" Chapter 5 - Night Talk "

"Hmmm..."

I am in the library right now, thinking of what will be our theme on the upcoming festival.

I tried asking for help to my classmates but nothing make sense!

We decided to vote but some others didn't want to.

We decided to mix everything but it looked horrible!!

I let out a groan as I buried my face in the notebook that I'm holding.

A cafe? Haunted house? Game room? WHAT IS IT?!

"What's with the frown?"

I look up and saw Lucas, staring at me with worried eyes, I sat up quickly and accidentally hit his chin with my head.

"OOWWW!! What was that for?!" He yelled, holding his chin in pain.

"Y-you scared me!!" I exclaimed as I hold my head in pain.

"Be quiet!" The librarian yelled in the distance. "This is a library for goodness sake!"

"Sorry..." We both apologized.

I turned back to my notebook with a huff, ignoring Lucas behind me but there's something that's bugging me..

'What's with the frown?'

That line, I think I heard it somewhere..

Meh.. I must be crazy because of this work in front of me.

"What are you working up?" He took a seat in front of me, peeking in my notebook. "A love letter?"

"None of your business," I muttered.

"C'mon, we're neighbors, tell me," He pouted.

"So what? We're not even close to begin with..." I snapped.

"Tsk... So cold..."

"What are you even doing here?"

"I'm here to help."

I raised my eyebrow, "Do you think I'd believe that nonsense of yours?"

"No, but you looked you need help earlier in class."

What?

"How do you know that?" I frowned.

"How do I know, we're classmates remember? How did you not notice me, I'm really hurt right now," He acted hurt and clenched his chest.

Wow, that acting of yours should be given an award.

"You're lying.... Right?" I said.

"Why don't you ask our adviser?" He said.

I sighed in defeat.

He smirked, "I have an idea."

I looked at him with hopeful eyes, "What is it?!"

"And you think I'd tell you?" He said laughingly.

"Please Lucas Eleanor, the most handsome guy in the whole world, my beloved neighbor, and the smartest guy, even Albert Einstein can't beat you!!" I pleaded.

He chuckled, "You never change, huh.."

eh?

"What?"

"I said I'll tell you, so listen carefully, okay?"

"Okay!"

NEXT DAY

"I'M GONNA BE LATE!!!"

I ran downstairs, and quickly got myself a piece of bread.

"Are you sure you're okay with that?" Mom asked.

I nodded and kissed their cheeks goodbye.

"Take care!"

"I will!"

I ran outside and saw Lucas' mom,  we greeted each other.

"Why are you so in a hurry dear?" She asked, tilting her head.

"I'm very late right now!" I said in a hurry.

"Eh?! Lucas is still asleep," She blinked.

"What?!"

"Could you please wake him up for me? I'm just gonna buy something right now.." She pleaded then walked off.

"Eh... Uhmmm... O-okay?"

I made my way upstairs to Lucas' room.

Is it really okay?!

Well since I'm already here.. And I'm gonna be late!

Inhale, exhale...

I barge into Lucas' room with a loud thud on the door, "WAKE UP SNORELAX!!!!"

"Hrm... Five mo-- WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!" He exclaimed, his eyes widened as he sat up when he saw me in his room.

"No time to waste!! Get up now, we're gonna be late!!" I grabbed his blanket and rolled him off of his bed.

"What it's ear—" He looked at the time, he cursed under his breath and ran in the bathroom.

I wanna laugh at him right now, I mean it's rare to see him like that, with a messy hair and a surprised look on his face.

I ran back downstairs and decided to toast a bread for him or this skinny jerk will end up turning into a skeleton.

When he ran downstairs, he took the bread and grabbed my hand.

I looked at his other hand holding something, wait is that keys?!

"Are we driving?!" I asked, feeling nervous.

"We can't make it up if we go by foot!" He replied.

We arrived at his dad's car, his DAD's car!!

"Do you know how to drive?" I exclaimes.

He remained silent and did not look at me in the eye.

This guy...

I sighed, "Give me the key.."

"Are you sure?" He hesitated.

"Just give it already!"

He handed me the keys, and got into the car.

The truth is I don't know how to drive but I know how it works.

"Hold on tight," I turned on the car, "We're gonna fly."

AT THE SCHOOL

"Phew! We made it!!" I said as I ran into our classroom, holding Lucas' hand, looking pale.

"Athy!" Jenny approached us with Kiel following her.

"A-are you okay, man?" Kiel patted Lucas' back.

"Hell, it was hell..." He muttered. "I thought I saw my grandfather.."

"It's not that bad!" I said proudly.

"What happened?" Kiel frowned, eyeing at Lucas worriedly.

"There was turning... A-and spinning... We almost hit the wall..." Lucas stuttered. "Urgh.."

"I'm just gonna go and talk with Jenny," I smiled at them and walked away with Jenny.

"What happened between the two of you?" Jenne asked, worried.

"Let's just say we broke the law."

LUNCH BREAK

"So have you decided what will be our theme?" Jenny asked.

"Yep, it's a secret, I'll tell you later..." I whispered with a wink.

"What are you guys whispering about?!" Cass chimed in.

"It's about the theme of our classroom," I answered. "It's a secret though."

"Ooh, our class will be having a haunted house!" Helena said.

"Cool! I wanna see it!!" Jenny said.

"Soon!"

"Hey, it's Lucas!" Agnis said.

They looked up and saw the raven haired boy walking by our table.

Me? I'm okay, I'm tired of seeing his face every morning.

Unexpectedly, instead of walking by, he walked towards me.

"I forgot to give this to you, here's the materials for the theme," He said. "Better get all the materials okay?"

This bossy pants..

"Okay," I grabbed the list, and looked at it. "Thanks."

"Are you sure you can buy this all alone?" He asked with a frown.

I know you're just acting kind.

"No, I'm not alone, I'll be buying with Jenny tomorrow."

"Oh... Okay," He said and just walk away. He looked disappointed.

"Oooooohhhh!!!" Cass teased.

"Huh?"

"How can you talk to him fluently like that?!" Helena asked. "I'm jealous!!"

"Uhh.. Because we're classmates?" I said sarcastically.

"You and Jennette are both lucky, because you're classmates with Lucas!" Agnis whined.

"And also Kiel!!" Cass added. "Ugh, why are all the pretty boys is in your room?!"

Relax girls.. it's just the two of them..

They squealed in jealousy, while Jenny and I we're just smiling awkwardly.

AT CLASS

I let out a another bored sigh for the 15th time. Is there anything interesting in History, I mean it's all just basic learning.

This is what you get for studying early...

We went on and on, until the principal walked in our room.

"Excuse me students, I just want to talk to Mr. Eleanor and Ms. Obelia," He said.

Huh? What about me?

I'm sure Lucas has done something stupid, but me?

"Yes sir," We replied and walked out of the room with the principal.

We arrived at the main halls of the school and saw Lucas' dad.

Oh no...

I just realized somthing.

"I'll leave the 3 of you here, I'll be leaving now," The principal said and walked away.

And when the principal was out of view, Lucas' dad's smile disappeared, and gave us an earful of scolding.

AT NOON

Jennette and I went home together, walking side by side.

"Athy, I wanted to ask you.." Jenny said, facing me.

I hummed in response, "What is it?"

"These past few days you and Lucas seemed to be close.. I'm just asking that a-are the both of you... dating?" Jenny bit her bottom lip, regretting what she asked.

I almost tripped, what?!

Lucas and I?! DATING?!

"NO!! What do you mean close we're more like a cat and a dog!" I exclaimed.

"If you say so.." Jenny shrugged.

I sighed, "Look, please don't tell this to everyone, Lucas and I are.... neighbors..."

"Why do you want to keep that a secret?" She asked.

"I just hate rumors... since that guy looked so famous at our school..." I muttered.

"Okay, I promise," Jenny smiled.

"Jennyyyyy!! Thank you, you're the best cousin ever!! I promise that I'll treat you everything you want tomorrow!!" I hugged her.

She laughed and hugged me back, if I had a sister I want her to be like Jennette!

AT HOME

I brushed my hair while humming my favorite song, facing my mirror.

When I'm finished brushing my hair, suddenly my phone rings. I took my phone and accepted the call with a frown.

Who's calling at this hour?

"Hello?" I said.

"Go out at the balcony..." A familiar voice said.

I walked towards the balcony and I saw Lucas at his balcony.

"Sup.." He waved, smiling at me.

I sighed, "What is it?"

"What?"

"Why are you calling me? And how did you got my number?" I repeated, rolling my eyes.

"I just want to..." He smiled at me, ignoring my last question.

"Haha," I laughed sarcastically.

"Are you still mad at me?" He asked.

"Well yes, it's your fault for stealing your dad's car..." I huffed.

"It's your fault for yelling at me in the morning!"

"Well, your mom asked me to!"

"So it's my mom's fault?"

"No, it's your fault for not being early..."

Then he went silent..

"Hello?" I waved at him, then he looked at me tenderly. Even at this distance I can see his expression very clearly, what is this stare..?

"Sia..." He whispered.

His voice tickles my ears, making my heart thump loudly.

"Hm?" Was all I can utter.

"I'm sorry...." He said, leaning his head on the balcony rails, covering his face.

Is he flustered?

"Are you really Lucas?" I laughed.

"H-hey! I'm being kind to you, y'know!" He pouted.

"Yeah, yeah.. Apology accepted... But is that really hard for you to say it?" I still laughed at him.

"Whatever.." He muttered.

"Hahaha!!"

We went on and on, talking at the phone, laughing and arguing.

It's been awhile since I talked to someone like this.

Somehow it feels nostalgic...

I wonder why..

It feels like there's something I need to remember...

'I'll come after you!'

That voice kept ringing inside my head.

"Ahh, I missed this..." Lucas muttered.

"What?"

"Nothing."

This guy... Sometimes he kept mumbling some weird things that I don't understand.. It feels like he knew me for a long time.

I shook my head mentaly.

I'm just thinking stupid things...

"It's late you should come back now," Lucas said.

"Yeah, It's kinda chilly now..." I shrugged.

"I'm going now," He waved at me.

"Okay, good night Lucas," I waved back.

"Good night too, Sia..." He ended the call, but then he mouthed something I didn't get.

I ignored it and go back to my room and sleep.

Lucas' Perspective:

I watched her go back in to her room and shut the balcony doors.

I sighed.

Did you really not remember....?

Her smiling image suddenly came to my mind.

"It's cold.. gotta sleep now..." I stretched my arms as I walk in to my room.

I glanced at her room and smiled.
