Chapter 28

After the public beach brawl, we all have an ice cream to cool down. "I swear they must live at the beach!" I say."They look like they do as well, all dirty and mucky and horrible!" Says Harvey.

After we've had an ice cream at the beach, we head back to the car and see a note pinned to it.'Try anything like that again twins and I'll get you!'Hannah looks scared but the rest of us laugh. Harvey sees them all looking from the beach, smirking thinking we'll be scared. He holds the paper high and rips it up and we all laugh and get into the car, watching their scowls.

Zoe drives us to a cute little cafe and we sit and have a hot chocolate. Zoe then gets a text and looks at her phone and tells us we can go home now."Remember, act surprised!" Says Harvey in my ear.I nod.

When we arrive back home, Max covers my eyes and leads me through the house into the back garden and lets go. I gasp. I'm not even faking it this time. There, a stage is set up and a huge buffet table is set out, a huge banner saying happy birthday jess is up in the fence, loads of pretty fairy lights and party ornaments are hung up and loads of my class are there cheering me and slap bang in the middle is Joe. I really start crying then.

"Oh now she's crying!" Says Harvey and Hannah wraps her arm round my shoulder."I..I.." I hop up to Joe and give him a huge hug."Max organised it all for you!" Says Joe.I look up at Max with glistening eyes."Thank you." I whisper and bury my head on his shoulder.

The party was the best I could ever imagine. A huge birthday cake was brought out and Max and Harvey performed for me. It was so beautiful!

I got to know my classmates a bit better as well and I'm friendly with a lot of them. After everyone left, I sat cuddled up with Max. "Thank you for all this. It was the best!"

"I did it because you deserve it. I've done the stupidest things, made mistakes so many times, but you've always happily took me back and I'm so lucky for you to have done that. I don't deserve you, but I have you. I love you so much!" He leans in and kisses me. Butterflies erupt in my stomach.

Oh what did I do to deserve him??
