Chapter 5: My Troubles
00:46, 2 June 2023Left neglected by a small society below the rainy and noisy sky. Alone and embraced by the icy wind in which roared harmfully. Unsafe and with fear, Deku layed on the concrete floor in the ever darkest alleyway, being showered by the unlimited raindrops. He was unconcious only for long hours until he finally woke up from his uncomfortable position. He felt numb by the pain that traveled throughout his whole body. He couldn't move besides that, having trouble to apart his eyes and react to the freezing drops.
"What...where..." Confused, Deku mumbled beneath his rough voice. The rain had washed away his bloody face, but his injuries remained visible apart from his pain. He finally trembled and felt the low temperature arising through his senses. He sat up extremely slow to prevent increasing the pain in his legs, arms, back, and chest. Taking a look at his uniform, he saw his messy shirt and rightfully did it back in place.
While that happened, he got wetter from the rain and looked up to see the downright black sky. He groaned and looked around the floor.
His backpack was there all soaked up. Deku rubbed his face with his hand before trying to stand up. He had a headache. He shivered from coldness and stumbled within his steps. Even though he couldn't see, the moon that hid behind the buildings shined enough for him to see its outline. After Deku reached his freezing backpack, he kneeled and unzipped the lower part. There he searched for his phone. Only a black screen. It was off.
Filled with slight anguish, he sighed frustrated. It was night. It was raining. He wasn't lost but rather stucked in a troublesome situation. He was beaten up. He couldn't tell his mother the truth, he thought. Deku stood up successfully this time and picked up his backpack. It felt heavier considering how he felt weaker, too. Deku took little steps as he walked looking at the floor. He grabbed onto his straps and frowned. He headed towards the nearest convenience store.
Slow but eventually, Deku tried to anonymously enter the store without any from the outside seeing him. He entered all wet and with a severely harmed face. Deku was just too weak to be mindful. So, he continued. As he walked passed a few aisles, he tried to find a pack of cheap medical supplies. These had to include at least alcohol and enough bandages. Along with the inability to focus, he was sleepy.
Once grabbing one with his messed up hand, worthing 1549.88 yens, he barely walked straight to the cash register. The worker, surprised to attend anyone at that time, was a fairly-aged woman. She turned as she saw the boy near to her direction, noticing his depressing appearance. Deku unbotheredly placed the pack on the counter, leaving wet drops on the surface from his hand. He flipped his bag and took out the yens. Then, he slid it on the smooth counter. With that, he looked down troubled and lost.
"Will that be all, sir?" She asked with slight hint of worry in her words. Despite that, she followed along with her job and registered the money anyways. "Yes" Deku mumbled and raised his head to see properly. "Okay then, that would be 177-" "Ah, gosh! Your face, my dear. It's so injured! What happened?" She questioned with uneasiness from his disformed face. Her worries then rose adequately, now paying attention to this unknown and alone kid.
"I-..." Deku started. "It's nothing, ma'am." His eyes opened, almost happy to be able to tell someone about his problem, but soon faded when thinking about the aftermath. He turned down. "Kid, please tell me. At least let me treat your wounds!" She requested concerningly from the other side. Deku hesitated in an instant, feeling unsure whether to let someone help his own mistake.
"If you insist...and if that isn't a problem..." Deku silently muttered while looking at the tiles. He felt uncomfortable but needed aid either way.
---
"So that's what happened. Still, it's unbelievable that they injured you very bad. And also, that you were left there for the whole day" the fairly-aged woman considerately recounted. She was cleaning his aching cheek before applying a bandage. They were both behind the cash register, something that made Deku doubt whether it was okay for him to be there, too. He sat at the chair while the woman kneeled to cover his harmed cheeks and forehead.
"I-uh, I deserved it.." Deku said back, lowering his eyes with guilt. He hadn't told her the true story. He gave off a whole new one. Including, he didn't mention her what was actually making him unable to walk straight: his back. If he did, then she maybe wouldn't have treated it regardless considering that he was a teen. If she did treat it, she would see the mark.
He made up a quick story. When it was lunch period, he scammed a group of students into giving him their lunch money. After they found out the truth, they avenged on what they wasted into beating him relentlessly. The woman firstly snickered at the story, unaware of the dreadful truth behind it. Something even worse than it. But she got a hold as she got back the idea of healing him, something more important.
Even if it was stupid, his injuries weren't. The fact that the kid was alone was also concerning.
"You're feeling better know?" She asked as she parted away, already with the bandages on his face. "I-I guess..." Deku lowly replied with his hands trembling together. With a smile, she stood up and gave him a dried handkerchief made out of cotton. Deku hesitated and gently took it.
"Of course, I don't have a towel. But please, keep it so you could clean your face and your hair. Also take this umbrella." She said while she picked up a blue umbrella that layed on the smooth ground. "Ahah! Thanks" Deku appreciated. "No worries. If your phone's charged and you can call your mom, then you can go, sweety." The fairly-aged woman reminded the green-haired boy.
Deku stood up from the seat, feeling a little pressure on his face. He went to his phone in which layed on the wooden counter and was plugged to an unfamiliar wire. By detaching it, he checked the screen and it said 45%.
"It-it's charged, ma'am" Deku informed while he looked back at the busy woman. It wasn't as much as he expected, but he wanted to get out of that awkward tension. "Ahh, okay. You can go, dear. And if you ever need help again, you can come here anytime. Many people don't buy in here as much." She finished by saying as she handed him the umbrella. He grabbed it.
Once leaving that room, at the door Deku said goodbye to that nice person despite the awkwardness. He opened it and afterwards he opened the umbrellas wings as he started walking below the rainy.
"I was scared to ask what time it was. I hope mom didn't call me a lot of times. I don't want to worry her."
The phone turned on as the power button was being pressed. A while later, his phone's screen popped and he unlocked it.
No messages. No calls.
It was 8:26PM, how come his mother hadn't called him? Funny, wasn't it? He wished for none but his realized-wishes even confused him. Being brought down by his overthinking, Deku decided to not call or text her. It seemed out of character, but he preferred coming home and telling his excuse.
The night was out of pure agony. It was what allowed Deku to go back and think about what occurred. He was thrown as if he was frivolous in the darkest place. Before that, he was tormented, humiliated, and beaten. Being with Bakugo was dangerous. He couldn't believe how his 'fans' or other admirers took his pride way too far. Or maybe, it wasn't even his pride. Maybe it was because they respected him too much. Either way, it all shocked Deku from realization of his popularity.
Apart from that, Deku thought of school. The students knew. All of them. And not only that, but he got the nerves to kiss Kacchan first. Because of it, the kiss was much more heated while it was mixed with Bakugo's aggressiveness. It eventually led to something way too far in spite of them being in school. Kacchan's touch on a part of his body aroused him. Deku had to change the thought after having the effects.
The doctor's appointment; he totally skipped it. Arriving late was fine, but skipping it was enough for Deku to become nervous to see him again. He didn't want his anger or his suspicions. Maybe it was time for him to request a change in his schedule? Besides, he needed it for homework and personal time.
Finally, Deku arrived. Quietly, he opened the door to his apartment in which sustained silence.
"Mom?" Deku called while the keys remained on the lock. He took it afterwards. While checking the place, he went up to her mother's room. By carefully opening the door, he got a glimpse of her sleeping peacefully. Maybe her mother thought that her son was fine? Maybe she was too tired? Maybe she thought he was reasonably busy or out with a friend? Anyway, it was confusing for her to not leave any messages. Maybe because he had already reassured her hours ago.
---
And it seemed like it was. She thought her son was out with a friend and refused to use his phone constantly. It was something too detailed to assume. It was Monday, three days later. Deku right now walked as he headed to his school. This time he was already closer. The morning repeated its colors and its rising rays. The school building and the outside remained occupied.
Deku passed the gates and noticed less people outside. The inside of the school, however, was filled and rather blocked by everybody. He eventually went inside.
As he walked in the middle, students noticed him and backed away from his path in unison. They all had those remarkable and disgusted faces directing to his eyes. Along with that, they all held their phones aside. Some others made frowns and others had that terrible stare. Deku was confused and nervous. He thought it was because of the bandages in his face.
Already had passed that odd hallway, he headed towards his and that's where he noticed. Everybody backed away from him, as if he was a virus. Deku disliked this attention and hid his face by looking at the floor. Then, that's when he actually find out.
"Midoriya...is this real?" His friend with pigtails asked as she stood in the middle of his steps. She held up her phone for him to see and the most devastating image was there. A photo that showed his neck, his shoulder and the bite mark. Deku's face explained it all. He had that face in which his soul left his body. Along with a terrifying "what?!", he violently turned his head around. Everybody had the same picture. Everybody saw it. Everybody knew. Anxiety crept onto Deku and he couldn't speak. He couldn't think. His friend had a disappointed face.
"Midoriya" Someone said from behind the boy. Deku slowly turned back while being brought down by stress. A tall woman in her 40's spoke. At her side, there was a larger but shorter man which was the principal of the school. "Please, come with us."
'Shit.'
Deku was guided to the principal's office. Inside, Bakugo already sat with such anger that striked through him. He sat direspectfully and kept a stare of hatred. Deku couldn't look at him directly as the woman brought him at the chair at his side. They both sat near each other, and it was more awkward than being in that convenience store. The woman stood at Deku's side, probably to be in charge of handling things if they get out of control. The principal, he went up to his desk and sat comfortably, ready to question them.
"I'm sure you already understand why you're both here" He started by mentioning, earning an annoyed groan from the blond-haired.
"For the past week, we've been hearing rumors of a relationship between you two, am I correct?" He continued, looking at Deku and and at Bakugo with eyebrows that looked for confirmation. The green-haired boy was trembling and had his hands shaking on his thighs. Bakugo had his legs on top of the other and barely had eye-contact. None replied, only silence. "Okay..." Giving up, he said back.
"The rumors weren't a big deal until what happened yesterday and today. You see, students represent the school. Our school, a bad one it is not. But you two, if people from other places found out about this, it would affect our reputation. What you're both doing is ultimately wrong. You would be expelled if you continue this" The principal harshly said.
"Why should I give a damn care to your school?" Bakugo commented back, with his head on the chair.
"Because it is your school, too, young Bakugo. Your attitude also affects people's views. But that can be altered by your enterprising quirk" The principal admitted siding controversially, mostly praising him.
"And you, Midoriya. All you have done is lie to everyone. To the school nurse, to the teachers, and to your parents. What good do you bring us? A picture of your neck?" The principal rather roasted at the only one who struggled mentally. Bakugo, at his side, spat out of laughter uncontrollably. Deku felt his tears arising, but shut them off right after. The woman at his side placed her hand on his shoulder. He had earned her sympathy.
"Well, and that's not it" The headache as a person resumed. "You two are boys and kids. You shouldn't be doing these stuff in the first place. For that reason, I have decided to call your parents and inform them about it."
Deku tears ceased to exist, and his eyes only widened. He remained clenching on his clothes. 'Call? Call?! No... my mother can't know!'
"Don't" Bakugo simply commanded without signs of anxiety. The principal's eyebrows went up from doubt. "And why should I listen to you?" The principal asked in confusion. "If you do, we won't do as you say" Bakugo said back.
"Then I could easily expell you, Bakugo."
"Nah, you know that won't happen because I'm the best student here. If I'm gone so will the school be. I'm responsible for the rankings of the top students and for its popularity of the best quirks among the school. Think about it."
Bakugo was smoothly blackmailing the principal himself. Deku still didn't look at him, but thanked him for the luck. Beneath this talk, what nobody knew and what nobody noticed was Deku's resistance. He had held it ever since he entered in the office. He was sweating and shaking and breathing heavily. They though it was because he was frustrated, but it was more.
The only one who assumed at least something was Bakugo. Because of course, he was aware.
"Bakugo, I agree with what you say. But that doesn't justify the need to call your parents. I'll give a thought for a while and during that period you both stay away from each other" He finalized, at last. Bakugo formed a noticeable smirk, proud, and Deku sighed of relief.
"That's it!" The woman aside told to Deku in order to ease him. She smiled at him that everything would be okay. Deku appreciated her concern, but she did not know anything.
Both were guided to the door, and then were told to go to their classes before the period started. There was four minutes left. After then, the door shut behind the two boys. Before Deku even stepped forward, Bakugo grabbed his collar with both hands and slammed him on the wall at their right. He was angry.
"Ah- ow!" Deku blurted.
"You...I fucking knew you would give me more problems" Bakugo argued angrily while his eyes madly stared at Deku's. "I told you to be careful! You idiot! Why couldn't you do such as thing?!" He yelled back a little lower for no one to hear as he pushed him back against the wall again harder.
"Eghn!" Deku yelped with the inability to speak considering his condition. He was just breathing heavily and the breath met Bakugo's face. Noticing, he slyly smiled.
"Mmmm... too bad, Deku. You'll have to bare with it without me all day" He teased as he neared his face for intimidation. The green-haired let out a small whimper. Bakugo planned on leaving him flat, but before that, he wanted to leave him needy.
Bakugo crushed his lips on Deku's while he remained his grip. Then, he stuck his tongue again and moved it playfully. Deku drowned into the spell regardless of the toxicity and followed along. Bakugo pushed his lips rudely on his while he moved his tongue continously inside him. Deku couldn't help but moan in his mouth. In which, Bakugo didn't like and bit his tongue. This time Deku liked it and his heart beated faster for it.
After that sudden impulse, Bakugo released his hold and make Deku fall on the floor. He yelped again from the pain given on his bottom. The other only stood there looking down at him. The green-haired did the same but scared. Then, Bakugo started walking away, probably to his first period, and Deku was left alone yet again.
His heart shattered for the third or fourth time. He didn't even know. He was left there used and toyed up again.
---
School ended.
During lunch, the girl came across Deku in the grassy ground. She received a string of cheese and she intentionally dropped it so ants could climb on it. She basically ate it like that. Deku ached from the heart but his brain wished to see Bakugo again. After the morning kiss, he's fantasize but then brush it off. He hated himself for becoming someone that he was not. Only that in his case he couldn't do anything about it.
Bakugo didn't even take a look at Deku at lunch. He didn't bother. Since he wasn't reaching him out, Deku was. He had grown those feelings ever since the morning hroughout the whole day. But he had managed to hide them in order to prevent stares.
The last period Bakugo was in Deku's class. Deku had given up on his schedule and stopped leaving the classroom a few minutes before. However, this was when his feelings developed again. When the bell rang, he remained in class to finish his notes. He also thought that it would be better to not get punched or pushed by anyone. Everyone was agaisnt him, that was why. Class felt safer and a more productive place.
Bakugo also remained in class as the teacher left the room. Surprisingly, Deku didn't notice and continued to write with his noisy pencil. Then, he heard someone stand up from their seat and walk towards the door. Behind him, he felt a few soft hits on his shoulder, commanding for Deku to turn to them. Deku quickly turned his head and saw Bakugo leave the classroom. Once he noticed, his heart shook. He got nervous.
Deku barely walked outside. He opened the door to the school's entrance and exited. He saw Bakugo at the gates, waiting patiently and with his hands hidden in his pockets. Deku trembled and felt dizzy as he got nearer to him.
"Wha-what-Wha- is it Kacchan?" Deku stuttered with fear as he stood by his side.
"Come with me to my house" He demanded, expecting no exceptions.
"Wha-what? But I- uh I have a doctor's appointment" Deku made an excuse, but yearned deeply without a thought.
"Then skip it. Come on, follow me" Bakugo replied casually as he turned to walk to the sidewalk. Deku struggled to make choices. He stood staring at the ground and his eyes big.
"I-I can't..." He considered as his own voice tripped.
"Deku, come on."
The green-haired boy looked up at those frightening eyes. Because of their manipulation, Deku gave in. He slowly took out his phone with regret and pressure in his orbs, and texted to someone:
'Sent at 3:19: 'Mom, I'm going to go to Kacchan's house. I'll come home later.'
