Chapter 34

02:52, 8 April 2013

Ross's POV

That night, I left for Boston around nine. Everything was set to go and I was definitely ready to see Emily.

I hugged everyone goodbye at the airport and boarded the plane. I took a deep breath and thought to myself, this is it.

The "Please Fasten Your Seat Belts" sign came on and I followed orders. The plane started moving and took off into the air. Here we go.

At about eleven, after I fell asleep, I felt my phone vibrate. I couldn't believe who it was from.

From: Emily<3

hey ross, so i understand if you'll completely ignore this text, especially after how i treated you, but please, hear me out...so i still dont forgive you for how you treated me but i will say this...i miss you, like crazy..i want you as my best friend again, when we would mess around with each other..if i do see you again before six months, i want us to stay friends, ok?

So, this text was good and bad:

1) Emily misses me!

2) She wants to stay friends.

How could she just want to stay friends? What am I going to say to her now? I was going to Boston to apologize to her and beg her to come back to me, not beg for us to just be friends.

So, what did I do? I texted her back the most idiotic response ever.

To: Emily<3

If you want to stay friends, thats cool with me

That text was a total lie, but what was I supposed to say? I miss you like crazy too but I don't want to stay just friends because I'm completely and totally in love with you.

That's exactly what was going through my mind but I knew that if I said that over text, it wouldn't be right. This was something I had to tell her in person.

Surprisingly, she texted me back.

From: Emily<3

im glad you understand...i have to go..goodnight

To: Emily<3

goodnight

I almost said "goodnight love" but changed it right before I sent it. That would've been a bit awkward.

I got comfortable in my seat, or as comfortable as you can get on a plane, and fell asleep thinking of Emily.

Emily's POV

I kept staring at the conversation Ross and I just had. Lame, I know, but still. I couldn't get him out of my mind.

Everything I said was true. I missed having him there for me as my best friend. He was always the one I could tease and have fun with. I feel like once we start hanging out again, it would just be better for both of us if we stayed friends. It would be less drama and, hopefully, neither of us would get hate.

After he texted me back, I laid down in my comfy hotel bed and fell asleep almost instantly, thinking of Ross.

That morning, I got up around five to get ready for the first concert. I was going to play at least three shows, the first one starting at noon, the second starting at three, and the third starting at six.

Luckily, each show was only an hour and a half so I would have time to eat and rest in between.

When I left my hotel room, I had to look up to remember what door number I had.

"258. I can remember that." I reassured myself.

"Are you ready?!" Melissa exclaimed when I met her down at the stage.

"Definitely." I faked a smile. To be honest, I wasn't that excited. Of course, I was excited to see the fans, but performing without R5 by my side felt different, and not a good kind.

"Ok Emily, if you could just do a quick couple of sound checks we can get you out of here and into hair and make up." One of the set guys told me.

"Sounds like a plan." I replied and walked up to the mic.

It took about an hour to do sound check so by the time I was done, it was already ten.

"Now for hair and make up!" Melissa said excitedly and led the way.

Hair and make up went by pretty fast and before I knew it, I was getting my outfit on and ready to hit the stage.

"Here we go." I told Melissa and listened to the screaming fans chanting my name.

"Are you guys ready for Emily?!" The announcer said and everyone screamed.

"Good luck!" Melissa smiled at me and gave me a quick hug before I went on.

I walked onto the stage and the crowd went wild. I had no idea how popular I was.

"How are you guys today?" I smiled and they all screamed again. "You guys are amazing." I complimented them. "So, my first song is called Dark Blue Diamond Sky. I hope you like it."

When I strummed the strings, I felt right at home.

The first show was a lot of fun. I played off the crowd's energy and was really enjoying myself.

When I got to the end of my set, however, a fan took me off guard.

"So, this is my last song for this set." I said and everyone aw'd. "Its called A Thousand Years." I could barely get the song title out. I felt a lump in my throat and I thought I was about to cry. I've never sang this song onstage without Ross by my side.

"Where's Ross?!" One fan yelled and everyone else agreed with her.

I was stunned. I had no idea someone was going to say that but now it was out there for me to answer.

"Well, he's back in Cali." I said.

"Why did you leave?" She asked. Oh my gosh.

"To play for you guys!" I smiled, trying to keep it upbeat, but even though they cheered, I could tell they weren't buying it.

"Is he coming down here?" Another girl asked.

"No, he isn't." I said.

"Why not?" She asked.

"Because we're over. Rossily is over. Forever." I said plainly and started the song.

"Jeez, you were pretty harsh on those fans out there." Melissa said to me after I walked off stage.

"Oh well, they asked for it." I shrugged, not in the mood to talk about it.

"Emily, you sure you're ok?" She asked me.

"I'm fine, Melissa. Really. Let's just go eat lunch." I said and started walking to my dressing room.

I was a complete, emotional mess.

Ross's POV

After I landed in Boston, I took a cab to my hotel and checked in.

It was a pretty nice hotel and had lots of space.

"Here's your key, sir. Room 259. Enjoy your stay." The guy at the front desk smiled at me.

"Thank you." I replied and walked up to my room. I plopped all of my stuff down and turned on the tv.

I made sure to text my mom after I arrived to let her know I was safe and completely fine.

I didn't do much that night. I mostly just went over Plan Get Emily Back a million times in my head and went on twitter. Of course, no one knew I was in Boston, in case word would spread and Emily would find out.

I was also very tempted to drive to the place where Emily was performing but decided that I better not since she might be down there.

As I was scrolling through twitter, I saw Emily's tweet.

@The_EmilyAnne: Boston! You guys ROCK! Can't wait to play again tomorrow!! Remember, same times! 12, 3, and 6! #Annies

I wanted to see her so badly. At least now I knew what times she would be performing.

@The_EmilyAnne: the only thing I dont like is boston traffic -__- i need to get to my hotel!

Wait, what if Emily and I were staying at the same hotel?! No, that couldn't happen. There are so many hotels here in Boston that its almost impossible for that to happen.

After about half an hour, I heard the door next to mine open and close.

The weirdest part, was what I saw Emily tweet right after that.

@The_EmilyAnne: Finally in my hotel room! long day...now time to relax!

It couldn't be. Was Emily in the room next to mine?
