kaia's mom, chloe's mom, nathan's mom, and marylou all checked their kids out of school for the week; a few absences looks better than a suspension.

chloe would most likely be spending a few days at kaia's, and nate has been sleeping at the triplet's house. 4 days until they leave for la.

now that they don't have to worry about school for a few days, the triplet's had plenty of time to pre-film some videos for while they're gone. and, of course, they'd be vlogging kaia's birthday.

nick is always the first one awake, so he goes to chris' room first to get him and nate up, then matt's. he knocks on matt's door, but doesn't hear anything.

"matt, we have to film with nate, wake up." nick quietly opens the door.

matt grumbles and rolls over in bed.

"matthew, wake up." nick jumps on his bed.

"what, nick?!" matt shouts at him, now awake.

"film day. we can crank out a couple car videos and a vlog with nathan." nick reminds him.

"ok, i get it, jeez." matt sits up.

before leaving, nick notices matt's nightstand, and examines the picture.

"where'd you get that?" nick asks, pointing to the photo.

"nowhere." matt grabs the picture and shoves it under his pillow.

"why are you hiding it like i've never seen it? i'm literally in the picture, too." nick laughs.

"i don't care. just leave me alone." matt groans.

"you okay? you know you can talk to me about anything. i can tell you're probably nervous for the trip with kaia." nick states.

"i'm not nervous, i'm just not looking forward to being around someone that hates me." matt answers.

"she doesn't hate you." nick replies.

"yes she does. and even if she didn't, she still said she's not ready to hangout with me or talk to me casually. what's the point of me going?" matt rolls his eyes.

"the point of you going is that you're one of her best friends, even if you're not on speaking terms. you're still important to her. and did she say that to you? when did you talk?" nick asks.

"at denny's yesterday. i thanked her for everything with james and she did answer me, but she said she's not ready." matt responds.

"just take it slow. and you know her, she'll probably get shit-faced at her birthday and end up talking to you." nick jokes.

"but i don't wanna talk to her just because she's drunk, that's basically taking advantage of the situation. i want her to want me- to talk to me, i mean." matt answers.

"i have a question, and you have to answer honestly. i won't tell anyone." nick starts.

"okay, what?" matt asks, confused.

"do you have feelings for kaia?" nick asks.

matt sits in silence, thinking for a few minutes.

"i think i always have. i just didn't realize until recently." matt sighs.

"it's okay, that's normal. are you ever gonna tell her? or would you rather have your friendship back?" nick comforts matt, patting his back.

"both, i guess. i miss our friendship more than anything in the world, but i can't help but want more with her. she's too good for me, though. and if i ever get the chance to be friends with her again, i'm not risking losing her again if she doesn't feel the same." matt answers.

"how do you know she doesn't feel the same?" nick asks.

"trust me, i can tell." matt huffs.

"don't be so negative. and we have to leave soon, get dressed." nick stands up and leaves matt's room.

once nick closes his door, matt grabs the picture from under his pillow. he smiles at how beautiful she is, and misses the moment this picture was taken.

they were having the best time of their lives, close as ever, and kaia would regularily kiss his cheek both for photos, and to just show affection.

he misses being able to hug her, nap together, cuddle and watch movies, he misses her just being around. there's nothing more in the world that matt wants to do than fix things with her.

he sets the picture down on his nightstand and gets up and ready for the day. he gets dressed and meets everyone in the kitchen to eat breakfast.

nate made everyone waffles, they all sit and chat before leaving to film.

they spend the whole day driving around, vlogging, and filming car videos with nathan.

kaia and chloe spent the day shopping, getting their nails done, and eating. they thought they'd like the time off school, but really, they're bored to death. there is really nothing to do in a small town on the east coast.

after doing everything they could think of, the girls return to kaia's house. they watch movies in the living room with kaia's mom and willow; her dad has a business trip out of town, so they get her for the week.

willow is sharing a blanket with chloe while watching ratatouille again for the second time today; it's her favourite movie of all time.

"are you gonna have fun with mom when we leave for my birthday?" kaia asks willow.

"no. i don't want you to leave. you're gonna get hurt." willow crosses her arms.

"we'll be safe. uncle chrissy and nicky are coming, too." kaia laughs.

"what about matt? are you leaving him here with me?" she asks excitedly.

"no, he's coming with us. i'm just not gonna talk to him." kaia answers.

"yes you are, kaia." chloe looks at her.

"i don't know about that." kaia replies.

"do you hate uncle matt?" willow asks.

kaia looks at chloe, then her mom.

"no, willy. i don't hate him. i just don't want to talk to him." kaia answers.

"but i thought you loved him! are you guys still gonna get married?" willow climbs onto kaia.

"no, we're not getting married. i do love him, but not like that." she says.

"you don't have a crush on him anymore?" willow giggles.

kaia looks at chloe who is also laughing.

"well, do you?" chloe asks.

"it's complicated, willow." she smiles.

"isn't that just a grown up way of saying yes?" willow asks.

"willy, i don't know if i like him. just like you sometimes like vegetables, and sometimes you don't." kaia explains.

"so you do like him?" chloe teases.

"not the time, chloe." she mouths.

"i don't care. i just wanna see matt again." willow whines.

"they're all busy today. they're making more videos for the tv. maybe they can come over tomorrow." kaia says.

"can we watch them?" willow gets all excited and happy.

"sure, baby." kaia's mom turns on the tv and opens the boy's youtube channel.

"what video?" she asks.

"rocket stomper!" willow shouts and runs around the living room.

they put on the video and watch how excited willow is everytime she sees them on the tv.

she can't believe she knows people in real life and on tv. willow always asks if they're royalty; kaia always says yes.
