21:54, 19 August 2022Eclaire Adams was in trouble.
"Oh no oh no oh no!" She cried as she frantically searched her bedroom but it was nowhere to be found. She looked everywhere—Under the table, under the bed, under the mattress, behind the curtains but it wasn't there!
She plopped down on to the plush bed that Draco had bought just a month ago, dejected. She felt the sting of tears forming in her eyes.
"No!" She stood up promptly, slapping both her hands on her face. "I'm going to find it!" She said determined. She quickly put on a sweater and a pair of shorts. Tying her hair up into a ponytail, she grabbed her satchel and stepped out.
"Mom? Where are you going?" Eclaire turned around to face her ten year old son. Elijah Malfoy's hazel eyes fluttered as he looked at her innocently, his black hair neatly combed back.
"Eli! Good morning dear." Eclaire said, kissing him on the cheeks and hearing a soft good morning in return. "Mom is going to run a very important errand—"
"Did you lose something again?" Elijah asked quirking his head, his gaze knowing. Eclaire winced.
"I haven't lost it! It's just...temporarily missing." Eclaire said, smiling.
"Does dad know?" Elijah asked.
"Well no— and I would like it if it remained like that." Eclaire said sheepishly.
"Will you take me to Tim Horton's?" Elijah asked.
"Who's going to Tim Horton's?" Eclaire saw her youngest pop his head out, his curly dark hair bouncing atop his head.
"Mom's lost something again and she's going to take us to Tim's if we don't tell dad." Elijah looked back at his brother and explained.
Nine year old Jonah Malfoy's caramel skin lit up with excitement and he high-fived his brother. "Aight, bet."
"Bet? Bet what?" Eclaire asked confused. "And I made no such promise!" Eclaire whisper yelled.
"Then are we allowed to tell Dad?" Jonah asked, blinking innocently.
Eclaire gasped. Her own sons, blackmailing her. "You two take after your father so much." She finally sighed, shaking her head in defeat. "Get ready. I'll take you to Tim Horton's if we find what I'm looking for."
The duo didn't need to be told twice as they dashed to their rooms and were out within ten minutes. Eclaire left a voicemail for Draco telling him that she was taking the kids out for breakfast and that they'd be at their cafe by lunch.
"But what did you lose, Mom?" Jonah said getting into the back seat of their car with Elijah. Eclaire got in with them and sighed befire showing them her left hand. Both of them collectively gasped.
"You lost your ring?!" Both of them exclaimed at the same time.

Eclaire and her children got to searching as soon as they reached the grocery store that Eclaire always frequented.
"Are you sure you had it when you were here?" Eli asked looking through the aisles for a glittering piece of jewellery among a pile of broccoli.
"Yes! I know I had it just yesterday when I came to stock up on the items for the bakery!" Eclaire sighed looking through various assortments of eggs and dairy.
"Mom, I'm going to go check the flour section," Elijah said turning to face his mother, "And Jo, you go look in the fruits section." He said looking at his brother. Jonah nodded eagerly.
Eclaire looked at both of them teary-eyed. "It's okay, mom. We're going to find your ring." Elijah said as as he gave Eclaire a hug, his tiny arms wrapping around her torso. "Bet. And then you're gonna take us to Tim Horton's and forget that this even happened." Jonah grinned up at her, trying to lighten his mother's mood.
Eclaire smiled despite wanting nothing else than to cry. She watched as her kids dashed away to go look for something that she lost. Her wedding ring! She'd gone ahead and lost her wedding ring!
It had been the first thing Draco had bought with his muggle salary. They had been living in a rented apartment lacking even basic amenities that Draco had been used to his entire life and the first thing he had thought to get had been her wedding ring.
"We can buy houses whenever we want, midget but what makes it a home is you. You're my home." He had said when Eclaire had berated him for spending the amount equivalent to a house's downpayment on her ring. And she'd gone ahead and lost it! She was a terrible terrible wife.
"Excuse me?" Eclaire turned around to find a golden haired young man, clad in the store's uniform. His blue eyes blinked as he spoke to Eclaire. "Are you looking for something?"
"Yes, actually. I was here yesterday and I think I might have lost something." Eclaire said, nodding sheepishly.
"May I ask—"
"Sorry, we've checked all the aisles but it's not there— who is this?" Elijah's voice stopped as he gave a once over to the man who stood in front of his mother. Jonah's questionary gaze followed right after as the two brothers stood defensively in front of Eclaire.
"This man was just helping me find my ring." Eclaire said patting her sons' head, smiling at the man.
"Are these your brothers?" The young man asked and before Eclaire could answer, Jonah stepped in.
"No, we're her sons and we're looking for her wedding ring." Jonah said.
"Yes, the one you wear when you're married." Elijah added, both of them fixating their glare onto the man.
"Yeah, bro. Did you happen to see a wedding ring anywhere in your store?" Jonah said.
The man visibly quivered under the gaze of the two kids. Draco had taught them well.
Somewhere far away, Draco Malfoy sneezed.
"N-no, but I'll let you know right away if we find it. Can I have your number—" Both the kids fixated their glare harder, "to call if we find it! Nothing else!" The man raised both his hands.
"Ofcourse! Thank you so much!" Eclaire exclaimed as she gave him her number. "Let's go, kids. I don't think I lost it here, afterall." Eclaire sighed ushering both her kids to follow her as she held their hands. Elijah and Jonah gave one last stare at the man before hurrying after their mother.

"Sorry, mom. We couldn't find it." Elijah said, dejected.
"Yeah, sorry mom." Jonah added.
Eclaire looked down at her kids as they walked towards their cafe to meet Draco. Eclaire had to tell him.
"My babies, you tried your best. And it's my fault for losing something important in the first place. Thank you for helping me." Eclaire said, smiling tearingly at her kids.
Okay. You can do this. Eclaire told herself. The bell chimed as the trio walked in.
Draco Malfoy looked up from the counter with a big smile on his face. "Hey, midgets." He grinned at them.
Eclaire burst out crying at seeing him so happy. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to— I should've been more careful a-and I tried looking for it but—"
"It's not mom's fault—"
"We did try looking for it and—"
Draco stared at the blabbering trio with his hysterical woman in the middle blankly. "The bloo— heck are you talking about?!" He exclaimed walking to console his crying wife, looking down at his two kids flailing their arms.
"The ring!" All three screamed out at once.
"What ring?" Draco asked, confused beyond belief. It's too damn early for this. He thought to hinself with a sigh. Thank God the cafe isn't open yet.
"My wedding ring! I-I lost it and I tried looking for it everywhere but I couldn't find it. I looked throughout the house but it wasn't there and Eli and Jo found out and they tried to help and we went to the grocery store to look for it but it wasn't there and I don't know where I dropped it but I lost hmmph—" Draco put his palm against her mouth.
"Your wedding ring is with me. I took it this morning. I went to buy you another ring but the jeweller wanted your size and fu—frick if I know your size, I saw your ring on the counter so I took it with me to have it sized. Your ring is with me, Claire. Breathe." Draco explained as he released his hand.
"You have my ring?" Eclaire asked slowly.
Draco nodded as he pulled out her ring from his pocket along with another box. He put the rin on her ring finger and pulled out another diamond ring from the box and put it on her other hand and kissed it.
"Ew dad." Elijah scrunched his nose.
"Really Pa? We scrambled around trying to find the ring for hours and didn't even ask for Tim Horton's because mum was sad and all along it was with you?! That's mad cap!" Jonah exclaimed.
"Mad what?"

Elijah Malfoy and Jonah Malfoy were not biologically related to Eclaire and Draco. They were orphans roaming the streets of Toronto at ages four and five when they'd tried to snatch Eclaire's purse and make a run for it. Eclaire caught up to them and when she found the culprits to be two young orphaned children, naturally, she adopted them.
Eclaire Adams was infertile. Rose Creevey's curse that bound her legs and the repeated cruciatus curses that she had endured had ruptured her womb. Eclaire and Draco did not have any children of their own so finding Elijah and Jonah when she did, had felt like a push from God.
Draco despite his reservations about being a father did an excellent job at it, except the occasional curses that he let slip. And nothing could make Eclaire happier than being a mother, except being a mother to her lovely boys.
With the official end to the Malfoy line, their connection to the Wizarding World finally came to an end. Except the occasional visits from Yuko and some of Draco's and Eclaire's friends, the two had no ties with the Wizarding World and they loved the life they had created, together.
