Chapter 27

17:08, 30 August 2015

(Just a note before we start chapter 27: when I first started this fanfic in January, I was thinking of how many chapters there will be in this book. I thought about having 30 chapters and then making another book since I did quite a big plot twist now. So comment and tell me if you want me to carry on from Chapter 30 or if you want me to finish this up on chapter 30 and make a sequel to this, okay? Hope you enjoy this chapter, Elise x)

*11pm, Cheryl arrives at the La Paz Mexico airport*

I was so excited as the pilot said we were going to land in fifteen minutes. To me, it was like saying,

"New life, here I come!"

Once we landed, I got my luggage got out my passport and the dogs' to show the people there. They allowed us all to go and so I then booked a hotel for the night. After that, we all went to a cafe where they allowed dogs in a play room next to the actual café room. I let Buster and Coco play for a bit while I ate a muffin and had a cup of coffee.

Now what should I name myself? I started to wonder.

Nothing beginning with C or Sh

Hmm......

Zorin Jones? Zorin Jones-Stevenson?

That's fine. Good enough.

I then started thinking even more.

I will say my birthday is...November 6th 1980, so I'll be 33.

I headed to the hotel and had booked a week's stay at a dog kennels so the dogs had somewhere to go. I dropped them off and went to check in.

I was given a room that wasn't too shabby. I only unpacked one suitcase to get my night clothes and toiletries. I had my phone turned off and plus the wifi nor the reception wasn't the best here. I spend ages just looking up at the ceiling. Inhaled. Exhaled. Inhaled. Exhaled.

I then quickly checked the time and it was midnight. I had slept for most of the flight here so I just changed into my night clothes, did my hygiene, took a long, long bath and started writing in a new notebook. I thought of starting a diary, which was something I had never done before because I couldn't write very well as a child but it would be great to look back at the memories since I was now living my second dream.

Friday June 17th 2014,

Dear Diary,

Well, this is my first night here a Mexico. I'm in a hotel right now and the dogs are at a kennels for a bit. I already slept a lot on the plane here so I am just writing this because there's nothing else to do. My phone is turned off, I'm already getting voicemails and texts from JB, Lily and Kimberley and I had to leave at 2:15am to catch my flight here.

My real name is Cheryl Ann Fernandez Versini (because I'm still married) but I am going to be known in this place as Zorin Jones-Stevenson. My real birthday is on the 30th of this month in 1983. So I am nearly 31 years old. But I am going to state that it is on November 6th 1980. Of course I will still celebrate my actual birthday, just by myself and the dogs. And now I've got to think of a good backstory- or maybe, I just won't tell anyone the truth and keep it all to myself.

Don't get me wrong, even though I know this is my fate, I will miss everyone so much. My friends, the girls, my family, the soldiers- or fans. Everyone. But the paps are taking over my life, even after getting a conjunction against the press a couple years ago. It just won't stop, no matter how much I try. I always wanted to be an entertainer, and I am more than grateful to have achieved that dream, although there were obstacles on the way and some of them nearly took my life. For example, having Malaria.

I still have some things that will remind me of my loved ones but I want to start a whole new life. No one stalking me, no one breaking my heart, no one treating me like s*** and no more singing or performing just so people could bash me in the papers. No more.

I will try to write in here every single day for at least the next year or so. That's if I don't get caught living behind a false name or life before I last a year here.

From,

Zorin (A.k.a Cheryl)

I closed my notebook and put it on the bedside table. I took a quick look at the view of La Paz. There were beautiful, sandy beaches, crystal clear oceans, some nice little houses and huts and nicely built streets. It was a beautiful environment. Not surrounded by massive buildings, cars and pollution. Because trust me, I hate the smell of drugs more than anything. It's only the tobacco I can stand or I would be reminded of everyone who died in Newcastle from heroin.

Hopefully, I will be more happy here.

And maybe, I'll become like one of their own.

I will feel like I belong.

And not have to hide in my house all day because I would get invaded by heartless strangers.

........

*9am*

I opened my eyes to see an unfamiliar place. Or at least I thought it was until I started to recollect everything that had happened over the past two days.

I'm in Mexico.

I had 6 more days in this hotel just to sort everything and to maybe get my place. I had the money and I can even become a waitress again like when I was a teenager.

I got out of bed, got dressed in a plain white tank top and grey shorts, knowing it was pretty hot over here. Which I liked. I then put on my white converse and tied my hair up into a braided bun. For makeup, I applied my foundation, some dark purple lipstick and a smoky eye with mascara. Not many people in England would recognise me without makeup anyway. But I wanted to have a whole new look and style.

I then went to a little diner where they served Mexican food. It was called 'Carlos' Salsa' (made that up).  I ordered a breakfast which was a fajita with salsa. It wasn't too spicy to be honest and I found it really delicious. The waiters and waitresses who worked here were really nice to me. There wasn't actually many people working there. Only 4 or 5 five people? And I thought maybe I would ask for a job application to work there as a waitress.

I also ordered a glass of lemonade which was really nice and refreshing. This place was like paradise. After my meal, I paid for it and gave the waitress a 10 Mexican dollar note tip (or 10 Mexican Peso I think).

I decided to go down to the beaches and sit down on the sand.

I'm gonna be really tanned soon.

I just ventured around the place and talked to a few people. When they had asked why I had come here (because I don't look Mexican) I just said that I've been living here for three years because my paternal/father's family are all Mexicans.

I enjoyed my first proper day here and I knew that I could just spend the rest of my life here.

JB's PoV

I don't know where Cheryl is. I've looked everywhere. She isn't with the girls, or her family in Newcastle. And she isn't at work. I couldn't stop worrying about her.

Did she leave because of something I did?

Oh my god, is this all my fault?

I had a horrible feeling at the pit of my stomach. I decided to call her ex husband, Ashley. Because she still had his number hidden from me and kept it in the the drawers of her bedside table.

I dialled the number on the crumpled piece of paper and waited. I was tapping my foot, as nervous as ever.

I really hope Cheryl is okay.

"Hello? Who is this?" Ashley then answered."Hello, this is Jean, Cheryl's husband.""What do you want?" He asked, sighing."Cheryl is missing." I replied.

Ashley went quiet. "Ashley? Are you still there?""Yeah, sorry man. I'm just shocked right now. Why would Cheryl just suddenly leave?" He sounded shocked alright."I don't know. We had an argument a couple days ago but-""Wait, what? Mate, don't you know how upset Cheryl gets when you argue with her? How did it happen?" He asked."Well, I saw a picture of her and another man kissing in the newspaper and asked her if it was true and if she cheated on me. Then she didn't talk to me for the rest of that day and she wasn't very...talkative or happy.""Wow. Well. How did that cheating scandal get in the papers? Cheryl doesn't cheat on anyone.""Well, she was asked to meet some guy who she met at the apartment complex with the girls." I mumbled."Yep, keep going." He muttered.

I felt kinda awkward. I took a deep breath and continued.

"She said he was your friend. Called Trevor or-""Hang on! You mean Trent? Trent Jackson?" He cut me off."Yeah that's it.""Anyway, carry on." He commanded."She went to his apartment with him and then he started to kiss her and everything. Then, she realised that she was going to get raped by him so she managed to break free from him and ran all the way to the train station and then she stayed the night at her friend, Nicola's." I concluded."That son of a b****! Right, that's it! That b****** is gonna pay!" Ashley exploded in a rage."Don't go bothering him, Ashley. We need to concentrate on finding Cheryl." "Yeah. Okay. But let me warn you: she is very good at hiding from people and lying. It will be hard to find her and could probably take weeks, months, even years." Ashley informed.

He sounded just as worried as me. I thought he would be a mean and stuck up man but he is actually kinda nice. We said goodbye and he hung up.

My heart had now been officially broken into a million pieces. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't accept that Cheryl was probably going to be gone forever. She just left her life here. And we were going to move to France after she finished the upcoming season of 'The X Factor'.

I guess being in England wasn't what I expected.

At all.

Tears were rolling down my face. I didn't cry very often. But this hit me like a ton of bricks.

I've lost my wife.
