Chap 4 NSN

Bella's POV

The forest, even at night, was full of life. Owls hooted, rodents scurried for cover, and crickets made a perfect soundtrack for it all.

I didn't run so much as jump, duck, and skirt around the debris of the forest at full speed. My heart was pounding as I came within inches of trees and boulders.

Adrenaline pumping through my veins I couldn't believe I hadn't done this as soon as my plane landed.

All too soon the sound of crashing waves came to my hearing sensitive ears and with it the sound of male laughter.

I peered through the bushes at the group in front of the roaring bonfire. Someone spoke above the rest and they all fell silent. Then, as one, they looked over at me. I knew what they were seeing. My eyes were reflecting the light and I blinked slowly to freak them out a bit.

I disappeared into the thick brush and shifted back to put on my clothes. Once done I circled around. They were still staring at the bushes when I came up from behind.

"What are we staring at?" I asked innocently while plopping down on the drift wood bench.

Shouts and growls filled the air but I only laughed.

"Bella?" A tall, drastically handsome, fully muscled man called out from across the fire.

"Hey Jacob. Long time no see." I responded. "You finally filled out. I was beginning to worry you would always be a thin awkward adolescent." I teased. The other shifter wolves laughed and ribbed him a bit.

"Okay okay!" Jake called out and pushed them away. He sat next to me and pulled me into a hug.

His scent hasn't changed much and for that I was grateful.

"Bella!" A familiar voice rang out over the sound of crashing waves. Sam.

He came out of the darkness and lifted me up in his arms and bear hugged me.

Sam was the first wolf shifter and Charlie took him under his wing even though he could only shift into one animal form.

It was a real shame. I bet Sam would love to shift into a hawk. Fly around without a care.

"I heard you were back!"

"Yeah. Flew in yesterday. I had school today otherwise I would have seen you earlier." I explained.

"Well your here now. Who's up for a run?!" He asked the awaiting crowed. The boys howled and jumped around with excitement. "Try to keep up." He grinned down at me.

I scoffed but he was already running to the tree line. I paused once inside and started to take off my cloths. Another presence came around me and I growled out a warning.

"It's alright! I'm a friend." The voice was feminine.

A woman shifter came through the trees and smiled at me timidly.

My name is Leah. Would you mind if I ran with you. I've never met another girl wolf before." Leah's happiness drowned out my protest I was about to give about being mistaken for one fur.

Let her find out later.

"Don't bother me." I shrugged and shifted to a huge dark colored wolf, to match the rest of the pack.

Sam howled and we formed a unit with us girls weaving in-between the guys.

The adrenaline came on again and so I didn't see the cliff in time.

Another shot at writing this chapter and I don't think that it is as good as my original but oh well.
