Chapter 27
15:51, 22 January 2023Hana's POV
It wasn't until evening that Crowley summoned me to his office again. I had hoped I could avoid him the remaining of the day if I just stayed in my room, but when Chess knocked on my door telling me to go to his office I felt conflicted. I was embarrassed, angry and confused all at once. At what he did, and at myself for allowing it and even enjoying it.Between then and now I've come to realize that I actually liked Crowley, although I couldn't for the life of me come up with why. It just felt... right. It must have been this bond that made me feel like this and I absolutely despised it. This was nothing like me.
I stood in front of his office door, ready to knock when Crowley's voice rang from inside."Just come in little mouse."
I furrowed my brows. I hadn't even made a sound yet, how did he know I was here?I opened the door and was greeted by Crowley's usual lazy smile. He was sitting in one of the uncomfortable chairs while there was a bowl and a spoon in front of the luxurious desk chair.I closed the door behind me and walked further into the room."How did you know I was outside the door?" I ask.He points at his nose, "I could smell you."I nodded in understanding even though I didn't understand that at all. I knew vampires had heightened senses but even so, my smell should not have been this obvious through the door.
"Take a seat and eat your dinner." Crowley motions to the bowl. I look at it and then back at Crowley and then back at the bowl. I slowly move to the other side of the desk and sit down in the big chair. It still felt weird that a vampire noble would give up his chair for a human. Yu would have laughed his as off.
Thinking about my friends suddenly made me lose my appetite. I missed them. I had no idea where they are or what they are doing, I'm not even sure they are still alive. None of the reports on Crowley's desk from this morning indicated that they had been captured or killed but I might have missed it with everything that had been going on.
"Are you not going to eat anything?" Crowley's question snaps me back to reality. I look up at him. He seems confused. I shake my head."I am." I reply and take a spoon full of yet again cold soup and shove it in my mouth.
Satisfied with seeing me eat, Crowley leans back into his chair. It is easy to forget who and what he is sometimes when his movements and overall attitude are so... so human like. "I talked with your lieutenant earlier." His words made my hand stop midway, spoon full of soup still dangling in the air between the bowl and my mouth. I look at him, waiting for him to continue.
"He wishes to speak to you, so I've arranged a meeting of some sort between just the two of you." He explains. I have a feeling something more is behind this but Crowley doesn't continue."Why have you agreed to this?" I ask suspiciously. "Don't get me wrong, it's very kind of you but there is more to it isn't there?" I press.Crowley looks around the room for a moment. His face a mask, wiped from any emotions. Finally he shrugs. Deciding not to answer my question at all.
Irritation starts to grow inside of me but I suppress it, and instead take a couple of spoon fulls of the soup.We both stayed silent the remaining of the time. When I finished my dinner I stood up, ready to leave the awkward situation we had ended up in.But when I walked past Crowley a hand shot out and grabbed me by the forearm. I turned to look at Crowley in confusion.
"Wait a moment." He says and lets me go. I watch in silence as he carefully pulls off his gloves and leaves them on the desk. He stands up and stands straight in front of me. I have to crane my neck to look up at him. He lets his hands hover open between us. He doesn't say anything, just stares at me with a heated gaze.I know what he wants, he wants me to make the decision to take his hands. To let that bond be felt again between us. I realize I actually have to fight myself to stop my hands from reaching for his.
Crowley notices my internal battle and gently says, "don't fight it little mouse, we're soul mates, it's bound to be."
I shake my head vigorously. If I could only resist these feelings long enough for me to find a way to escape then I won't have to be near him ever again. "Crowley" I begin seriously. "I will never be able to love you because of what you are, you know that right." I tell him honestly. It was true. The only thing keeping my sanity and feelings at bay was the fact that he was a vampire, and one who has killed many humans as well. I almost regret telling him that when I see the clear hurt flash in his eyes. His hands fall limply by his side.
I feel the tension and awkwardness building and try to escape this room once more, but as soon as I take a step towards the door Crowley's hand finds mine.Sparks run through me and a fuzzy warm feeling starts to blossom in the pit of my stomach. I look at him again. He seems determined all of a sudden and it frightens me.
"I can turn you. I can make you one of my kind. You'll be so much stronger than you are now. You would be immortal. There would be no reason for us not to be together then." He says. My blood turns to ice. My eyes widen in horror. I rip my hand from his and take a couple of steps closer to the door."If you turn me into one of you I will never forgive you, do you understand! I would make it my immortal life mission to kill you and every other blood sucker before I kill myself." I say harshly, all the memories of this war, the slavery and my old comrades flashing through my mind. Fueling my ever growing hatred and anger towards the vampires.Crowley looks horrified, hurt and sad all at once. But I don't care, I turn around on my heel and exit the office. Slamming the door behind me.
If I hadn't left the dagger under my mattress I would for sure have stabbed him.
If Crowley spoke true than I would be able to talk to Guren tomorrow and hopefully we find a way to escape.
