Chapter 25
23:43, 31 March 2018Almost 5 weeks later, Zoe travels up to visit us. It's my 14th birthday in 2 days and she's staying so she can be there for my birthday. It's a bit of a shame that I have my leg in a cast but oh well, things like that happen I suppose. My mum has planned a huge party and it's supposed to be a surprise. She still thinks it is.
Don't tell Harvey anything! We were sat in school and he all of a sudden said "I can't wait for your party Jess!" I was extremely confused as I didn't have a clue what he was on about. I was just about to say what party when Max nudged him and told him to shut up. I saw the look of horror and realisation on Harvey's face and then I sort of guessed what he meant. They were planning a surprise for me. Apparently most of my class are going, as well as my family.
Unfortunately, Max got an email yesterday saying that Joe could not come due to meetings and plans for his new book. I have to admit, I was pretty gutted. Joe always knows how to liven a party up, and I'm scared it'll be terrible because I don't even know half my class that well and I'm stuck in plaster so I can't dance or anything. At least if Joe was there he could think of ideas to keep everyone occupied.
The last 5 weeks haven't been the easiest. Everyone crowded round me that first Monday back and kept asking questions. I said nothing of course, I didn't want everyone to know about Mackensie. It's annoying aswell having to leave lessons 5 minutes early all the time and not being able to walk.
Ever since the camping trip, Hannah has been really good friends with us. It's funny how much drama can break a bond with someone but also make a bond with someone in the process. Not that any bonds were broken though, I didn't have a bond with Mackensie anyway. Libby also texts us all quite often as we exchanged numbers on the first day. She's also apparently invited to the party, along with Luke. Charlie wasn't invited though, I don't think it would go down well with him and Max.
Anyway, Harvey and Hannah have started to spend a lot more time with each other, and I'm not the only one to notice. Both Max and Megan agree that something is going on.
I don't suppose I've really talked about Megan for a while. I don't know whether you'll remember her. She was my best friend long before I met Max and Harvey. I suppose she's partly to thank for my relationship seeing as she pushed me into him during assembly once. Well we fell out for a little while after that first time I sort of broke up with Max. She was horrified when I told her what happened and she shouted at me. So I wasn't her friend for a while. But recently she somehow found out how my leg had broken and arrived with a box of chocolates and a balloon with her deepest apologies. I had to forgive her. I seem to be good at that recently, forgiving people.
I've told Zoe everything. I didn't quite know where to start. I mean I hadn't seen her in almost 2 months and a lot can happen in 2 months. But then once I'd started talking, I couldn't seem to stop. Zoe didn't mind much though, she's used to people telling her everything.
That's one thing I love about Zoe. She's that type of person you find telling everything, even your darkest secrets, and she's never judging.
Not that I have dark secrets of course.
Anyway, it's coming up to my party and I'm scared... really scared. I feel like everyone's going to loose a large amount of respect for me if the party doesn't require their standards. I once went to a girls party from my class with Megan and there was a band playing and a huge buffet and we had the best time.
My party on the other hand, I'm not so sure.
