"chloe!" nick shouts, she hears him barrelling down the hall towards where her, kaia, and chris were sitting on the couch.

"what?" she responds when he stops infront of her.

"wanna tell me why you posted evidence of us NOT doing what i said we were? james is all upset in the comments." he accuses her.

"fuck. i didn't think about it." she slaps her forehead, chris copies her.

"chris why are you copying me?" she rolls her eyes.

"i don't know. i wanna be included." he shrugs, putting an arm around kaia.

"well now i'm gonna have to apologize to him and either explain or come up with another lie." nick huffs, sitting down on the couch opposite everyone

"tell me i'm a screwed up mess. that i never listen, listen. tell me you don't want my kiss, that you need your distance, distance." kaia hums into a hand microphone.

"not the time to be singing one direction." nick glares at her.

"ugh, whatever. lighten up. i'll just text him." kaia sighs, pulling out her phone to text james.

"what did he say?" chris asks when kaia smiles and turns her phone off.

"he's gonna come over tomorrow with everyone." kaia responds.

"and?" chris can tell there's more.

"aaannnd i think he asked me out." she smiles and leans her head on chris' shoulder.

"WHAT?!" chloe shouts, whipping her head around to look at kaia.

"what?" she replies innocently.

"james asked you out?" chloe interrogates.

matt was leaving the kitchen going back to the guest bedroom where he was playing fortnite when he heard what chloe said. he stopped in his tracks and clenched his jaw, listening to the conversation.

"not exactly, but pretty much." kaia says, matt unclenches his jaw and slowly starts walking again, still listening.

"he said he loves you guys but wants to hangout with me alone." kaia smiles at chloe, nick, and chris.

"i mean you're obviously not going to, right?" chris asks.

"why wouldn't i?" kaia looks at him.

"uhhh, i don't know. no reason, i mean what if we all wanted to hangout?" chris covers.

"chris, i hangout with you almost every single day, one day off won't kill you." kaia rolls her eyes.

"might kill matt, tho." chloe mumbles.

"what?" kaia didn't hear her.

"nothing. have fun on your date with james." chloe sighs.

"well tomorrow he's gonna be here with everyone. we still have our movie tonight and plenty of time together all week." kaia defends herself.

she stands up and matt quickly keeps walking to the guest room. chris puts his arm around chloe and they turn on the tv. kaia heads towards her room and sees matt just as he's walking back into the guest room.

she follows him in there and looks over his shoulder and watches him on the game.

"fuck!" he slams his fists down on the desk.

kaia giggles at matt's reaction to losing, he doesn't handle failure well.

"you good, matt?" kaia asks him.

"yeah, this shit just pisses me off." he responds and sits down on the bed eating his cereal.

"okay. well i'm going to my room to watch family guy." she shrugs and turns around, leaving the room.

"wait, i'm coming with you!" matt finishes the cereal in his mouth then quickly follows kaia to her room.

matt flops down on kaia's bed before she can and she rolls her eyes, going over to her mirror and brushing her hair.

matt grabs the tv remote and turns on disney plus, clicking on family guy and starting it as she walks over to him.

she lays down on the bed and matt puts an arm around her, she puts a leg and arm over him as they lay there watching tv.

"guys! we have to leave for the movie!" chris shouts, heading towards kaia's room.

him, chloe, and nick were watching a movie until they had to leave. kaia and matt fell asleep watching tv.

chris opens the door loudly and quickly hushes himself.

"chloe, nick!" he whisper-shouts.

they tiptoe towards kaia's room, peeking around the door to see why chris was calling them.

"just friends my ass." chloe rolls her eyes.

"they're never gonna realize, i swear." nick complains.

"we have to wake them up." chris sighs.

"5 more minutes?" chloe whispers.

"yup." nick and chris reply in unison.

they walk away and kaia rubs her eyes, sitting up. she was woken up by chris stomping down the hallway. matt wakes up because his arms are now empty.

he looks around, confused, and sits up next to kaia.

"how long were we asleep for?" matt asks in a sleepy voice.

"shit what time is it? did we miss the movie?" kaia reaches over to her nightstand and grabs her phone to check the time.

"8:47." she sighs, putting her phone down.

"we probably have to leave soon, tho." matt grumbles, standing up from the bed.

kaia rolls her eyes and stands up, walking over to her mirror.

"holy shit. my hair, matt." he looks over at her and chuckles at the state of her bedhead.

"can i do your hair?" matt asks as kaia is brushing out all the knots.

"absolutely not. you are terrible at doing hair." she responds.

"i'm offended. i'm a great hair stylist, i'll show you." he grabs a hairtie off her wrist and attempts to make a ponytail.

he gathers all her hair in his hands and messily ties it up.

"there. beautiful." he smiles, proudly.

"matt, it's terrible. there's a huge bump." she turns around to look at him.

"i meant you're beautiful, not the hair. it's not my best work." he rolls his eyes and walks out of the room.

she looks back at herself in the mirror and smiles. it's not that bad.

she leaves her room and sees everyone putting on their shoes, talking to matt. as soon as she walks in the room, they all go quiet.

"what are you guys talking about?" she asks, slipping on her shoes and grabbing her keys.

"nothing." chloe and chris say at the same time.

"whatever. my car?" kaia asks.

"shotgun!" matt runs out the door to sit in the front seat before anyone else.

"i guess so." kaia says, everyone following her outside.

they all get in the car and kaia drives towards the movie theatre.

"can i pleeeeaasssseee have aux, kaia?" chris whines from the seat behind her.

"no! i want it. your music is shit, chris." nick argues.

kaia presses the media button on the dashboard, playing the "good kid, maad city" cd matt left in her car.

"there. now none of you get aux." she shrugs.

"fine by me." chris sits back in his seat.

chris makes a tiktok singing along to money trees, showing everyone in the car. chloe and nick were whispering in the backseat, kaia and matt were in the front singing along to themselves, and chris is waving the camera around getting everyone's face in his video.

they arrive at the movie theatre, kaia parks in the closest spot to the entrance so she won't have to walk far on the way back.

"nick, do you still have the tickets?" kaia asks, locking her car as they all walk inside.

"yup, they're in my bag." he pats his cross-body bag.

they all walk up to the concession stand by the bathrooms to get popcorn and drinks.

chris buys chloe, nick, and himself 2 popcorns to share and 2 large drinks. matt buys kaia her own large diet coke, because nobody else drinks that, and himself a rootbeer and candy for them to share. matt and kaia both hate popcorn, it gets stuck in their invisaligns and neither of them ever feel like doing all that.

the worker checks all their tickets, and they walk into the theatre to watch the most recent horror movie that came out.
