՜՞՜35՜՞՜

I usually don't wake up during the night, but for some reason, I was incredibly thirsty. It's weird cause I barely even feel thirst. Drinking water is more like a duty to me and not a need.

I fluttered my eyelids open and unaware of the position I was in, almost rolled to the opposite side of the bed. I would've fallen if George's arm hadn't been wrapped around me, keeping me still and holding me in place.

I reached out and tapped my screen, checking the time – it was four in the morning, which made me wonder if I even slept at all or not. I remember being awake at 3:45.

I gently moved his arm from my shirt and then got out of bed to grab a cup of cold water for myself. I wasn't in the habit of keeping water in my room, so I had to make the trip to the kitchen.

Before I left the room, I heard him stirring. And I had the strongest feeling that I woke him up, and that he was going to follow me. So when I reached the kitchen and heard his footsteps approaching, it wasn't a shock.

He appeared, rubbing his eye and his lips forming a little pout from just waking up. He squinted his eyes at the refrigerator light right before giving me a small smile.

I felt bad that I did my best to not disturb his sleep, and still failed. But it was a challenge when his hand was pretty much under my shirt.

"For me too," he made grabby hands at my water, and since I didn't feel like getting another glass, I emptied mine and poured water onto the ice.

I just drank a whole glass of water and it didn't even quench my thirst, but whatever.

He accepted the glass from my hand, finishing all the water and popping an ice cube into his mouth. Watching him chew on the cube made my sensitive teeth hurt a little.

"Sorry, didn't mean to wake you," I said, glancing at his face, which was now barely visible without the fridge light.

"You put me to sleep," he replied with a smile, and I couldn't help but mirror the expression.

He moved closer to me, causing me to lean back against the counter and grip the edges of it, my chest rising and falling steadily as he hovered over me.

I swallowed nervously as his fingertips brushed the side of my neck, traced along my jawline, and lingered at my bottom lip.

I parted my mouth, so lost in the moment and his words that all that came out was a small breath as his thumb gently tugged down on my bottom lip before releasing it, causing it to bounce back up.

I leaned up, attempting to reach his lips. He assisted by lifting me and gently setting me down on the counter, allowing our lips to meet in a tender kiss.

I positioned my legs apart, allowing him to step in between before wrapping them around his hips again. His hands gripped my hips, fingertips digging into them and drawing me nearer, causing my body to glide effortlessly against the counter. Our lips moved with so much heat, radiating warmth everytime they met.

I closed my eyes, holding my breath to stifle any potential sounds as his lips traced down to my neck. My hand that had been desperately clutching the counter found its way into his hair, my fingers tangling in the strands as his mouth found a sensitive area. He latched on, sucking on the skin and grazing his teeth lightly before soothing it with the gentle touch of his tongue.

"George," I exhaled, sensing the tickle of his stubble against my throat as he proceeded to pepper it with open-mouthed kisses.

His head lifted, and he rested his forehead against mine,"Can I?" I felt a shiver down my spine as his hands slid beneath my shirt, fingers curling around my waist.

"Mhm," I managed to respond, my breath uneven from the effort of trying to stifle my sounds.

"Yeah?" His grip tightened against my waist, lips pressing back to mine briefly before pulling away.

"Yeah," I nodded and secured my legs around his hips, both as consent.

"Let's get you back to bed then."

With my legs still wrapped around him, George guided us to the bedroom, impressively navigating well through the darkness while his lips never detached from mine.

I giggled as his grip on me tightened, and then he swiftly adjusted to find the right angle, playfully tossing me onto the bed.

I was waiting for my back to touch the mattress, but the sensation was delayed. It felt more like a sudden drop, and an infinite one too. My eyes shut instinctively, a sense of unease stirring in my stomach, and my heart raced as George slowly vanished from my sight.

The loudest ringing filled my ears just before my back landed on the mattress, causing my eyes to snap open.

I let out a sharp exhale, blinking rapidly to orient myself, cold sweat washing over me.

And there I was.

In bed, with George, just as we had fallen asleep. My face nestled into his neck, his hand resting on my back. He was still asleep. He never woke up. Same as me.

The position had shifted slightly though. Now, my leg was gently draped over his hip.

I let out a soft sigh, carefully attempting to draw my leg back without disturbing his sleep. I managed to pull it back just a little bit.

However, in a swift motion, his hand left my back and firmly grasped my thigh, stilling my movement instantly.

I tilted my head back to look at his face questionably, and to my surprise, his eyes remained shut.

Then in an instant, his hand shifted to touch the back of my head, guiding it gently back beneath his chin and against his neck.

I accepted my destiny of going back to sleep with no information about whether he was still asleep doing all of that or not. All I know is after all that work, his hand went right back under my shirt, settling once again on my spine.
