Chapter 50

18:26, 2 October 2016

It can't be.

She can't be here. Yet she is.

"What are you doing here?" I sneered as my fingers dug into the wooden chair I was strapped to.

"Well, I was coming to check out the prison but I got a report of an earthbending girl with a scar and I had to see who it was." the princess spoke, a smirk on her lips.

"Anyways, you were undercover and you got caught saving a peasant!" Azula exclaimed before grabbing my chin with her fingers.

These were the hands that wanted to hurt Sokka. These were the hands that almost killed Aang. These were the hands that forever marked me.

"And that little peasant was my favorite prisoner" Azula whispered as her grip tightened on my chin "But eventually I broke her hope, so I found a new prisoner"

"Who?" I asked, hoping it wouldn't be me, but I knew it would be.

"It's you" she growled before releasing my chin from her grasp.

"Whoever you came with, if anyone at all, they won't find you" Azula laughed before walking around me.

"You won't escape. You will never see them again"

My eyes widened at her words. She had to be lying. "They will never know what happened to you, they'll just forget you ever existed." Azula cackled.

"Why? Why are you doing this?" I croaked

"Because Mika, I enjoy watching those who wronged me suffer" Azula hissed before grabbing my arm which was scared and she dug her nails into it, making me scream.

Tears quickly flooded out of my eyes "Now Mika, maybe I can forgive you if you tell me who else is here" Azula whispered as she ran her fingernail along my scar.

She wanted me to rat out my friends. Zuko and the boy I love.

I sent a dark glare into her eyes, causing her nail to stop. "Never." I hissed before spitting in her face.

Gasping, she wiped my spit from her face before grabbing my arms, her hands were hot. "Then let's get back to it" she hissed.

Sokka's POV (YES IT'S HERE!!!)

After watching Chit Sang freeze and I was released, I rushed to find Mika and Zuko.

I hope they were okay, during the little fight in the yard, Mika and Zuko equally seemed to hate this place and almost blew our cover.

As I walked along the outside of a watch tower, I spotted a guard who looked off in the distance.

"Hey there, fellow guard, how goes it?" the guard sighs, looking up at me. "Zuko?" I ask as I lift my helmet mask.

"Shhh! Listen, I asked around the lounge. There are no Water Tribe prisoners. I'm afraid your father's not here." Zuko explained, causing me to frown.

He has to be here. I have to be able to find him, he can't just be lost.

"What? Are you sure, did you double-check?" I asked, hoping he missed something and he was here.

"Yeah, I'm sure." Zuko whispered, causing me to turn and bang my fists into the wall angrily. "No. No!" I hissed.

"I'm really sorry Sokka" Zuko mumbled sadly.

"So we came all this way for nothing? I failed ... again." I sighed and it was true. I failed at the invasion and yet again with trying to find my father.

"Ah, what would Uncle say? Sometimes, clouds have two sides, a dark and light, and a silver lining in between. It's like a silver sandwich! So ... when life seems hard ... take a bite out of the silver sandwich!" Zuko stumbled over his words but my attention landed on a girl in the prison yard.

It couldn't be.

"Maybe we haven't failed after all!" I spoke as I looked at Suki, who looked pained.

"That's the spirit! I can't believe that worked. I didn't even know what I was saying." Zuko smiled proudly but I glanced at him with confusion. "No, what you said made no sense at all. But look ...It's Suki!"  I cheered before the guard overhead called for the prisoner to return to their cells.

Slapping my visor down, I started running to try and catch up with Suki. "Sokka! Wait I forgot to tell you that M-" I heard Zuko called but I kept running.

STILL SOKKA'S POV

I entered Suki's cell, where she sat sadly.

"What is it now? Did I do something wrong again?" Suki spat.

"You mean you don't recognize me?" I asked, sounding offended. "You all look the same to me" Suki growled, which caused me to take my helmet off.

Her eyes widened as tears fell from her eyes. "Sokka! Mika was right!" she cried.

I froze.

Mika saw Suki. Where was Mika? Oh spirits.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Mika found me, and she was caught! She saved me from getting struck by a fire whip but I don't know what happened to her" Suki explained, making me clench my fists.

"The last I saw of her, guards were dragging her away after they knocked her out" Suki added, causing the color to drain from my face.

I knew Mika shouldn't have come. I knew it! Yet I let her come. Now she was imprisoned and who knew what was happening.

I failed her too. Yet again, I'm a failure and Mika was paying the price. I had to find her.

Suddenly, I heard a female guard scream from outside the door and the sound of Zuko. Looking back at Suki I slid out of the cell.

Mika's POV

"Please" I sobbed "Stop".

"I will once you tell me who's here" Azula growled as the small flame from her fingertips traced my scar, recreating the pain.

"No." I hissed as another tear fell from my eyes.

"Then you better hope we don't find that little boyfriend of yours, or he'll have a matching scar" Azula purrs.

"If he even survives the pain" she adds before another scream erupted from my throat.
