at learning other languages and it didn't help being in the same class as Tae who was just trying to get his last credit. Slowly peeking under the paper, I spot a big 59 out of 100 in red, crimson ink. 'Gosh, if I keep this up, I'll have to transfer to another school.' I leave the test upside down, not wanting to see my mistakes. My eyes dart to the desk beside mine to find a beautiful 100 percent on Tae's paper. I lean my head back in frustration. He notices this. "Did you study?" He asks, not looking up from his assignment he was working on already. "Of course I did," I reply, my tongue clicking in annoyance. "You'll want to raise your grade before the bonfire," a voice says behind me, allowing myself to turn around to find Jin reading his book as usual. 'How does he finish his homework so quickly?' "The what?" I reply, his hazel eyes looking up from his page to meet mine. "The whole high school throws a bonfire the weekend before homecoming week. The teachers have a firework show and it's by this nice lake that's actually not too bad," he explains, closing his book and crossing his arms while leaning forward closer towards me. "Most of us sneak a little alcohol there and it lasts a few hours before the buses take us home. But you have to have a gpa higher than 3.5 to go." 'A bonfire? What a perfect opportunity to talk to Tae again!'
