Chapter 56

00:19, 11 October 2016

Hello everyone! Just saying, with the last four episodes of Avatar upon us in the story, I AM SKIPPING some parts, I'm sorry but I'm sure most of you want to see the finale and I do to! I've been planning the end since the start of the book.

I stood next to Sokka as he pulled his wolf hat on.

We were currently trying to play out what taking down the Fire Lord would be like. Suki was next to me, a look of determination on her face.

"Mwah-ha-ha-ha!" I hear in the distance and my eyes fall onto a blind girl who was having TOO much fun with this. Moving his hand, we engaged in our plan.

Katara and Zuko started off, with Suki, Sokka and I taking another path.

The three of us run along the terrain when suddenly a large boulder on fire is aimed at us. Suki quickly jumps over it, but Sokka stands in shock.

So, I jump in front of it and rip my hands to the sides, causing the rock to implode. "Watch it, Toph!" Sokka yells as we continue our plan.

"I am not Toph. I am Melon Lord! Mwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!" Toph cackles as she lights another rock on fire and sends it flying.

Brushing a piece of hair from my face, we continue on until we're in position.

"Now Aang!" I scream, causing Aang to fly out on his glider. All seems good, he shifts so the glider is ready to slam into the Melon Lord.

Yet I see it. His face turns from rage into a pained expression and he stops his attack.

"What are you waiting for? Take him out!" Zuko yells, but Aang just backs up.

He doesn't want to kill the Fire Lord. My eyes look at him as he backs away. "I can't" he says shaking his head.

"What's wrong with you? If this was the real deal, you'd be shot full of lightning right now." Sokka grumbles, walking up to Aang.

"Sokka" I warn, but he ignores me.

"I'm sorry, but it just didn't feel right. I didn't feel like myself." Aang says, making me step up to him. I might like to attack, but I could never see myself killing someone, the pain of my parents death was strong, and I never want to inflict that upon someone.

Walking up, Sokka tabs the watermelon with a knife "There, that's how it's done" he growls before walking off.

I place a comforting hand onto Aang's shoulder, but his head is hung low. "I'm sorry Aang" I whisper as we both trail behind the others.

"I just can't take his life" Aang sighs, his eyes pained "It's not how the monks taught me, the others don't understand."

I pat his shoulder, my mind drawing a blank on how to help him.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning, I wake up with Sokka.

"You know, you didn't need to be so rude yesterday" I sigh, rolling over so I could look at him.

"It had to be done Mika, we need to win this war" Sokka grumbles before getting up. Cool air surrounds me has he gets up, causing me to frown.

"Sokka, you forget that he was raised not to kill" I note, causing him to roll his eyes. "Listen Mika, I know that's how he's raised, but it's either his morals or the lives of millions and I think I know which one you would pick" Sokka says before walking out of the room and shutting the door loudly.

I let out another sigh as I too got up.

---

Once I got ready, I walked outside, to see Appa, who was loaded up with most of our things.

"Okay, that's everything." Sokka says as he jumps down from Appa. "No" I say, making the others look at me "Where's Aang?".

The others then quickly rush into the house. "Aang? Aang!" Zuko screams. "Come on lay bones!" Toph calls out. "Aang! Where are you!?" I ask loudly.

Suddenly, my eyes land on Suki and Katara, who hold Aang's glider.

"He left his staff. That's so strange." Sokka says as he grabs the glider.

"Aang's not in the house. Let's check the beach." Zuko sighs as we walk to the beach.

--------------------------------------------------------

We follow footprints on the beach, with Sokka in front. "Look, there's his footprints. The trail ends here." he says once we stop at the waters edge.

"So, he went for a midnight swim and never came back?" Suki suggests.

"Was he captured?" Katara asks.

"I don't think so. There's no sign of a struggle." Sokka says as he looks more closely at the footprints.

"He probably ran away again" Toph says, making Sokka stand up.

"Uh-uh. He left behind his glider and Appa." Sokka says. "Then let's look on the island" I suggest.

----------------------------------------------

After searching the island, we come up with nothing.

"Hey, wait a minute. Has anyone noticed that Momo is missing, too?" Toph says, making Sokka glare at Appa.

Running to the beast, he yanks open his mouth "Oh no! I knew it was only a matter of time! Appa ate Momo!". Leaning into Appa's mouth, he screams "I'm coming for you buddy!"

"Sokka, Appa didn't eat Momo. He's probably with Aang." Katara sighs. "That's what he wants you to think!" Sokka screams.

"Get out of the bison's mouth, Sokka. We have a real problem here. Aang is nowhere to be found and the comet is only two days away." Zuko grumbles.

Smiling, I laugh quietly as Sokka gets out of the mouth of Appa. "What should we do Zuko?" Katara asks.

"I don't know. Why are you all looking at me?" Zuko sneers as we all stare at him.

"Well, you are kind of the expert on tracking Aang." Katara points out, making Zuko frown.

"Yeah, if anyone's got experience hunting the Avatar ... it's you." Toph says.

OKAY! HELLO! I KNOW this chapter was merely filler but yeah. Before we get to the action, I'm FOR SURE writing little snippets of Mika's life after the war, but here's a question, should I make a small book for the snippets by themselves OR should I just add them on to THIS book once I'm done?
