LITTLE SMALL WARNING FOR LATER IN THE CHAPTER WHERE IT GETS A LITTLE HEATED JUST WARNING YA ENJOY
// Chapter Thirty Seven //
Standing with my arms across my chest, I watched curiously as Elijah lay various objects along a long wooden table. I cocked an eyebrow at Liam when I caught his eye, my curiosity peaked at what they now planned for me to do.
Liam had hinted just before we left the training room that this was the last thing that his siblings had planned to do with me until they would let me go home, so you could guess that I was eager for this to be over and just cuddle back in my bed back home.
"Come here, Brooklyn." Kol said sweetly, offering me a hand as he motioned towards the table that Elijah had finished preparing. I looked down at his hand before ignoring it and walking past him, not interested in courtesy or manners anymore.
"Let's just get this over with." I mumbled, placing both my hands on the beaten-up wooden table. Glancing quickly over it, I noticed how many cracks and dents that it actually had. There were even a few old nails sticking out in awkward angles, like someone had rushed to fix it.
All the other Mikaelsons' had gathered in the room, but they remained at the back. The only Originals at the front were Liam and Elijah; Elijah because he was obviously guiding me through the process and Liam because he didn't trust Elijah with me through the process.
"Okay, Brooklyn, just relax. I know what I'm doing and you just need to trust me for a few minutes. Can you do that?" His velvety voice asked, the pure eagerness and determination in his eyes startling me slightly.
I fought back the urge to roll my eyes and instead nodded lightly. "Yeah, I'm sure I can manage."
He chuckled lightly, giving me a small half smile before straightening up, eyes narrowed slightly as he stared at the various objects.
His gaze finally settled upon a small crystal glass that held some water. He flickered his eyes towards me, a knowing grin spreading across his lips. "Alright, pick up the glass, please."
Frowning, I looked over at Liam who simply shrugged and shook his head. I let out a puff of air and reached for the glass to the right of me, the cool of the glass spreading across my fingers. I looked over at Elijah expectantly, shaking my head in a confused manner. "What now?"
"Put it down in front of you."
I squinted my eyes in disbelief. "What was the point of that?" I demanded exasperatedly, flicking my other hand out in annoyance.
He stared at me, raising an eyebrow. "Just do it."
Shaking my head, I placed it in front of me, a tiny clink echoing around the barely furnished room as the glass connected with the table. As I straightened back up, I raised my eyebrows and smirked slightly.
Elijah grinned evilly. "I hope you can forgive me for what is about to come."
I quirked my lip in confusion and frowned. "What-"
Before I could finish Elijah ran over to the other side of the table and swiped at my arm, his nails slicing my flesh slightly before running over to the other side of the room. "OW!" I cried, looking at him in shock. "What the hell is wrong with you?!"
"Elijah what the hell are you doing?" Liam demanded, jogging over to inspect my arm, frowning in disapproval at his brother.
"Leave her brother, or else this won't work." Elijah snapped. I felt myself stiffen at the harsh tone, and looked over at Liam.
"I'm fine, don't worry." I whispered, trying my best to sound reassuring. Even though it was only a small cut and I was a vampire, it still hurt like a bitch. I mean he was an Original after all, he had a lot more power than I do.
Liam didn't look so sure but gazed into my eyes desperately. He pressed his lips into a fine line, his grip tightening on my forearm slightly before he let go and backed away, shooting a warning glare at Elijah as he did so.
Just as Liam's back pressed against the wall, Elijah ran at me once again, this time his hand wrapping around my neck and pushing me against the table, causing my breath to catch in my throat. My hand automatically, reached up to his hand, shooting him a venomous glare as I growled defensively. "What in the name of hell are you doing, Elijah?" I bit out. His grip was tight, but not unbearably painful.
"Elijah, stop it!" Liam barked from his place on the wall, stepping to come towards me before Rebekah stepped up to him, pressing her arm against his chest to stop him.
"It's part of the trial, Liam." Rebekah explained, a look of sympathy aimed in my direction in the process.
I felt myself choke slightly as Elijah tightened his grip, the look of determination flaring up once again in his eyes. "Come on, Brooklyn." He growled, "Defend yourself!"
That's when it happened.
Before I could retort, a small sensation spread through my body and the next moment a whip of water is splashing violently across Elijah's face, the force so strong that his grip on my throat released and he fell sideways and onto the floor with an echoing thud. My eyes widened in panic as I leant against the table for support, my hand pressing against my throat as I stared over at Elijah, the weird sensation I felt moments ago beginning to disappear.
He was beginning to sit up, a triumphant look spread across his face. He rubbed at his wet jaw, a massive grin spreading across his lips as he looked up at me. "I knew it. Well done, Brooklyn."
"What the hell just happened?" I squeaked in panic, my eyes snapping over to the glass of water I had put on the table only minutes ago. Except it wasn't a glass of water anymore. It was just a glass. The water had disappeared. "Oh my God, no. I did not do that, no!" The panic began rising inside of me as I stumbled away from the table, my mouth dropping in disbelief.
"You did do that, child." Kol smiled casually as if this wasn't a big deal at all. "We always knew you were gifted. We just didn't know what you were gifted in."
"I'm not gifted!" I screamed in denial, my hands reaching up and bunching in my hair as I shook my head furiously. "I didn't do that, nope." I closed my eyes, turning around and beginning to pace. "How the hell did this happen, oh my God." I cringed as I saw the small puddle of water from the glass on the wooden floor, refusing to believe I did that.
"Brook," I heard someone call from the other side of the room. I looked up, letting out a puff of air as I saw Liam staring at me with wide eyes from the table, his hands grasped tightly around the crystal glass. "That was awesome."
I felt myself slowly begin to relax at his words. I let out another breath, running my hand nervously through my hair, my eyes darting over to Elijah who had now stood up. "I did that?" I asked, cringing slightly.
He grinned, brushing down his clothes gently. "Yes, you did."
I stared into nothing for a moment, a small grin beginning to work it's way across my face at the thought of being able to control water. "That's pretty damn epic."
"It is, and it's not just water."
That caught my attention. My gaze snapped up to Rebekah, who was smiling manically. "What do you mean 'not just water'?"
She swapped a few looks with her siblings, all of them sharing the same smile of appreciation and interest. "We believe it's the elements. "Water, Earth, Fire and Air."
"So I'm like some sort of Airbender or something?" I joked, a smirk making it's way onto my face.
"If that's how you want to look at it, then sure. You're an Airbender."
"Cool beans." I whispered, examining my hands with a new found interest. A thought suddenly clicked as I thought over what had just happened and I looked up at the siblings curiously, clenching my hands in front of me. "I want to try something."
Elijah looked at me. "What did you have in mind?"
"Come here." I said, reaching out a hand for him to take. I smirked over at Liam, who was watching the two of us carefully, his arms crossed over his chest as he smirked back at me, a knowing grin on both our faces. I tore my gaze away from him before grinning sweetly at Elijah who now looked at me cautiously. "I hope you can forgive for what I'm about to do." I said, my hands wrapping around his wrists.
His eyebrows scrunched in confusion, but before he could protest I felt the sensation spread throughout my arms and I grinned as small flames began to erupt from my hands, spreading across the Originals arm in front of me. The flames licked my skin, tickling almost and I found myself relieved that they didn't hurt. But I was equally confused at how I was suddenly able to do this.
Elijah gasped and ripped his wrists out of my grip, causing the others in the room and I to let out a few chuckles as Elijah desperately shook out his hands, sending me a look of both irritation and amusement.
He breathed deeply for a few moments as we continued to chuckle at what just happened before he straightened up and shook his head in amusement at me, rubbing at his wrists whilst he stared at me. "Touche."
I brought my hand up to my mouth, covering my mouth slightly as I continued to laugh, glad that he had known it was a joke and wasn't going to go all Original on my ass. Despite the circumstances of why and how I arrived here, I had felt like a bond had formed between the Originals and I during my stay. It was weird, to be honest. I'd always had this sort of bond with Liam straight from the beginning of meeting him, but meeting his siblings was different. We all just seem to get along, minus a few arguments and harsh words being exchanged here and there.
A silence engulfed the big, dimly lit room and we all just stayed quiet, almost relishing in the moment of quiet. It lasted for a few minutes before Finn cleared his throat, adjusting his jacket as he turned to address us.
"I think I speak on the behalf on all of my family when I thank you for your co-operation during this, Brooklyn. I know it must be stressful to be away from your family but we want to thank you for allowing us to test you, in a sense. It's been interesting." He smiled gratefully at me, the other Originals nodding and smiling in agreement at me.
I wrapped my hand around my forearm, nodding slightly. "No problem."
"We're going to bring around one of our cars and Liam is going to drive you home." Kol said, raising an eyebrow at Liam, who was standing across from him. Liam looked up at the mention of his name before looking over at me and smirking.
I smiled back at him, feeling the familiar flutter of butterflies as we smiled at each other. I felt myself relax and I pressed my head back against the wall I was leaning on, I was finally going to be able to go home.

"I'm really proud of you."
I turned my head from it's rested position on the head rest of the car seat, frowning over at Liam as he stared at the road in front of him, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"Oh? Why?" I questioned, returning my gaze out the window as I watched the various vegetation blur by as we drove towards my house.
"For sticking it out. I know my family can be unbearable and that was the last thing I would ever want you to do, but I'm proud of you for sticking it out." As he finished, his hand reached over to my lap and grabbed my hand, squeezing it gently as he kept his other hand securely on the wheel.
I snorted. "I just want to sleep." I said, feeling my eyes start to droop slightly as the exhaustion of the past few days began to catch up with me. I heard him chuckle as I continued to stare out at the scenery, certain things becoming increasingly familiar as we drove. It didn't take long before I was sitting upright in my seat, staring excitedly at the house I had known as home for ages. Liam looked over at me and laughed at my enthusiasm, before parking a few houses away. I didn't question why he did that, because I had a pretty good idea of why he did it.
I undid my seat belt and looked over at him, placing my hands in my lap as I smiled over at him, pulling my sweater sleeves over my hands. "Are you not going to walk me up to the door?" I teased, causing him to roll his eyes.
"No, sorry. You're going to have to pay me to do that." He teased back, his arm leaning on the edge of the closed window next to him. I could tell from his face that he actually wanted to walk me up to the door, but didn't risk running into my brothers.
"Well," I smiled, a sudden burst of courage spreading through me as I leant over and kissed him on the cheek, my lips lingering on his skin for a few moments before leaning back and smiling. "Thank you for driving me home." I said, reaching over and opening my car door and climbing out before he could respond. I gave a quick glance back and saw him gaping after me as I shut the door, sending him a smirk as his jaw dropped at my action.
Okay, I'm not going to lie. That felt pretty good. Hell that felt amazing.
I tucked a few strands of hair behind my ear and let out a breathy laugh as I began walking down the pavement towards my house, smiling down at the ground as butterflies bounced around my stomach. I hugged my sweater closer to myself, feeling myself get even more relaxed the closer I got to home. Even though I already missed Liam, I was happy to be home.
I was only a few houses away when I heard a car door slam shut, I froze in place, looking over my shoulder as I saw Liam climb clumsily and quickly out the car, running a hand through his hair as he ran down the pavement towards me. I turned on the spot, frowning and cocking my head to the side as he grew closer and closer, his speed increasing as he ran to me.
"Liam what are yo-" But before I could finish Liam was in front of me and without a moments hesitation his hands cradled either side of my face and he crashed his lips to mine. At first I was shocked, but it only took me a few seconds to register what was happening and I closed my eyes, my hands wrapping around the back of his neck and pulling him closer to me, our lips moving in sync as if we had done this a million times before.
He groaned lustfully against my lips, his teeth playfully biting down on my lower lip as he silently asked to deepen the kiss. I groaned back, parting my lips to allow him entrance. Our tongues danced around for a few moments before he pulled back for breath. He pressed his forehead against mine, his eyes closed as both our breaths came out ragged and deep as we tried to catch our breath.
"What...was that?" I panted slightly, grinning up at him as his eyes slowly opened, smiling affectionately down at me.
"Just showing my gratification." He whispered, nuzzling his nose into the side of my face slightly, causing me to laugh as I felt my face flush from the scene that had just happened.
"Well," I chuckled, "Your gratification was very welcome."
I had to admit that I had been waiting for this to happen. I really liked Liam and I wanted to take a step further, but I was nervous to make the first move.
"Brook?"
I looked up at him, smiling as a signal for him to continue.
"I've been waiting to do that for a while." He admitted, a breathy chuckle escaping past his rosy lips as he stared at me. "And it was better than I imagined." he whispered on the end.
"You and me both." I whispered back, both us grinning manically at each other.
We both then slowly and reluctantly pulled back, his hand holding mine gently as we both regained our breath. "I know you want to get home, so I won't keep you any longer."
I'd almost forgotten we were only a few houses away from my own, the kiss making my mind completely blank as I had gotten indulged in the moment.
I rolled my eyes. "Dammit, I forgot about that." I cursed, shaking my head as I looked over my shoulder. I looked over back at Liam and grinned. "Well, I'd better go before they have a heart attack, but I'm sure I'll see you soon anyway." I teased grinning at him as he shot me a playful dirty look, letting go of my hand.
"I'm sure you will." he laughed, leaning over and pecking me once more on the lips, letting out a small hum. "And I'm sure I could get used to that."
I scoffed and slapped his chest, pushing him playfully. "In your dreams, Mikaelson. Now, get out of here before the guard dogs come out."
He laughed and smiled at me quickly before winking and jogging back over to his car. He opened the door, gave me one last glance before climbing in and starting the car. Moments later I was watching his car drive down the road, eventually disappearing around the corner, leaving me on the pavement.
My fingers trailed up to my lips, gently running them over the ghost of the kiss that I still felt. I grinned down the road where Liam's car had disappeared before turning and heading down the road, bracing myself for the wrath that was sure to come from my older brothers.
