"y/n, i don't think it's a good idea to go to work after court"
"i have already arranged a meeting with utahime. i can't postpone it, again"
satoru sighed as he watched you get ready. he had spent the night again, after you told him to come over. you wanted nothing more but to get your mind off things, and he knew exactly in what way to help you.
he came behind you, helping you with the back zipper of your shirt. you looked at him through the mirror, watching the way he concentrated on it. once he reached the top he stopped, before pressing a kiss on your neck.
still looking at him through the mirror, you slightly moved your head to the side— to give him more space. his eyes met yours and you quickly looked away, feeling your cheeks burning up. a smirk made its way to his face, as he kept on kissing your neck.
"satoru, we don't have time" you sighed.
"i know. i just want to calm you down" he mumbled against your skin.
you placed a hand behind his head, making him look at you.
"i'm okay, don't worry" you smiled, playing with his hair.
"not completely, but sure, whatever you say" he said, as he pulled himself off you.
you laughed and shook your head. you put on your blazer and fixed his tie, before the two of you left your apartment.
satoru held your hand throughout the ride to court, trying to keep you calm. because he knew you weren't. no matter how many times you tried telling him you were, he knew that deep down you were panicking.
you were standing outside the courtroom and you felt like leaving. you knew that once you went in there, satoru wouldn't be able to be next to you. you looked at him, hoping he would say something· anything to change your mind about leaving.
he wrapped his arms around you, his lips meeting the top of your head. he closed his eyes, bringing you closer to his chest.
"i'm not gonna say much, because time is limited right now, but... ruin his life, y/n"
"with all this evidence and every question you'll have to answer, ruin his life. ruin his reputation. ruin every little part of him"
you raised your head to look at him, noticing the smile on his face. you slowly nodded your head, before you tip-toed to place a kiss on his cheek.
"thank you for being here with me today" you said softly.
satoru's heart skipped a beat, and for a minute he thought he was dreaming. he gently patted your head and smiled at you, but once you turned around, his fingers caressed the spot your lips touched seconds ago.
you took a deep breath before you walked into the courtroom, satoru following a little right after you. once you saw suguru you tensed up, but you knew he wouldn't be able to do something to you.
your anxiety was touching the ceiling, as you waited for the trial to start. you turned to the side, easily spotting the white haired man, who sent a wink your way. you smiled at his stubbornness, feeling yourself relax the tiniest bit, before looking ahead of you.
satoru, though, was being stubborn in order for you to calm down. he didn't care that he was in a courtroom, as long as he managed to put a smile on your face, nothing else mattered to him. of course, he didn't fail to notice how your shoulders slightly dropped as you relaxed.
once the trial started, you couldn't stop your hands from shaking. you were so anxious, you thought you were gonna pass out. when the recordings started playing, you sat down, unable to keep yourself up.
suguru's eyes were wide, unable to believe that you were one step ahead of him with those recordings. even if he'd try to deny them and lie that they were fake, he couldn't deny the last one.
policemen had seen the condition your office was, and they even had pictures of it. he turned his head to the side, eyes falling on your form before meeting satoru's eyes. suguru could see the smirk on his face, as his words echoed in the room;
"one day, she's gonna ruin your life. and trust me, i'll be right there laughing at you"
suguru hated the amount of evidence you had. he hated how you even thought of going against him. he hated all of it.
satoru was watching all of the different expressions on his face and he enjoyed every single one of them. but when his eyes met your form, he heard his heart break. you were sitting there, void of emotions.
you didn't know what to feel. happy because you had the upper hand? relieved because the story was coming to an end? sad because you had to listen to everything again— instantly reliving them? you had no idea what was the right emotion.
the judge was listening carefully to the recordings, his expression changing every passing second. it wasn't the first time that he had to listen to them, and they still surprised him. he took a deep breath and moved closer to the microphone, making you get up from your seat.
"ms. l/n, how many years were you in a relationship with mr. geto?"
"eight years"
"but the first four had none of this in them"
"can you explain further?"
"the first four years we were just teenagers, and the other four we were adults who had the chance to live together"
"did you break up and then got back together?"
"yes"
"why's that?"
"when i graduated high-school, mr. geto had just finished his first year of university when he decided that he wasn't doing something he liked. since he wanted to go abroad for his studies, we decided to break up, so we wouldn't have to deal with the difficulties of long distance"
"we had, also, said to get back together after our studies, if we both wanted it"
"and you did"
"yes, your honor"
"and that's when... all this started?"
"yes"
"it was mentioned that the act of rape happened three times. why didn't you call the police after the first time?"
"i thought that it was something he did because of the substance in his system"
"and the second time?"
"i was scared to call the police, because i didn't know what he could possibly do to me"
"if it wasn't for the help of mr. gojo, would you have called the police?"
"no, i don't think so" you said, slightly shaking your head.
"how did mr. gojo learn about the situation?"
"the camera footage that you presented earlier, was the one that made me admit what happened. later on, when i was comfortable enough to share more, i told him the story"
the judge kept asking you more questions, and even asked satoru, before he turned to look at suguru.
"what is your saying in all these, mr. geto?"
"i'm sorry, your honor, but i want to ask a question" suguru's lawyer said, raising his hand.
"and what is that question?"
"aren't those recordings illegal? since they're without my client's permission?"
"i don't think you should ask something like that when your client did acts without permission"
"and to answer your question, this was a life or death situation. ms. l/n had every right to record those moments"
"also, without your client's permission, this trial is broadcasting in the whole japan right now, since that was the victim's decision" the judge added.
suguru's eyes widened, as he turned to look at you. you could feel his eyes on you, but you didn't dare to turn your head to the side.
the people in the courtroom were surprised by what the judge said, and satoru was the same. he didn't expect that you'd want that. he thought that you'd want it to be a secret and away from the public eye.
but he was so wrong. you wanted to ruin suguru's life in ways that he wasn't able to ruin yours. so when satoru told you to do it, you knew you had made the right decision.
his eyes fell on suguru, watching him crumble. satoru chuckled to himself at the sight, cause you were doing it. you were slowly and painfully ruining his life.
"so, mr. geto, what is your saying? do you admit, here in this courtroom, that you did all that stuff to ms. l/n?"
suguru stayed silent, looking at his handcuffed hands. the judge waited some seconds, in case he'd answer, but he didn't.
"did you or did you not assault, abuse, rape and attempt to murder ms. l/n?" he asked, a little louder this time.
suguru raised his head, eyes locking with the judge's.
"i did"
"suguru geto, justice... is on y/n l/n's side. i sentence you five years in prison for domestic violence, six years in prison for rape and ten years in prison for attempted murder"
and just like that, the trial was over. the judge didn't allow the policemen to take suguru away, before you and satoru left.
when you walked out of the court, cameras attacked you and satoru but without saying a word, you got into his car. a police car followed you til you arrived at the company, to make sure nothing would happen.
reporters were outside the company, waiting for either you or satoru. yet, you were with his car, so you immediately went in the parking lot. from there you used the elevator to go to your floor.
satoru was getting worried, because ever since the trial ended you hadn't said a single thing. but you didn't know what to say. you didn't even know how to feel, cause this still felt fake to you.
once you reached your floor, you saw everyone who worked there as they watched the news on the television. you and satoru stood and watched, your eyes reading the words and your ears listening to everything.
"suguru geto, the former ceo of the alpha company was accused for attempted murder, sexual assault and rape and he's sentenced in prison" you heard the reporter say.
"the victim was the co-ceo of the gojo family company, y/n l/n, who —after years of suffering from the accused's actions— is finally free"
you couldn't hear anything else. you could see suguru getting pushed in a police car, and you could feel everyone's eyes on you. from the corner of your eye, you could see utahime, who was there for the meeting you had with her.
she was shocked, along with everyone else. you knew that none of them concentrated on their work and, instead, watched the whole trial. some had tears in their eyes, because they never expected this.
the words of the reporter kept replaying in your head, making you grow teary-eyed.
"i'm... free?" you asked, voice coming out like a whisper.
maki came to your side, and she immediately wrapped her arms around you.
"you're free, y/n! you won against him"
she looked at you with tears in her eyes, before you turned your head to the side; eyes falling on satoru. you wrapped your arms around his neck, slightly tip-toeing, as he wrapped his around your waist.
"i wouldn't have done this without you" you said, loud enough for him to hear.
he held you closer against him, feeling your heart that was beating fast against your chest. you buried your face in his shoulder, the fabric of his suit absorbing your tears.
"you did it, y/n! you're free! this monster is gonna be away from you" he whispered in your ear, as he ran his fingers through your hair.
he held you against him, before you pulled away, and he immediately wiped the tears off your cheeks. you smiled at him, watching a smile reach his face, too.
all your coworkers congratulated you for winning the case, miwa crying as she hugged you. the woman wish she knew earlier, so she'd help you when the bathroom incident happened.
"ms. l/n, uh... i think it'd be better if we arranged the meeting for another day" utahime said, slowly making her way towards you.
"oh, is there something else on you schedule?" you asked, looking at her.
"no, i just think it's better... for you"
you looked at her, trying to understand if what came from her mouth was genuine.
"i can't postpone it any more" you softly laughed.
"it's okay, we can have the meeting right now" you added, in which she nodded.
"i really wish we'd be able to have it in my office, but it's not ready yet. i'm really sorry for that"
"please don't apologize"
you walked with her towards the meeting room, telling maki to bring you waters and your folders. you sat down across from her, and for the first time you didn't feel any tension between you.
when utahime watched the trial, she felt guilty for even thinking of getting you out of the picture. all because she wanted satoru to herself.
she realized that her and satoru would never get back together, so she stopped trying to change his mind. yes, she still wanted him, but he seemed happier with you. even if you were just fucking.
utahime was jealous of you, but she knew that she once had satoru treating her like this and dropped him. the blame was on no one but her.
"ms. l/n, i really want to apologize for my behavior towards you"
"i don't hold any grudge against you"
"i understand that you probably hate me because of my closeness with satoru, but... this can't get you back together" you added, softly.
"i know... and i dont hate you! i'm just... jealous of you"
"yet, i know that it's my fault me and satoru can no longer be together"
"i can't help but agree with that"
utahime laughed, before her eyes fell on you. her smile dropped, before she talked;
"i'm really sorry all those things happened to you. they're terrible. those recordings were really... disturbing"
she softly smiled, her eyes meeting yours;
"but, i'm really happy you're finally free"
