Mariah's pov
Karina practically forced me to get out of the house tonight. And honestly, I'm glad she did. I told Kamala I was going out and told her that I would text her when I left and when I made it home. Well, that's if I didn't end up contacting her while I was out.
So right now, Karina and I are getting ready in my room. Beyoncé's Me Myself and I playing on my phone. Karina's in my closet looking for something to wear.
"Riah, girl you don't have shit to wear in here." She said still looking through my clothes.
I rolled my eyes. "Well maybe you should've brought some clothes. I know what I'm wearing." I said, focusing on carefully placing my lashes.
"Oh, never mind I found something." She said, looking for shoes to wear.
A couple minutes later I finished my make up, hair, and got dressed. And of course... we were waiting on Karina.
I text Kamala letting her know that we were gonna head out.
"Karina! Hurry up, hell." I said, going to sit down on my couch.
"I'm ready." She said and we walked out of the house.
The club was only a fifteen minute drive from my place. We made it there in one piece, Karina can't drive for shit. "Karina, who the hell taught you how to drive?" I asked, and she just side-eyed me. I was dead serious though.
Before we stepped into the building we decided to take some pictures. I had on a semi-long black lace dress paired with black heels, a black purse, and a golden necklace. My hair obviously curled to perfection.
Karina's wearing a black cropped Diesel t-shirt paired with high waisted, light was denim shorts covered in patches. She's also wearing a crossbody purse with black, red, and white Jordan 4's.
When we finished taking the pics I remembered Kamala saying she wanted a picture.

The bass thumped like a second heartbeat, low and dirty, curling through the air like smoke. Neon purples and soft blues pulsed from the ceiling, painting everything in that dreamy blur that only exists in dim corners of a club after midnight. I was already two drinks in, skin warm, pulse steady, wrapped in the kind of confidence that came only from leaving the rest of the world behind for a night.
Karina looks good tonight . Her braids were swapped up in a bun that gave full attention to her sharp cheekbones., her glossy brown skin catching the strobe lights every time she moved. She kept dancing with her arms high and her smile or wide., mouthing lyrics and pulling me with her whenever I slow down.
I was laughing about something she said — something stupid, probably— when I felt a shift. Not a tap or a voice. Just the presence.
My eyes scanned the crowd almost instinctively in there she was.
Michelle.
Leaning against the edge of the bar like she owned the damn place , dressed in that same chill swagger she carried in class. Line up shirt Road at the sleeves.. gold chain linting softly under the club lights. Long curly hair pulled into a half a bun that fell too perfectly undone to be accidental.. and when she turned her head— slow, like she already knew I was looking— she smiled.
It wasn't cocky, but it was confident. Like, yeah I saw you. Like, yeah I want you to see me too.
I blinked and looked away , cheeks hot even with the AC blasting from the ceiling. Karina noticed it all in an instant.
I tried not to grin, but it was too late.
"Shut up."
"No, you shut up. You blushing."
I rolled my eyes and turned toward the bar , giving Karina, the universal sign of Don't make this a thing. But of course she did.
She dragged me to the bar under the pretense of needing water, which was a lie, and Michelle happened to be right there ordering something neat.
"Look who it is," Michelle said, voice, a little raspy than usual over the music. "Didn't expect to see my favorite classmate out tonight."
I smiled, tightlipped. "Didn't know I was your favorite."
"Now you do."
Karina dipped out—traitor—mumbling something about going to request a song. I was alone with Michelle now. I could feel her looking at me without actually looking.
"You look good," she said, leaning against the bar. Her cologne—or perfume, rather—was soft and sweet. Like vanilla, but more expensive. Something floral hiding underneath the sugar. It threw me off for a second.
"You smell... different," I said. It came out before I could stop it.
Michelle laughed, low and unbothered. "I get that a lot."
We stood in that pause, the music sliding over the silence like silk. I didn't know what to say. I didn't feel awkward, exactly. Just caught in something I hadn't expected.
"Wanna dance?" She asked suddenly.
I blinked. "I don't really—"
"Just as friends," she added quickly, raising her hands like she knew how tightly I'd wound myself around boundaries. "Nothing weird. Promise."
I paused.
And nodded.
She didn't take my hand, which I respected. She just waited for me to follow, and I did. The dance floor was hot, crowded, a little too fast paced, but Michelle didn't move on me. She danced with me. Matching my pace, making space for me, catching my eye only when the lights flashed.
It felt easy. Playful. Harmless.
But from somewhere in the back of my mind, a different gaze burned hotter. One I knew well. On that wasn't here.
Kamala. I could already imagine the way her jaw would tighten. Not from insecurity—no. From possessiveness. From knowing what was hers.
Michelle didn't want me. Not like that. But Kamala wouldn't care. She wouldn't like it.
And I'd be lying if I said that didn't send a tiny thrill through me.

As the night went on I grew more tired. My shoes were hurting my feet and I was a little tipsy. But most of all I was ready to go home to my woman.
After Michelle and I danced we sat at a table and just talked. Karina—ever the instigator—kept looking at us with googly eyes. I rolled my eyes every single time.
I am Kamala's and Kamala's only.
I told Michelle that I was gonna head home 'cause I was tired and that I had fun.
I grabbed Karina and told her it was time to go. We got in the car and I dropped her off at her place and I went to see my baby.
I texted Kamala to let her know that I was on the way. She texted back with a simple "okay."
I made it to her house in twenty minutes. My shoes and purse in hand as I knocked on the door. She came to the door fast.
"Hi gorgeous," she said then pecked me on the lips. "How was your night?" She pulled me in the house and closed and locked the door.
"It was good, mami, I missed you so much." I said, slurring my words a little bit. "I missed you too, sweetheart." She said and kissed Me on my forehead.
"Come on, let's get you ready for bed." She said, taking my hand and leading me upstairs. She ran my bath water, making sure it was hot. Just how I liked it.
"Okay baby, let's get your clothes off." She said and started to put my hair up in a messy bun. She took my dress off and kissed my shoulders. "You're so pretty." She said and kissed my neck. Then she took my bra and underwear off and helped me get into the bath.
When I got in I immediately let out a sigh. I needed this.
"I missed you," I said, my eyes closed. "Come here." I said and she did. I pulled her in for a kiss. Kamala pulled back with a small grin on her lips. She grabbed a wash cloth, put some soap on it until it lather up. And started washing my body.
A couple minutes later, I got out of the bath and she gave me a dry towel and an oversized shirt with a fresh pair of underwear. I quickly moisturized my body and put the clothes on.
When I stepped out of the bathroom, Kamala had on a silk night gown. It showed every inch of her curves. I climbed into bed and she was walking to her side. Her butt moves when she walks.
God, almighty.
"What?" She said with a smile on her face. "You just look good, that's all." I said.
"Thank you."
I nodded. We sat in silence for a couple of second before I said something again.
"Kamala," I said making immediate eye contact. "Yes, sweetheart?" She said in an innocent sweet tone. "I've been thinking about you all day. The things I wanted you to do to me. How beautiful you are." I said and she hummed.
"Tell me what you want, I can see it in your brain." She said with a smirk.
I let out a sigh. "Make love to me, baby.."
