Attack on Titan: Ryan's story/ Part 2

14:20, 18 August 2018

I was born inside wall Rose and lived there  for four years with my family. It was a pretty place. But it wasn't long before we moved into Wall Maria for financial reasons.

It might have been sad leaving Rose behind, but inside wall Maria was where I met my best friends.

Inside wall Maria, it was a pretty safe place so parents would let their kids roam free including mine.

Besides, with the Garrison around, no danger should come to the children….usually.

On Normal days living inside wall Maria, I was wondering the streets and I saw a boy laughing on top the shoulders of what looked like a guy from the Garrison regiment.

Both had smiles on their faces.

Could that be the boys father?

Eventually I found the boy alone one day. he was on top a roof.

But it wasn't just any ordinary rooftop...it was MY rooftop.

I wasn't mad or anything. Just confused and curious as to how he managed to get all the way up there.

“H-hey! W-what're you doing on my roof?” I called out.

“Why do you care?” He glared at me.

I gulped nervously.

Maybe I should just leave him be? It didn't seem like he'd do any harm, but…

“Well... because this is my house.”

The boy stared at me silently, not glaring anymore but drifted his eyes away.

“Whatever.”

W-whatever?!

He was pretty mean...but he seemed used to it.

“Um...can I ask? Um...who was that Garrison man you were sitting on top the other day?” I couldn't help but to be curious.

“My father. Do you have a problem?” He asked.

“Um...no,I just thought it was kinda cool….y’know, that your dad's part of the Garrison…” I answered as I altered my eyes shyly.

Nobody in my family is a soldier.

The boy suddenly came down from the rooftop, pretty dangerously though and he approached me with a excited look in his eyes and he reached out a hand at me.

“My name's Andreas! Who are you?”

I shook his hand and introduced my name as “Ryan”.

“Cool name.” He mentioned.

After that, he sat down with me at my porch and we started talking to each other about all the different branches you could join.

He even told me about the scouts. My parents always kept talk short when it came to the scouts. They would simply tell me it's foolish to go, people who join goes outside the walls into Titan territory and that it's suicide and steals away taxes.

The scouts was one of the reasons we had to move into Wall Maria and had to leave Wall Rose.

But when I told Andreas my lack of knowledge over the scouts regiment, he began telling me all about it, tons of interesting stories from people who were or are in the scouts who ventured outside.

“What they're doing is very admirable and important if we ever want to discover the truth about the titans and live outside once more. Buuuuut, I wanna join the Garrison and be more like my dad! Besides, I'd probably die if I went out there.”

“S-same…” I agreed.

“So? Do you wanna become a soldier too?”

“Um...yes, I was thinking about joining the Military police.”

“Awesome! That would be a honor! Y’know, serving near the king and carrying out special task and all.”

“Y-yeah...and um, I think you'd make a good Garrison member. You have heart and determination. I'm sure you'd do great like your father.”

“Thanks! I really hope to be nearly as great as my father! And I'm sure you will become an excellent Military police member.”

I smiled back at Andreas and he started to dart off.

Back in those days, he always seemed so happy. He may had liked being alone sometimes, a bit of a loner too but he opened up to me and we became friends. He also loved his family.

He kept his distance from many people. He kept his distance from other kids, adults and strangers. But when it came to me, Linda and his family, he always had time for us.

He would often hang out with his dad, even when he was on duty. He often hung out with his little sister too and would brag how he would one day become a great member of the Garrison just like their father, and his little sister always smiled at that. Whenever Andreas was happy, so was she.

My quick yet long tour around the camp was finally over and both me and Linda walked inside the Mess hall to grab a bite to eat.

While I was eating…

“So? Back at introduction I heard you wanna be part of the Military police. Is it true?” An arm wrapped itself around me and forced me closer towards the person.

My eyes scrolled over and I saw a young man, short brown hair and he….erm, seemed to have a horse face.

“Y-yeah…?” I answered nervously, scared what his reaction would be.

“Awesome! I'm planning on joining the Military police too! And so is Marco here!”

Another young man sat next to me. He had short black hair, brown eyes and freckles covering his cheeks.

“Hello!” He greeted with a kind smile.

So….these two are planning to join the Military police just like me?

Everyone who aims to join the Military police must have top scores in everything. They must have top scores in class, lessons, training, exams, test and that sort of thing whether it has to do with reading and writing along with taking notes, or if it's physical stuff.

Although I wonder if I really should be hanging around these guys….Marco is ok, we both share the same dream for the same reasons, but Jean wants to become part of the Military police just so he could hide and sleep in the interior and he doesn't even seem to be thinking about his duties once he's there….

There's a lot of interesting new people here.

After a while everyone slowly started to leave the Mess hall to head into the camps dorm rooms.

But after standing up and taking a few steps away from my seat, I moved far too quickly and recklessly and crashed into a girl who let out a shout who was about to fall face front on the floor-!!

I panicked and pulled her close and luckily that prevented her from hurting herself.

Phew….

I removed myself from her and asked if she was alright.

She turned around and stuttered yeah and thanked me for saving her from falling.

I immediately blushed when she turned around to face me.

She looked very cute!

But….I can't-! There's no time for love or anything of the sort, I'm aiming for the Military police and  most people won't even be able to make it into the top 10.

To become part of the Military police you need a high enough score in your training to be able to join that branch. Only the top ten get to join. The others can only have the choice of joining between the Garrison and the scouts.

Most people join the Garrison.

This girl probably won't be aiming for the Military police and will probably be aiming for the Garrison like the others.

I apologized to her for what just happened and she accepted my apology and told me that it was alright and that it was kind of me to catch her.

After that, we went our separate ways into different dorms.

The girls went to the girls dorm, the guys went into the guys dorm.

I laid on my bed and sighed.

This is going to be a really interesting four years of training and getting to know all these new different people.
