What If | Forever
00:18, 2 February 2024Context : It's been some time since Sesshomaru and Kyoko have been a couple, but what happens when he leaves her for one day and things go wrong? The Tenseiga can save a life - but only once.
Reminder - This is a What If !!
- THIRD PERSON POV -
Panting, Kyoko set her bow onto the grass to hold herself up. She felt drained and tired. And she was - extremely.
Looking around her, she was outnumbered and surrounded by demons of all sorts.
It had been only a day since her lover, Sesshomaru had left, and now she was alone out in the woods after getting separated from Kaede and the other villagers.
Inuyasha and his friends were unfortunately away on a job to slay demons for another village.
Reaching towards her back, she grabbed am arrow from her quiver; putting it on her bow, and then raising it up.
Her spiritual energy was at its limit.
She had taken care of most of the demons earlier; and now she was greatly and immensely outmatched.
Breathing out, Kyoko shot her arrow at one brining them down and disintegrating them, before bringing one of her hands up in front of her and forming signs.
Releasing a pulse of her spiritual energy, Kyoko pushed them back with it - sending them somewhat away.
But it wasn't enough.
Lunging at her, demons grabbed her from all around as she tried to fend off each one with her abilities.
Gashes and new cuts formed along her arms, face, legs and her whole body as she slowly started to struggle from the blood loss from their attacks.
The situation wasn't looking good. Not at all.
Holding a deep and bleeding gash on her left arm, she tried not to focus on the pain.
Closing her eyes, Kyoko breathed out; a smile gracing her lips. She was ready - for one last attack to end them all.
Breathing out she formed signs with her right hand and released another, stronger wave then she had last attempted- disintegrating them all - but one.
Lunging at her, Kyoko moved out of the way trying to avoid them , but demon then turned around before she couldn't dodge him again.
In a split second, the demon sunk his long gnarly claws into her chest, grabbing ahold of it like she was nothing put some measly prey they could bite and claw into. And in their eyes - that's exactly what Kyoko was.
Stumbling on her own feet, she then raised her left hand up and grabbed the demons face, releasing her spiritual energy again, killing them once and for all.
That was the end. The battle was over- and she had won. Yet she didn't feel victorious- not at all.
Biting her lip hard, she stopped and instead gridded her teeth trying to block out the dizzy and painful state she was in.
Walking now, Kyoko herself felt weaker than the time she had been ambushed and killed by the panther demons. Sure she was strong, but no human is that powerful to face that many demons on their own .
Still going forward, Kyoko kept on toward, not sure where she was going, but only to get away from the slaughter and death.
She hadn't taken any pride or pleasure in killing demons. Mostly because, the being she loved was one.
Panting now, Kyoko found it hard to breathe.
Coming onto her knees now, she covered her chest with her right hand trying to stop the bleeding from her chest.
The wound was deep.
Coughing, Kyoko looked down to the grass that was below her seeing it now stained with blood that was dripping down her mouth and onto the ground.
Definitely not a good sign.
Trying to fight against the urge to fall down completely, Kyoko decided to wait. Wait for help, wait for someone to come.
Anything to come.
Help.
But instead she kneeled against the grass in the silence of the night, her wounds ailing - bleeding out.
- A Few Hours Later -
No one knew where she was.
That was her fault, mostly. Yet she couldn't deny that the villagers were in their right to stay behind and fight along side an old lady Priestess who could die at any moment. Kyoko knew that.
Blinking rapidly, Kyoko could barley see straight without black dots starting to fill her vision but then go away.
From what she could tell the day was starting to break slightly.
Still frozen still, Kyoko then took her right hand off her chest to cover her mouth, which more of the blood she needed to survive and stay awake came out and onto the ground with the rest.
Looking at it, Kyoko grew frantic even in her tired state.
She didn't want him to find her like this. She didn't what to look weak and fall like she had gone out before.
The two of them were now closer. With it, Sesshomaru had disclosed the Tenseigas ability. But with it - it's limit.
If she couldn't pull though this, this would be the last time she would walk among the land.
She couldn't have that. She needed to be here - for him.
- An Hour Later -
It was futile.
She was a powerful priestess, but she was only human. She wasn't an immortal demon or half demon who could heal fast.
This was it.
This was her last act. She couldn't hold on anymore and wait. Wait for anything. For help. For him.
Dropping the hand that she had put over her wound on her chest, she slipped it off letting it fall to her side.
Leaning back, she fell onto the grass - yet trying to stay awake.
Her stubbornness would not let her go.
Never. Not until he came. She had hope.
~
She hadn't not known when she'd done it, but at some point she had closed her eyes. She fought the urge to fall asleep, yet her body was fighting against her in a battle to make her give up.
Then it happened. She felt a warmth touch itself against her skin.
As she tried to soak in the feeling, she was shook slightly yet harshly - the faint sound of someone calling her name frantically causing her to open her eyes.
Looking through and past the black dots that had started to dot themselves over her sight, she set eyes on the last being she longed to see. Sesshomaru.
Seeing him again, she studied his expression, amazed at what she was seeing, thinking her eyes were fooling her.
Sesshomaru looked worried. Truly.
Nothing like she had ever seen on him before.
So of course - she imagined the state she was in was serious. Serious enough to make him look like that.
The unwavering one - was wavering.
Staring at him now, she tried to speak out, but instead brought out a harsh cough from her throat, the awful taste of her blood dripping from her mouth again.
Hearing Sesshomaru's muffled voice she bit her lip, summoning her all to speak - and after a few moments - she did.
"Sesshomaru ... I - I - I can't r-really ... h-hear you right n-now ... b- but I - I have a- a fe- few guesses .... about ... w-what your s- saying ..." she managed.
Struggling, she spoke out again, amazed that she could at this point. " I - I - I'm s-sorry."
Bringing his hand up to her cheek, Sesshomaru stroked it, brining his forehead to hers as he stared at her with the golden eyes she loved.
Smiling slightly, she looked at him with longing. She knew her fate now. There was no doubt about it. And Sesshomaru knew this as well.
Trying to focus on his voice, Kyoko gasped softly as she heard him speak out, his voice practically begging to tremble on each word. Yet his face was now no longer covered in worry, only that of his usual demeanor.
"Beloved. Don't ... apologize."
Grinning a little at his words, Kyoko coughed again, cringing from the searing pain in her chest as she moved.
"I'll ... belong to y-you forever... y- you d-don't have to f-forgive me ..." " I - it's t-too late ... for me now ..."
Still holding his forehead against hers, Sesshomaru stared at her unspeaking, gazing at her smile.
"T-till we ... meet a-again." She said.
Opening his mouth now, Sesshomaru no longer thought over his words.
He knew this would happen.
He was immortal. And she was not.
But not this soon.
He wanted to keep her by his side for as long as he could.
But now ... all he could do - was assure her ... and believe.
"I'll be back for you in the next lifetime."
Looking into his eyes again, Kyoko could feel him move slightly and closer, feeling the touch of his lips grace against her forehead.
Sesshomaru's final goodbye.
Relaxing now, Kyoko let herself go.
Sesshomaru's words were the reassurance she needed to finally let go.
~
Falling limp into his arms, Sesshomaru stared at the woman he called his love. Holding her closer, he held her for awhile tightly in his arms.
She was dead now, but she had engraved herself into him long ago upon their first meeting. She would soon be a memory to him.
But in his memories he could visit and remember her, love her.
Though she was not immortal and he was ...
Sesshomaru would forever carry her with him.
__________Authors Note - Hi Hi. Feel free to comment! ... Did I do okay on this one? :<
