Chapter 29: ONE MIC

I went back to my room and locked myself there. I am crying right now. I’m sorry Mark. It’s just that things should not go this way. I’m sorry I can’t do anything.

“Unnie!” Jimin keeps on knocking on my door. “Don’t you want to eat with us?”

I wiped my tears and pretended that I’m not crying.

“I’m full Jimin. Thanks for asking.” I said while I’m still staying at my room.

I’m torn between two things, my dream and Mark.

I’ve waited for this long for my dream and suddenly you came, Mark. I don’t know what to choose right now. I don’t know what to do.

I took my phone and just look for some tweets or posts.

When I opened my IG account, Mark’s post was the first one I saw. It was a picture of Peter Pan crying with a caption “You mean more to me than anything in this world.”

Peter Pan told that in the movie. He knew it and it breaks my heart even more. Please don’t say that Mark. I’m trying my best to ignore you right now. I really have a very sensitive heart and a sensitive personality.

A lot of fans commented, “Don’t worry oppa, we’ll always be your Tinkerbell.”

I wished I didn’t open my IG account.

I turned my phone off so no one will be able to contact me for a while.

“Unnie!” Jimin shouted again. “JYP-ssi is looking for you.”

JYP? Haaay. -_-

I immediately wiped my eyes, opened the door and went out of my room.

I greeted JYP.

“Newbies will be joining us tomorrow on the ONE MIC. On the last part, you’ll be there too. You just need to show your faces there.” he said.

“Oh, okay.” I said.

“I just dropped by to say that. Oh did you just cry Rhianne?” JYP said.

I shook my head and pretended, “I suddenly felt dizzy maybe due to migraine but I’m resting now.”

“Oh is that so? Take a rest now so you’ll be okay tomorrow.” JYP said.

JYP was about to go out when JB was in front of the door.

“Oh, JB. What are you doing here?” JYP asked.

“Oh, I was just about to ask Rhianne something.”

JYP looked at me. “Rhianne, JB is going to ask you something. I’m going.”

I wonder what JB will ask me. I pretended that my head is aching as I approached the door. “Is there something you wanted to ask?”

“What happened?” he asked.

“About what?” I said.

“About you and Mark.” he said.

“I told you, nothing happened.” I said.

“Then why are you ignoring him?” he said.

I looked down and said nothing and here comes the awkward silence.

“So you’re really ignoring him. Did he do something?” he said..

Don’t ask me more JB. Please?

I took a deep breathe.

“JB, I know you’re concerned with your group but it has nothing to do with Mark. If he thinks that I’m ignoring him please let him know that I’m sorry. I didn’t mean him to feel that way. But, there are things in this world that are better off unknown.” I said.

I went inside our dorm leaving JB there.

ONE MIC

Everyone was so busy. The staffs are preparing the music, the lights, everything. You can see that everyone is feeling nervous with this.

6mix and I were together inside the dressing room. Actually we don’t have a special number we’re just going to join the JYP team on the last part of the concert.

“Rhianne, someone is looking for you.” a staff said.

I went out of the room.

“Ui Bong?!” I exclaimed.

I can’t contain my feels. So I immediately hugged him.

“How are you?” I hit his shoulders. “Why did you leave without saying anything?”

He put his hands on his nape. “I’m sorry. Something happened at home. I really need to go back there.”

“Is everything fine now?” I asked.

“Uhm, everything is a little better now. I still can’t attend the training but I’m happy you’re going to debut.” he said.

I gave him a sad look.

“UI BONG???” Jimin said.

Jimin hugged Ui Bong so tight.

“Yah, Jimin. I can’t breathe.”

“Oh, sorry.” Jimin said. “Are you going to be a trainee again? I missed you so much. There’s no one who’s noisy during acting class.”

“You’re still there so it’s still noisy.” Ui Bong said. “Soon, I’ll return. I promise.”

Jimin smiled. Suddenly I saw Mark looking at us. He immediately removed his eyes from us the moment I saw him.

“Papa Tuan!” Jackson said.

I looked at my back and saw Mark’s father.

Everyone greeted him and Mark went near him. He is together with Mark’s mom, Mark’s siblings with the Koh Family.

“Rhianne!” Jessica said.

I smiled at her and hugged her. She whispered to me, “Where’s Jr?”

I smiled at her. “I’ll look for him.”

Then Jessica smiled.

“I’m just going to look for Jr.” I told Ui Bong.

“Is Jinyoung here?” I went to their dressing room and saw him there.

“Oh, Rhianne. Why?” he asked.

“I’m going to introduce you to Mark’s friend” I said.

I pulled him until we reach Jessica’s place.

“Jessica.” I said. She smiled at me.

“This is Jr and Jr this is Jessica.”

Jr smiled at Jessica and Jessica smiled too. Oh my gosh, I’m going to ship this couple. Hihihi <3 <3

“Jessica, let’s now go to our seats.” Papa Tuan said.

“Oh, yeah.” Jessica said. “See you later Rhianne.”

I waved at her and looked at Jinyoung.

“What do you think Jinyoung?” I said teasingly.

He just smirked and left me.

What’s wrong with him? Jessica Koh is the perfect one for him. They look good together.

When I turned my back, I saw Mark in front of me.

Dugdug. Dugdug.

My heart, it beats faster than usual.

Dugdug. Dugdug.

I realized was staring at something. Suddenly I remembered, I wore the necklace Mark gave me. He held it and just smiled.

I smile so he won’t get mad at me.

Suddenly, I saw JYP staring at us. I immediately remove my eyes from him and went back to the room.

What should I do? -_- JYP saw us. I’m dead. I’m freaking dead.

“Rhianne.”

Uh, it’s JYP. I went to see him and as fast as the wind I tried to explain what he saw.

“About earlier, I didn’t mean to…” I said.

“Mark talked to me.” JYP said.

“What?” I exclaimed.

I was so shocked that my voice raised its volume.

“Oh sorry. I mean, why did he talk to you?”

*flashback*

*knock* *knock*

“Oh Mark. Is there something you want to say?” JYP said.

“It’s about Rhianne.” Mark said.

They sat down.

“What about Rhianne?” JYP asked.

“She’s been ignoring me these past few days. I just want to ask if she told you something.” Mark said.

JYP is hesitating to say it to Mark but he decided to say it.

“I asked her to distance herself from you.” JYP said.

“What?” Mark said. “Uh, I’m sorry JYP-ssi.”

“No it’s fine. Answer me Mark, do you like her?” JYP said.

Mark paused for a bit.

“Yes. I like her.” Mark said.

JYP nodded.

“I see. But now is not the time Mark. I am not against the both of you. Let Rhianne debut first. Let her make a name first.” JYP said. “Rhianne has been through a lot of pains and all she wanted was to be on top. Let her experience this thing first.”

“But we’re not doing anything wrong.” Mark said.

“Yes, I understand that you’re not doing anything wrong. But how will the fans react if they know that you’re dating Rhianne to see the fact that Rhianne hasn’t even debuted yet.”

“I understand. But I hope, we’ll just be the usual us. We’ll not date but I hope you will let her talk to me at least.” Mark said.

*end of flashback*

I was shocked with what Mark told to JYP. He has that courage? -_-

“I am just asking you to distance yourself. It doesn’t mean to stop communicating with him.” JYP said.

I hugged JYP. “I’m sorry. It shouldn’t be this way.”

“Yah, don’t cry. Your make up will ruin my suit.” he said trying to make me laugh.

“Work hard, Rhianne. I’ll know you’ll rise on top.” he said.

“Thank you.”

It somehow removed all the burdens I’m feeling right now. But still, I have to avoid Mark a little.

The concert started in a few minutes. I can hear the loud screams there.

“Soon, they’re going to chant for us too.” C said to me.

6mix is composed of 6 beautiful ladies. Plus, they are all kind.

We had some conversations about training stuffs and more.

“6mix, Rhianne, it’s time to be on stage.” the staff said.

We prepared ourselves and went on stage.

There were a lot of people here. I smiled.

It’s my dream to perform on a stage like this. Although, I haven’t debuted I know I’ll be going there.

I can hear fans chanting.

Jimin and Yerin came to me. After the ending song, everyone bowed down.

I’m so happy.

That night…

Everyone seemed to be so tired of the performance. They’ll still have another concert tomorrow. So after the concert today, everyone went to their dorms.

Jimin and Yerin seemed to be so tired too.

I’m not tired. I didn’t do anything.

I’m not yet even feeling sleepy so I decided to go to the music room.

I saw the piano and I felt like the piano is asking me to play a piece. I went there, sat down and played a note.

What is this I’m feeling I just can’t explain

When you’re near I’m just not the same

I’m trying to hide it

Trying not to show it

It’s crazy

How could it be

 

Mark suddenly entered my mind. I smiled.

I’ve fallen for you

Finally my heart gave in

And I’ve fallen in love

I finally know how it feels

So this is love

 

I held my necklace and decided to go to Mark. I stood up and immediately opened the door when…

Mark was just outside staring at me.

“Oh, hi” I said awkwardly.

“Leaving so soon?” he said.

“Uhh,” I nodded. “Yes.”

I walked immediately.

Aish! Rhianne! Why are you like that? You’re going to talk to Mark right? Well, Mark is now here, why not talk to him?

I stopped walking. I was planning to go back to him.

Aish. No. I can’t.

Dugdug. Dugdug.

My heart, it’s beating fast again.

Dugdug. Dugdug.

Okay fine, I’m going back to him.

Suddenly I felt someone hugging me.

“Don’t you ever dare to do that again, it hurts me.” Mark said.

Dugdug. Dugdug.

Mark, can you hear my heart? Can you hear that it’s beating for you?

I’m sorry Mark, I never really intended to hurt you. I don’t want to hurt you. I made a mistake. I’m sorry. Now, I promise I won’t hurt you anymore. I won’t.

“Say promise.” Mark said.

He’s still hugging me and here’s the awkward silence again.

“I promise.” I said.
