Chapter Seventeen: Anger Issues

Sun burst through my room waking me up. For the past three mornings now I woke up to a quiet house. Dalton was at school and James was in Florida I think. The only person I really got to hang out with who wasn't busy was Dave.

For three days now I took my shower, brushed my hair and teeth, did my make up then got dressed. Today I decided on dark blue jean shorts, a button up loose white blouse and my favorite red keds. My phone rang from my bedroom, running to it I jumped on my bed answering it.

"James how's Florida?" I asked smiling

"Hot,really hot. What are you doing tonight?" he asked

I looked at my red chipped painted nails "There's that party Dave wants me to go to."

He hummed for a second "Right, I forgot about that."

"I miss you, when are you coming home?" I asked bitting my lip

"In a few days, I'll call you tonight."

No other words were exchanged and the line went dead. I sighed putting my phone in my pocket leaving my house for Starbucks. Dave was at our usual table with my coffee and a smile on his face.

"Did James call you?" Dave asked as soon as I sat down

"Yup said he'd be home in a few days." I said sipping on my coffee

He nodded his head looking at his hands on the table then back to me "He won't be here for the charity event tonight and I'm going in his place."

"Ooh fun, you get to dress up that's gotta be awesome." I smiled

"I know we had plans so maybe you'd want to come with me? You know for James?" he suggested

I thought about it for a moment "Sounds fun, yeah I'll go."

"Really?" Dave asked a shocked expression on his face

A laugh passed my lips "Yeah, you aren't the worst company in the world Dave."

"Good to know." he laughed

At nine I found myself sitting at a charity event wearing a gold dress that had beads on it and came above my knees, gold shoes and my hair up in a bun. From the time I left Starbucks I managed to get my hair cut and it actually was better then my curly long hair. Now I had bangs and my hair was straightened.

"You look like you're about to fall over." Dave whispered laughed

I smiled and shook my head "I'm just not a fan of speeches that's it."

I noticed Dave would look at his phone every so often then to me. Finally the speeches were over,music was playing and people were dancing.

"Come dance with me." Dave nodded to the floor

Shaking my head I let out a nervous laugh "I'm not to good at dancing."

"You're the worst liar ever I seen you at Seth's party."

I grabbed his hand which he held out for me and I walked with him to the floor. The song switched to a slow song just my luck. My love is like a star by Demi Lovato came on.

"We don't have to.." Dave trailed off rubbing the back of his neck

"No it's fine." I smiled softly as he wrapped his arms around my waist while mine were around his neck "I actually love this song. I can't have you back out on me."

He let a shaky laugh out "Yeah you're right I can't back out on you."

"Mind if I cut in?" a voice said making my heart hammer

Dave smile and handed me over to James.

"I've missed you." I sighed happily

"I've missed you a lot more believe me." James replied dipping me down and kissing me for a moment.

"I think it's equal missing. I am glad you're here tonight." I said looking up at the twinkling lights above us that looked like stars.

After the song ended, James took my hand and led me to a crowd of people. However Emma stopped us in the process "Ooh two Franco brothers as dates tonight hot. Anyways I'm in LA for a few weeks and I was thinking we could have a sleepover?" Emma said smiling sipping on her drink

"Sleepover with the Emma Watson I'm so in." I said mocking exactly what a fan would say

"I'm so excited now! Okay I'll text you tomorrow or something. Now have fun with your super hot dates." she winked and kissed my cheek before walking away

James laughed shaking his head "She is so drunk."

"James buddy, how's it going?" Tobey Maguire asked as James and I walked over to him

"Good, I wanted to introduce you too my lovely girlfriend Caroline Taylor." he grinned proudly

I held out my hand to him "It's such a pleasure to meet you."

"The pleasure is all mine. I must say you've done a great job on her James. She is very beautiful." Tobey nodded to his friend

My mind was having so many thoughts in them I mean the man before me was the Tobey Maguire, he was Spider-Man for gods sake and was in the Great Gatsby alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. My life felt too unreal at this moment.

"Before I leave for an interview, how about a picture?" he asked and I nodded "Great!" he motioned for a man who had a camera

"Breath Care it was only Tobey after all." James teased

I blinked at him "Only? Only? Are you kidding me the man is like a legend to me." I explained

Just then Dave walked over to us "Fan girling over Tobey Maguire?" he asked

"Out in public? As if little Franco." I retorted

"That look on your face said it all trust me." he laughed at me as my face reddened

"You look tired we should get home." James said earning the confused look of Dave and me

Scrunching my eyebrows together I looked at him "Oh, right you're talking to baby Davie. It is past bedtime for you little man I'm sorry." I mocked a pout to Dave

"Last time I check I was older then you sweetheart." Dave replied laughing

"Let's go Caroline." James said grabbing my hand and pulling me toward the exit

Snatching my hand from his grip finally after awhile of trying I stopped in my tracks "What the hell is your problem? I'm not tired and I was having fun."

"My problem is that you were flirting with not only my friend but my brother as well." he snapped

I scoffed crossing my arms over my chest "I was not flirting with them! It's called being nice and friendly."

"A little two friendly if you ask me. Now let's go Caroline." He said grabbing my hand again pulling me with him

"You're unbelievable you know that?" I said once we reached his car

James shrugged his eyes looking darker then before "I honestly don't care."

On the way home we had gotten lost I know because James kept letting out frustrating sighs and tightening his grip on the car.

"You're lost." I finally said after twenty minutes of silence

"I'm not lost Caroline I know where I'm going." James replied

I rolled my eyes at his stubbornness "Sure you aren't, I'm going to call Dave." I said pulling up Dave's number only to have my phone snatched from my hands and thrown into the back "James what the hell!"

"I said I'm not lost. Now shut up Caroline please." he said gripping the steering wheel as he sped faster down the empty road

"Fine you aren't lost, now slow down please." I said shakily watching the scenery zoom past me in a blink of an eye. Stupid me, that only made him go even faster "James please slow down!" I said louder

"Shut the hell up!" James yelled going even faster

Tears welled in my eyes as I tried one more time for him to stop the car "Stop the car now James." I yelled getting my wish the car came to a halt. Reaching in the back for my cellphone I stepped out of the car shaking from fear and tears falling from my blue eyes

"Caroline get back in the car." James said walking toward me his voice more calm now then before

I shook my head "No I'm not getting in a car with you ever again."

"I'm sorry Care, now please get back in the car." he said breathing out trying to stay calm

"I asked you to slow down. Why didn't you?" I asked fresh tears falling

James sighed running a hand through his hair "I let my anger get the best of me." Taking my hand in his he looked into my eyes "I'm really sorry Care, now lets get home it's late."

I took my hand out of his and walked to the passenger side getting in without saying a word to him. The cool October air blew on my face sending a wave of calmness rushing over me. We reached James's house still nothing being said.

"I'm sorry Caroline, really I am." James spoke first since an hour ago

"It's fine." I replied grabbing the black shirt he held out for me.
