Joella's POV

"So, I had lunch with your dad today." Matt said as me and him were out eating dinner.

"Oh you did? Was it the whole band or just you?" I asked as I took a bite of my food.

"Just me, and let me tell you, it was pretty awkward." He smirked.

"What? Why was it awkward?"

I hope my dad wasn't doing the whole father thing and being too harsh on Matt because of everything we've been through.

"Because, it's the first time I've had a meal with him, without the band or Larry around. Or you as a matter of fact."

"So... what did you talk about?"

It made me curious when he didn't say anything else so I urged him to go on.

"A little bit of this. A little bit of that." He shrugged one shoulder, "Then we talked about you."

"Oh? Do tell." I giggled.

He sighed, "I basically laid it out, how I want to marry you, how I want to spend my life with you." He shook his head.

"I take it as it didn't go well?"

Oh crap, what did my father say to him. I had found out that he was part of the reason everyone didn't come see me when I was going through my memory loss.

"No it did not." He tossed his napkin down on the table, "He thinks it's bullshit honestly. Well I mean he didn't say those words but he might as well have. He thinks that wanting to get married is moving too fast. He even had the audacity to throw my old relationship with Val in my face, all saying look how long we were together and that didn't last."

"Oh that's bullshit. That was different. You two weren't even married."

Why would he throw that out there? Of all things he could have said and that's what he chose?

"See that's what I told him. I told him that you are different, that our relationship is totally different. That you and me connect in ways that me and her never did. In bed and outside of bed." He winked.

"Oh God." I laughed softly, "You didn't actually say that part did you?"

Fuck, I hope not, that would be downright embarrassing.

"What." He blew air between his lips to make them vibrate together, "No, of course not. How would that have sounded, sir me and your daughter we have a strong connection. Even in bed we have a strong connection in more ways than one." He couldn't help but laugh with me joining in.

"That would have been bad and embarrassing." I shook my head as I giggled.

"You're telling me." He breathed out with a chuckle.

"So, you asked him for my hand in marriage and he said no?"

"Exactly, before he agrees to give you away he thinks we should work on our relationship more as he put it. Make sure it's 100% something we want to do. I guess he thinks I'm going to break your heart again. And the way he made it sounded, like it actually was partially my fault because of your accident."

"How the hell was it your fault? I'm the one who walked into the road. I'm the one who wasn't paying attention to that car coming, it's not like you pushed me."

This was pissing me off. My father has no right to accuse Matt of that.

"I know, I know. I guess he figures that if we weren't arguing, you wouldn't have walked across the street angrily and you could have paid more attention." He sighed.

"Oh bullshit." I rolled my eyes, "I could have easily walked across the street in a good mood and not had paid attention that there was a car coming. That's all on me not you." I had pointed to myself then him. I then groaned, "Woo, I should so give him a piece of my mind." I grabbed my phone to call him.

"Babe, no." He grabbed the hand that I had my phone in, "How about we just go. You can do that later tonight okay? Or tomorrow."

When we got into the car he grabbed a small jewelry box out of the armrest compartment and hands it to me. Is he serious right now? Is he really going to propose to me this way. Especially after what my father told him.

"Here, maybe this will prove how serious we are. How much I love you regardless what he thinks."

"Are you serious Matthew?" I groaned not taking the box from his hand. "That's a shitty way of doing things."

I'm not taking it, this is not how I want an engagement to go.

"Come on, just take it." He nudged it towards me but I still wouldn't take the little box.

"No, not until I have a nice talk with my dad." I crossed my arms over my chest.

"My God woman." He groaned, "You can be so difficult sometimes I swear."

"Don't you know it's not nice to swear." I stuck my tongue out at him.

"Oh ho, that's real mature." He then grabs my hand and sets the box in it, "Now open it, please."

"Ugh fine!" I groaned and opened it, thinking it was a ring but it wasn't, it was a key. "What the fuck?"

I looked down at the key then back at him with a confused look.

"Move in with me." He said point blank, "That's the next step we should take in this relationship. I mean we pretty much spend a lot of time together anyways so let's make it official and live together full time."

"Was this your idea or my dad's?"

"Why does it matter?"

"Well it doesn't, I was just asking out of curiosity." I shrugged as I looked back at the key in the box.

"If you must know, it was kinda both of ours. I said something about asking you to move in with me and he thought it was a good idea to do before marriage. Make sure we can stand living with each other before we tie the knot with marriage. This way if we can't tolerate each other after living together it'd be one less thing to worry about."

"Your words or his?" I smirked, that sounds like something my father would say actually.

"His." He chuckled. "So? What do you say? Move in with me?"

"Why yes, I will move in with you." I said with a nod.

"Thank God." He grinned then leans over and we share a kiss.

As he drove down the road, I noticed him glance over at me.

"Mind if we make a pit stop?"

"No I don't mind. Where at?"

"The studio, I was there earlier today and realized I forgot something. It'll only take a few minutes or so."

"That's fine. Maybe my father is still there and it'll be a good chance to talk to him while you're getting what you need."

Although, I doubt he is, even though there has been times he has been at the studio late. It all depends on if there was musicians there that needed his assistance.

"No, you do that at home, in personal environment." He stated as he pointed a finger at me.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." I sighed with a nod.

Once we got to the studio parking lot, he parked then we went inside.

"Hey Miss-"

"Meghan." The receptionist told him.

"Right, Meghan. You've met Joella right?"

"We have met." I smiled. "How are you? You liking the job?"

"I am, man meeting all the different people, it's amazing."

"Awesome and it truly is."

That's one of the reasons I loved working at the studio. Unfortunately I haven't worked here since right before my accident. Maybe I should talk to my father about coming back now that I'm fully recovered, but it'll have to be in another area. Meghan is doing an awesome job and I wouldn't want to take the position from her.

"The door is unlocked for you Mr. Sanders. Head on up." She gave him a thumbs up.

"Thanks."

"Uh what was that about?" I asked after we walked away.

Something was up, that was weird.

"What do you mean?" He questioned as we got into the elevator.

"The whole the door is unlocked. What door she talking about?"

"Oh that. While you were in the Restroom before we left the restaurant, I called ahead to let them know I was dropping by."

"Oh okay." I smiled.

Oh that's all that was huh? Still seems fishy honestly. He has no reason to lie about it right?
