raelyn "hold my hand" billie told me when we walked inside the mall.

i laced our fingers together and looked over at tycee and maeve who were smirking at me. billies friends were making faces at us too.

oh yeah, tycee doesn't like me anymore.

she told me it was just a phase or some shit i don't know, but i found it funny.

"there you needy bitch" i giggled while swinging our hands back and forth.

"thank you" billie smirked at me while leaning close to my face.

we all decided to ditch school and spend the day at the mall. maeve wanted to watch a movie but we all turned her down because who would wanna watch a damn movie?

"oou, let's go into spencer's" tycee smirked and walked inside the store with maeve.

we all followed them inside and looked around.

we all went from store to store. billie and i ended up at a candle one, so right now we're just smelling candles and judging which ones are good or not.

"oh nah" billie made a face as she put the candle away from her nose. "this shit smells like old lady"

i smelled it and shook my head.

"yeah no" i made a face also and held a candle up to her nose. "smell this one though"

"oh my godd" she inhaled deeply and rolled her eyes back. "this smells so good, i'm gonna buy it"

the both of us bought two candles each and met up with our other friends. we were all deciding what to eat. the six of us agreed to get some cinnabon, so we had to go down to the first level.

i just got the cinnamon balls, whatever the fuck those are called, while the others got who knows what.

"can i have one" billie asked me while opening her mouth.

"no bitch" i turned away from her. "you have your own shit"

"please?" she gave me puppy eyes as she pouted.

i let out a huff and fed her one of my cinnamon balls.

we all sat down and ate then we went to peet's and ordered coffee like the basic bitches we are.

"no billie" i moved my coffee away from her. "i know that look on your face, you're not gonna have a sip"

"come on!" she laughed. "just a teeny sip"

"your sips are like gulps" zoe sent her a look. "don't give her any, she has her own"

"you guys are lame" billie huffed and took a sip of her own drink.

we all finished and started walking around again. billie dragged me into foot locker and made me help pick out some shoes for her.

"what about these?" i held up black and white jordan ones.

"i already have those" billie brushed me off while she stared at the shoes in front of her.

"damn" i mumbled as i put it back.

i just sat down and let her get whatever the hell she wants since she already has like half of the shoes here.

billie groaned and grabbed my wrist, "lets go" she told me while i got up quickly.

"can you at least grab your own bags" i sent her a look. "i'm not carrying your things"

"chill mckay" she turned around and cupped my face. "i'll grab my bags"

i handed them to her and we started walking back to our friends. they were all in some store i don't remember what it's called.

we all then walked around again and shopped in a few stores.

while we were walking, billie saw a photo booth and pulled me inside with her.

"what?" i giggled when she pushed me inside. "they're gonna realize we're not with them"

"let them" billie shrugged. "at least we'll take cute pictures and i can put it in the back of my phone"

i put our bags down on the floor in front of us while billie pressed on the screen to start taking pictures.

the camera counted down and it took a photo.

first picture billie and i were both flipping off the camera and the second picture our faces were pressed up against each other.

we're waiting for the third now since she's too busy looking at the screen to make sure she 'looks hot', which she does all the time.

"can i ask you a question?" i asked her while she pressed the button so the third picture can be taken.

"mmm, mhm" billie looked at me and leaned in.

the camera took our final picture and dispensed our photos.

"look how cute" billie gave me one while she placed the other on the back of her phone. "now when someone sees these picturesss"

"yeah" i fake laughed.

i did the same thing she did and put the picture in the back of my phone. they were cute, the first one was us flipping off the camera, second one is us with our cheeks pressed up against each other and making a silly face, and the third was us kissing.

we're just friends though so if shouldn't matter if someone sees these huh?

we snuck back up to our group and acted like we never left.

"where were you two" maeve nudged my arm as i walked next to her.

"nowhere" i giggled. "don't worry about it"

"did you give her head in the bathroom or what" she smirked.

we found a lounge area and sat down there. i was sitting next to billie and maeve. i was too busy looking at maeve phone so billie was getting annoyed i wasn't giving her any attention.

"isn't he hot?" maeve showed me a picture of some guy she's was talking too.

i saw billie side eye me and roll her eyes when i agreed with her.

"you can do better though" i told maeve while leaning onto billie.

she placed her chin on top of my head and nodded.

"you can do better" billie agreed with me.

"you haven't even seen him" maeve made a face.

"i don't need too" billie said while wrapping an arm around me. "if rae says you can do better, do better"

i let out a small giggle and she did too.

"so what are you guys?" maeve wiggled her brows at us.

"yeah!" drew looked at billie and i. "what even are you guys?"

"what she said" zoe smirked.

"come on" tycee had a smug face on. "don't be shy, tell us what y'all are"

"we're just friends" i told them while i squished billies face with my hand.

"yup" billie nodded. "we're just friends"

"just friends don't have matching chains" drew sent us a look.

"nor do they have a picture on the back of their phone kissing!" maeve added when she held my phone up.

i snatched it from her and shoved it in my hoodie pocket. "why you looking at my shit" i mumbled.

"we weren't even kissing" billie scoffed while taking her arm off of me. "i don't know what you saw, but it wasn't that"

everyone made a face when they noticed her whole mood changes.

i just shrugged and let her be.

they all went back to having their own little conversation with each other while i tried to talk to billie.

i rested my chin on her shoulder and slid my arm around her waist. "pirate" i whispered in her ear and kissed her neck.

"mckay" billie turned to me and gave me a small smile. "what's up?"

"i just wanted to make sure you aren't mad or something" i told her. "are you?"

"nah" she shook her head and giggled. "sorry, i was being a little defensive"

"it's okay" i chuckled while squeezing her waist.

"stop that" billie laughed and looked at me. "id kiss you right now but you know"

"right" i nodded. "kiss me later when no ones watching then"

we both began giggling for no reason.

after a few more minutes, all of us got up and left the mall. everyone's in my car, billie in the passenger seat, maeve and tycee are in the two seats behind us, and drew and zoe are behind them.

i drove back to my house which took about thirty minutes. when we arrived, i gave drew and zoe a little house tour so they don't get lost and feel unwelcome or whatever.

"i love your dogs!" zoe looked up at me and pouted as she pet zeus and bubba with drew.

"nah uh" billie kneeled down and called for bubba. "even though bubbas raes dog, she's mine"

"whatever" i giggled. "whatever makes you happy"

we all went inside the theater because we wanted to watch a movie. "give me a minute" i told everyone when i opened the door to go back out. "let me put the cd in"

"i'll go with you" drew said while coming over to me.

the both of us walked down the hall. i opened the shelf thing and looked through the movies. i chose the babadook and put it in so it can play.

"i just wanted to say thank you for making my best friend smile" drew told me while we walked back.

"what do you mean?" i made a face and turned around. "come with me to get blankets by the way"

"alright" she nodded and continued talking. "billies uh- she's a sad person, so seeing her smile and be all happy means a lot as to someone who's known her for years"

"oh" i smiled while handing her a few blankets. "i'd do anything to keep her happy then"

"do you like her?" drew asked me. "i promise i won't tell her if you do"

"yup" i let out a sigh. "i do like her, which is weird"

"why?" she furrowed her brows together.

"i don't do feelings" i told her. "and falling for someone is weird for me. i never fell for anyone but billies dumbass made me"

drew let out a giggle and looked at me. "well i think she likes you too" she smiled. "billie doesn't usually do these kind of this with someone. especially put a picture in the back of her phone"

"yeah" i giggled. "i don't either, but look at me now"

"just promise me you'll keep her happy" drew asked me seriously. "she's been through a lot"

"i promise" i nodded. "we're just friends though, but i promise i'll keep her happy"

"that'll change soon" drew hummed out. "just watch"

"yeah yeah whatever" i chuckled while we walked into the theater again.

i threw some blankets at maeve and ty while drew kept one and gave another to zoe. they were each sitting in one of the chairs at the top.

billie and i were sitting at the bottom on the long chairs so we can lay down. i offered if anyone wanted to lay on it but they all said no.

"here" i tossed the blanket at billie and laid down next to her.

she pulled me closer to her body and tossed the blanket over us as the movie started to play.

it was already dark and quiet in here.

i rested my head on billies chest while my leg was on top of her. she wrapped her arms around my body and held me close to her while we watched the movie.

"kiss me" billie whispered in my ear. "they're too busy watching it"

i titled my head up and pecked her lips a few times.

after i gave her the last one, she squeezed me and let out a content sigh. i really hope she feels the same way.

maybe, but relationships are so fucking scary.

but, imagining being with billie doesn't sound so bad. like right now i'm loving the way she's holding me. she's rubbing her hand up and down my arm while her chin rests on top of my head.

i love when we cuddle and i could hear her heart beat, just like right now.

i love how we laugh at the stupidest things and go out to eat late at night sometimes.

i love the way she treats my dogs because i find it so cute the way she is towards them.

i looked up at billie and saw that she was so infatuated by the movie. i placed a kiss on her jaw and laid my head back on her chest.

billie looked down at me and smiled.

she placed a kiss on my forehead and put her attention back on the movie while she began playing with my hair.

all the things we've done together, it can't be one side.

there has to be something between us.

i'm sure we both feel it, but we just pretend it's not there.

maybe it's for the best of us to not acknowledge it?
