Chapter 10

"I like you." Zak whispers into my ear one more time, before walking out of the toilets. I watch him leave, I could feel my face heat up as I blush instantly. I think I like him too..-I smile as I remember his touch on my waist, it still made me light up inside. There was something about Zak that excited me. He made me feel ignited. He was just so... real. And I loved it.-I look into the mirror which hung, slanted, on the nearby wall. My face was bright red. I gave myself a moment to calm myself down before leaving the toilets to go back to the auditorium. -After I'm more relaxed, I walk out of the toilets. My eyes are met with another pair. It's Caroline, the girl I just recently met. "Oh. Hello!" I say, smiling and waving at her. -She walks over to me and smiles, "Hi!" She replies. "I didn't see you in the auditorium last night?" I ask, curiously. "I'm not very noticeable. I just slept in the far corner behind the stage on my own." She says, awkwardly avoiding my strong eye contact. -I look up at her. "You were alone? All night?" I ask her, feeling kinda bad for the short, fragile-looking girl. "Yeah." She admits, embarrassingly. "Do you wanna come sit with my friends for however long is left of the sleepover?" I say, placing my hand on her shoulder. "That'd be amazing." She says, blushing slightly. When I see her cheeks turn a pale pinky colour I immediately remove my hand from her shoulder. I'm guessing she doesn't know I'm gay?-Me and Caroline walk into the auditorium and I lead her to my group of friends. Alex and Vincent are there now, they are sitting on the floor with Zak, all of them are chatting about god knows what."Guys. Meet Caroline." I say, making little 'jazz hands' while looking up at Caroline and then back at my friends. Caroline giggled awkwardly as she made a little wave, although she didn't say anything. "Hey! I'm Alex." Alex says, smiling as he waved back at her."Hello. Vincent." Vincent says, trying to sound cool. -Zak doesn't say anything, which I find odd. So, since he's probably not going to introduce himself, I do it for him. "And that's Zak." I say, pointing to the black haired male who stood before me. Caroline smiled at him. "It's nice meeting you all." She says, fiddling with her fingers, awkwardly. -For some unknown reason, I can feel Zak's gaze never leave my face while I'm talking to Caroline. What's his issue? "Uhm so yeah! That happened yesterday." She says, giggling slightly. "No way! That's hilarious." I laugh, trying to stay quiet since everyone else in the auditorium is still sleeping, except for the teachers. -I glance over at Zak to see if he's still staring at me. And yep, he is. I make an 'what?' expression at him, and he rolls his eyes. "So, Caroline. How did you and Darryl meet?" He asks, looking deeply into her eyes, intimidatingly. Alex must've noticed this, and that's why he said "Ooooh. Calm down Zak. No need to get all overprotective of your boyfriend."-I can feel my face flare up as I facepalm. I look up at Zak and he is also bright red. He looks at me and we contain eye contact for what seems like forever. "Boyfriend? You two are..." Caroline says, awkwardly raising an eyebrow."N-No!" I clarify as I scratch the back of my neck, awkwardly. -I can still feel Zak's gaze trailing across my face. I lean my head over to him, as subtle as possible, and whisper into his ear. "What is your problem?" He doesn't reply, he just scoffs and continues talking endlessly with Vincent and Alex, clearly excluding Caroline. 'Why is he acting like this?' I wonder to myself, as my eyes go down to the floor. -I'm confused, and I suppose that's why I ask Zak something. "Hey. Would you mind coming to the vending machines with me?" Zak doesn't say anything, he just gives me a lil nod and then slowly follows behind me as I lead him to the snack machines. -Vote? <3
