Chapter 21

My alarm clock woke me up extremely early. 5am!! But it didn't matter. I was excited. Today was the first day of camp. A whole week of camping with my best friends. What could be better?

I pick up my clothes that were hung on a rack the previous night so I knew what I was wearing, and put them on. I then head downstairs for some breakfast.

Joe is the only other person awake as he is supposed to be also getting a lift off Max and Harvey's mum to the train station. "Hey, waffle?" He asks holding up a box of frozen waffles."Yeah, sure!" I say, and he puts two in the toaster. I sit down next to him and look at my phone. There's another text message.Harvey: we will pick you both up at 6, then we can drop Joe off before we head to school xxI decide to get ready because there isn't that much time.

I put on a hoodie and some ripped jeans, with my white and gold adidas trainers. I then quickly straighten my hair. I check off all the things in my suitcase and, when I'm just about ready, I drag it downstairs and wait at the door for Sara's car. It's 5:55 by the time I'm ready, so I have just a few minutes before they arrive.I decide to text Harvey.Jess:We're both ready xx

Harvey:We'll be there in one minute xx

I hear a knock on the door. Max is there."Heyy!" He says, and wraps his arms round me as if he hasn't seen me for ages.

Joe mimicks a disgusted face, then he helps Sara carry our suitcases to her car boot. "Are you excited?" He asks me."Yes! We should find Harvey a girlfriend!" I say.Sara starts laughing."Good luck with that task, he's absolutely mental!"

"Well I've managed to find someone mum!" Max declares."Well she's just as balmy as you for putting up with you both!" Sara says, tears of laughter in her eyes.

We enter the car. Joe is sat at the front with Sara and I'm sat at the back with Max and Harvey. I suddenly start to feel nervous. What if Hannah isn't going and I'm left on my own with those girls that I don't even know? I'll be trapped until Sunday night! What if I'm not in a group with max and Harvey and I don't get to see them at all?"Are you ok?" Asks Harvey.

Everything is more than ok! As we arrive at school, I notice Hannah stood near the bus. Our teacher tells us the groups we are in. I'm in max and Harvey's group. Even if I wasn't, we still have loads of free time to see each other. We clamber onto the bus and wave goodbye to Sara. The journey is 2 and a half hours long. We stop halfway at a motor station. I sit next to Max for the first half. Harvey is sat next to Hannah. Max and I keep tormenting them by saying they'd look good together.

I check my phone.Mum:Have a good time darling. Ring me if you need anything. Love you xxxxx

Jess:Thank you mum, I will. Love you too xxxxx

I suddenly feel really tired. I must've fallen asleep at some point because Max wakes me up when we arrive halfway. I go into the toilets with Hannah and freshen up a bit. Hannah looks at me, slightly embarrassed."Please don't tell him but, I think I like Harvey!"I stand there smiling."Aww how cute. I promise I won't!"

We then head to the cafe to meet the boys. We sit down on a table with a couple other people from our school, and order some food. I order some nachos to share with Hannah.

After the cafe, we head back to the bus. I sit with Hannah for the second half. We take loads of selfies on Snapchat and listen to music. When we finally arrive at the camp, we spot the other school.

A friendly women beckons us out of the bus. We grab our suitcases and head towards her. "Right, we're going to set our tents up! Let's organise you into tent groups!"

We wave goodbye to Max and Harvey as our tent group is called. Two other girls are standing there."I'm Mackensie, and this is Libby!" Says one of the girls, shaking my hand. She has long blonde hair, and wears quite a bit of makeup. She is dressed in a crop top and ripped jeans. "Oh look, we both have ripped jeans on. Twins!"She looks over to where Max and Harvey are stood."You were with those boys right?" She asks.Hannah and I nod."Is the one with the hat on your boyfriend?" She asks me.I nod."Oh how cute. And is the other one your boyfriend?" She asks Hannah."We are just friends!" Says Hannah.

"Ooh good, I'm glad he's single cos he's well fit!" She says.I see Hannah's face drop. Poor Hannah. I might talk to Max and get him to help me set them up together so Mackensie can't say anything about him.

The other girl, called Libby, has long brown hair. She smiles at me. "You look in thought!" She says.

"Oh you know, just planning something!"
