--------
Evening sets in... golden dusk seeps through the tall windows of Pond Naravit’s grand mansion.Everyone’s gathered in the main living hall — a space dipped in class and silence.
Mr. Sorachai, calm but stern, looks at his eldest son.
> “Pond, we’ve made a decision.”Pond, who was calmly sipping his drink, lifts his eyes.“What decision, Dad?”Mr. Sorachai’s voice is firm but final —“My friend’s son… the one you’re going to marry.”
The moment those words drop, the slight smile on Pond’s face fades like smoke. He straightens.
> “But Dad… I don’t want to get married. Not now.”
Mr. Sorachai doesn’t budge.
> “The marriage will happen, Pond. The promise was made when you both were kids. I gave my word to my friend — and it’s time to fulfill that.”
He looks Pond straight in the eye.
> “That boy is perfect. Beautiful. Intelligent. Grounded. I don’t believe anyone else could be more suitable for you.”
Pond sits quietly, face unreadable.
Mr. Sorachai turns toward his younger brother.
> “Right, Virat?”Mr. Virat nods.“Yes, Both of them are grown up now. It's the right time.”
A moment of tension.Pond finally asks,
> “How old is this boy?”Mr. Sorachai answers plainly —“Twenty.”
Pond leans back, stunned.
> “Dad, he’s seven years younger than me. He’s a kid in front of me. How can you expect me to marry someone that young?”
Mr. Sorachai sighs, but his voice stays calm.
> “I know he’s much younger… but Pond, we can’t back out now. I made a promise — and our family doesn’t break promises.”
Just then, Mrs. Rasee joins in, her tone motherly but sharp.
> “Pond, even you’re not getting any younger. If not now, then when?”
Pond says nothing.
Suddenly, a cheerful voice cuts through the room —Fourth, the youngest, pops up.
> “Dad, when is phii Pond's wedding? I’m sooo excited!”He giggles.“And what do I even call phii Pond husband?”
Everyone laughs softly.Mrs. Amara smiles at Fourth —
> “Sweetheart, you can call him whatever you want.”
Mr. Sorachai stands up.
> “We’re visiting their house tomorrow. Be ready, Pond.”
Pond’s eyes instinctively look toward Amara. She gives a gentle nod, silently telling him to obey.He just hums in response and walks away… to his room.
---
Pond enters his room and shuts the door behind him.
Moments later, Amara follows.
> “Mom… please talk to Dad. I can’t do this. I can’t marry someone I don’t even know.”
Amara walks closer, placing a hand on Pond’s arm.
> “Pond, don’t be stubborn. He’s a good boy. Sweet. Loving. And you know… we don’t break promises in this family.”
Pond's voice trembles.
> “But Mom… how can I marry someone else? I have a girlfriend. I love her. Why can’t anyone understand that?”
Amara looks down for a second, then speaks with a tired calm.
> “This girlfriend-boyfriend thing means nothing, Pond. It’s just… temporary. And don’t let your father hear about it. Trust me, it’s better that way.”
She leans in, softly but seriously —
> “Listen. We’re going tomorrow. Be in a good mood. No more arguments.”
With that, Amara leaves.
Pond sits on the bed, shoulders tense. Just then —His phone rings.
He answers, voice low.
> “Hello?”
A sweet, soft voice on the other side —
> “Hello baby… what are you doing?”
> “Nothing. Just sitting.”
Namtan pauses, then…
> “Pond… I need to tell you something.”
> “Yeah… what’s wrong?”
> “My dad… he fixed my marriage.”
There’s silence. On the other side, Namtan’s heart skips —But she forces drama into her tone.
> “What?! Pond, how could you do this to me? What about me?”
Pond quickly replies,
> “Please Namtan, don’t misunderstand. I didn’t do anything. This was decided long ago, when I was a child. Dad’s taking me to meet the guy tomorrow. I have no choice.”
Namtan, with her soft, manipulative voice, says —
> “Pond… don’t leave me. I’ll die without you. Please. I love you so much.”
> “I love you too,” Pond replies.“I’ll refuse tomorrow. I’ll say no to Dad. I don’t like that guy — even if he gets mad, I don’t care.”
Namtan’s tone suddenly changes — sweet but cunning.
> “No, Pond. You should go… at least once. It would upset your dad if you say no without even meeting him.”
Pond sounds frustrated.
> “And what about us, Namtan?”
She replies, calm as ice.
> “Nothing will change. Go see him. And even if you agree… I’ll always be yours. No one can take you away from me.”
> “But Namtan… I don’t want this.”
> “I’m telling you, Pond. Please.”
Pond sighs.
> “Hmm.”
> “Okay baby. Now rest for a while, alright?”
Pond ends the call, places the phone on the bed… and walks downstairs.
---
The family is still gathered in the lounge.Pond quietly takes a seat.
Amara looks at him — searching for any change in expression.
Mr. Sorachai breaks the silence —
> “You’re coming tomorrow, right?”
> “Yes,” Pond replies softly.
Just then, Fourth pops up again.
> “phii Gemini come with me please! I need help with my university work. I don’t understand anything!”
Gemini smiles and stands.
> “Sure, let’s go.”
Mrs. Rasee interrupts —
> “Fourth, how will you learn if you never try by yourself?”
But Gemini cuts in quickly —
> “It’s okay, Mom. I’ll help him.”
> “Let’s go, Fourth.”
They both head toward Fourth’s room.
Gemini sits down while Fourth brings his notebook. They start working together.
---
Night falls.Dinner is served. And slowly… one by one… the lights go out.But inside Pond’s heart, a storm quietly brews.
Tomorrow… he meets the boy he’s supposed to marry.
And destiny is just getting started.
