Chapter forty: Take a pic

Henry and I walked down the sidewalks to a local coffee shop situated near the centre of the town which would cause a stir in the works. We walked in, hand in hand with big smiles outstretched on our faces. I ordered myself a mocha and Henry decided on the same.

"So how's the famous life going?" I queried whilst wiggling my brows "I told you about my shit show of a life so how about you enlighten me with some good news ?"

Henry rolled his eyes and pretended to act all flustered "me? A celebrity. That could never be me" he pondered on with a chiselled smile. "Pfft it's okay I guess. Could be worse"

I frowned and kicked his shin under the table playfully "come on, do you get many girls running after you or?"

Henry shrugged lazily "yeah I guess so. It's good and it's nice going out and being able to buy what you want. One of the many perks"

I nodded my head in approval "how did I end up knowing two celebrities so well" I sipped my hot beverage and sighed "you know I really don't have it good though. Like sure I have Ember but she is the only good thing really. Look at you living your best life"

Henry tilted his head "Maeve you have achieved so much. More than most. Look at what happened with your dad. For normal people that would break them but you kept on fighting"

I began to sway my cup side to side in thought "I don't tend to think about that anymore. It's strange. It's one big blur"

I put my cup down and felt numbness surround my heart once more. It's true, I had a shit upbringing. Henry grabbed my hands softly and squeezed them "that's why you're so strong. Because your mind has decided to fight off those bad memories. I'm proud of you"

Henry stared at me adoringly with his beautiful blue eyes that made my heart flutter, something was there between us and I couldn't deny that. "Henry.. back in the day did you ever think we would end up together ?"

Henry pursed his lips "maybe at one point. I was kind of head over hills" he admitted coyly "but you were Evan mad and I didn't want to disrupt that whole ordeal"

I smirked "you Henry Cavill had the hots for me?" I raised my eyebrows and looked down at our entwined hands. "I am a lucky girl then I suppose. Look at you.. you've grown"

Henry chuckled and tilted his head down "and so have you. Into a beautiful, outstanding woman who is also an incredible mother"

I blushed "thank you Henry. It does mean a lot to me.." I trailed off in thought and began thinking about what my life would of been like if I chose the good guy. My desire for a bad guy has truly fucked me over.

My phone decided to go off which confused me as I wasn't popular with the whole texts thing. Once I peeled open the message I saw it was from the same anonymous number. "Who is it?" Henry asked as he stared intently at my pale ridden face.

I gulped saliva "it's the same number that texted me with the link of Emma and Evan kissing"

Henry frowned "do you want me to read it or whatever first?"

I nodded appreciatively and passed him my phone in which his entire expression contorted into pure and utter rage. "M-Maeve you shouldn't see this"

Furrowing my eyebrows I lunged for my phone but he pulled it back and tried to delete it. "Henry don't be a dick and give me my phone!"

Henry sighed and shook his head as he passed me it. I clicked on the link with my blood already boiling, knowing it would be to do with Evan.

'Evan and Emma seen kissing sweetly on a romantic woodland stroll. They then signed autographs for some fans and proceeded holding hands down the sidewalk. Could this be the best couple of the year?'

There was then a photo of them holding hands and laughing as they walked like they hadn't a care in the world. My stomach flipped and I couldn't help but burst out crying, tears instantly coated my cheeks and wetted them. "I-I fucking hate him. I swear he does this on purpose"

Henry grabbed my wrist "Maeve. Ignore this shit and block the number-

"Can't you see! This is all a game. I'm such an idiot" I continued. Since when did I get so fucking unlucky. "Have I got mug written across my forehead Henry? Do I!?"

In desperation I clutched my hair into my hands whilst i uncontrollably sobbed. People in the coffee shop looked at me wearily whilst others talked amongst one another. But I didn't care, I was having a full on panic attack.

My breathing was getting caught in my throat and I suddenly felt like I couldn't breathe. "H-Henry I can't do this" I choked, my eyes now bagged and red.

Henry stood up and sat next to me and wrapped his strong arms around my petite frame "it's going to be just fine. I promise you. We will make him regret this shit"

Evan POV

Every fibre in my body was hurting, I missed Maeve and all I wanted was her. I wanted her and our daughter in my home watching movies and playing games. I wanted to feel Maeve's skin against mine whilst her lips curled into a smile. I wanted that life- not this.

Looking around I saw Emma powdering her face and taking selfies. Groaning to myself I rolled over on the couch and buried my head into the cushions. "Why are you so fucking moody" she hissed

"Maybe because you're literally a psychopath" I sneered with distaste. I just wanted to see her life crumble in-front of her, I couldn't imagine how Maeve feels.

"Oh stop it will you, you big baby" she scoffed patronisingly "I'm the best ass you could get. Be grateful"

I rolled my eyes and continued my self pitying "whatever Emma. I'll find a way to ruin your whole fucking life. Don't test me"

"And then what? The tabloids get out.. Evan peters is abusive and beat his pregnant girlfriend ?" She jeered with her hand on her hip. "Do you really want that to happen as that could be a jail sentence.."

Emma got one of her friends to beat her when I first broke it off, she had black eyes and a busted lip. She was going to blame it all on me and share the photos she took, it was her little game. Then the whole pregnancy thing, she got another friend to piss on a stick and then Emma held it up to take a photo. She absolutely disgusted me and I wasn't sure how I was going to get out of this.

"Just be thankful I got you away from that- gothic bitch" she chortled. It's funny she says that because Maeve wasn't even gothic, she just liked the colour black and wore eyeliner.

I'll find a way Maeve, I promise.
