The Confrontation
00:00, 15 May 2025Lucy drove toward Tim's office, her mind racing. She had imagined this moment so many times, but now that it was real, she felt the weight of what she was about to do.She found a spot to park a couple of blocks away, her hands still shaking as she grabbed her phone to check the time. She had about ten minutes before she'd be walking into his office. But before she could open her door, she spotted a black SUV turning down the street. She froze when she recognized the driver behind the wheel—Tim.Lucy's heart skipped a beat. Was he... following her?She ducked down in her seat, hoping he hadn't seen her. A part of her wanted to call him out, demand why he was here, but another part of her knew that confronting him might not help anything. She had made the decision to tell him the truth today, but she didn't expect him to show up out of nowhere like this. The SUV slowed and parked across from where she sat. Tim stepped out of the car, looking around, and then—just like that—he saw her."Lucy!" he called out, his voice cutting through the air.She hesitated, her stomach tightening. She wasn't ready for this. Not like this. But she knew there was no turning back now. Tim walked over to her car, his face hard to read, but there was a tension in his steps. He reached her car door and knocked softly. "We need to talk."She rolled down the window, forcing a small smile. "What are you doing here, Tim?"He gave her a pointed look, his eyes narrowing. "Following you, apparently. I saw you drop someone off at school. Who was that?"Her stomach dropped. Of course, he had seen. The truth, it seemed, had already started to unravel itself."That's... that's my daughter," Lucy said softly, avoiding his gaze. "Charlotte."Tim blinked, processing the information. "Your daughter? You never told me you had a kid."Lucy bit her lip, the weight of the truth hanging heavily between them. "I wasn't sure how to bring it up. And after everything that happened between us, it didn't feel like the right time.""Why now, then?" Tim asked, his voice quieter now but still edged with something unreadable. "What made you decide today?"Lucy paused, her hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly her knuckles turned white. "She deserves to know her father. I can't keep this from you anymore."Tim's face softened, but there was still a shadow of something unsettled in his eyes. He took a step back, crossing his arms over his chest. "So why didn't you tell me before? All this time... and now you're just showing up with this bombshell?""I wasn't ready. And... I thought you wouldn't want to know," Lucy admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "I thought I could do it on my own."Tim's expression faltered. "But you didn't even give me a chance to decide."There was a long silence as they stood there, tension thick in the air. Tim took another step closer, looking her in the eyes. "You should have told me sooner, Lucy."Lucy nodded, her chest tight with regret. "I know."Tim turned, walking toward his SUV without saying another word. Before he got in, he looked over his shoulder at her."I need time to think about this," he said, his voice laced with frustration and confusion. "This is a lot to process."Lucy watched him walk away, her heart pounding in her chest. The conversation hadn't gone as she'd expected, but at least it was out in the open now.As Tim drove off, Lucy let out a shaky breath, her body still tense from the confrontation. She had told him, and now there was no going back. But what would come next?
