Josh's POV
Josh paced his dorm.
"Dude, calm down. We don't know if the rumor is true or not," Daniel, his roommate, said from his bed.
Josh stopped pacing and looked at him.
A few days ago, his ex Destiny informed him that Riley had told her that Maya was pregnant.
But, they had slept together two months ago. Surely she would've known sooner.
"It could be true! My niece told Destiny. Riley does not lie," he said and sat down at his desk.
Daniel sighed and picked up his textbook again.
"Whatever. If it is, I wish you the best of luck. But, I'm happy knowing I'll graduate college without fathering a kid," he grinned.
"Shut up," Josh said.
A knock on the door sounded.
Josh opened it.
"Hi, Josh. Um, can we speak in private?" Maya asked.
She had heard the rumors. She had to of.
"Sure," he said.
They walked around New York's Times Square, sitting at a park bench.
They watched the birds dance in the sky; a mom sat across the street from them and smiled as she bounced her little girl on her knee.
Maya smiled at the interaction.
Josh watched too, and imagined what his baby with Maya would look like.
He imagined a little girl, with blonde hair and brown eyes, and maybe a little boy too. He'd be a year younger than his sister, and they'd have birthdays together.
"Josh," Maya was snapping at him.
"Huh?" He asked.
"I said," she dramatized. "Riley scheduled me in for an appointment tomorrow. Do you want to go?"
He smiled. "Yeah. I want to see this baby."
She laughed. She hadn't laughed in a while; it felt strange.
"So, have you decided.. on adoption or raising the baby?" Josh asked after they sat in silence for a while.
"I don't know. Guess we'll decide tomorrow," She said.
Josh nodded his head, taking in the scenery.
"Don't you have a girlfriend to get too?" She asked, referring to Destiny.
He shook his head. "We broke up."
She tilted her head. "Why?"
"I told her I couldn't be in a relationship when I already had a girlfriend. You're my girlfriend, Maya, if you want to be. You're carrying our baby, and I want to be there, every step of the way. Every sickness, mood swing, craving, birth, poopy diaper, every birthday. I'm not going anywhere."
Tears were falling as she looked at him. She took his hand and placed it in hers.
"I would love to be your girlfriend, Boing."
He kissed her hand and she laid her head on his chest; they sat like that for several hours. Just two kids, both confused about their feelings for each other, but they knew one thing: they'd make parenting work.

The next day
Maya sighed as she and Josh waited to be called back.
They were at the hospital, in the Maternity Ward, and seemed to be the only younger ones there.
Older ladies who had two or three children already and were heavily pregnant, couples sitting with their surrogates, families who eagerly awaited to see their newest family member and the parents, and adoptive parents waiting to meet their babies were the others who occupied the waiting area.
She sighed again, making Josh put his hand on her stomach.
That made her stop being nervous. She looked at him, smiling softly, and murmured a thank you.
Finally, a nurse came to the waiting room and called her name.
"So, I guess this thing is really happening, huh?" Josh asked.
She nodded her head. "Yup."
The doctor came in and smiled at the new couple.
"Alright I have a few questions before we start the ultrasound," he said, pulling his glasses closer to his face.
"When was your last period?"
"Two months ago. A week before Christmas Eve," She said.
He nodded his head and looked down at his clipboard.
"When was the last time you had sex?"
Maya's face blushed. She didn't want to answer.
"I'm her boyfriend. We had sex on Christmas Eve. It was both of our first times," Josh spoke up.
The doctor hushed, probably embarrassed by the answer.
Maya gripped Josh's hand, as a way of saying "thank you."
"Well, I'll go get a female nurse for this part."
He left the room and Maya looked at her boyfriend.
"So, first time, huh?" She laughed.
He smirked. "Yeah, yeah, make fun. I just wanted him to shut up. I don't know why they have to even ask."
She laughed and a female nurse walked in, a smile on her face.
"Hello, I'm Doctor Clarke. Let's get this ultrasound started!"
Maya winced as the cold gel was squirted onto her stomach, but her face lit up when the doctor put the wand on her and the screen showed her her baby.
No, their baby. Hers and Josh's.
Josh grinned as he asked, "So?"
The doctor clicked a few buttons and turned to the couple.
"Baby is measuring thirteen weeks along. Progressing nicely. I can print out a few photos, if you'd like?"
Maya nodded her head. "Yes, please."
The doctor left the room to print out the ultrasound photos, leaving Josh and Maya alone in the room.
"Wow. We're actually having a kid. It's real now," Josh whispered.
"You didn't believe me?" Maya asked.
"No, I did. It's just... seeing our kid growing inside of you is surreal. And in seven months they'll be here, and it'll no longer just be us, but we'll have a tiny human to care for."
Maya smiled.
The doctor came back in and handed them the photos.
"Your next appointment is in three weeks. I'll see you then. Have a nice day," She said.
"You too," Josh said.
The two drove back to the school in silence, each thinking about that appointment.
Riley jumped up from her bed when her best friend got back to their dorm room.
"So, how was the appointment? Is the baby okay?" Riley asked.
Maya nodded her head and showed her the photos.
"Yeah. Hey, do you have a frame?"
Riley nodded and got out a photo frame from her dresser.
Maya stuck the photos in the frame, sitting it up on her nightstand.
She smiled.
"Do you wanna go get supper? Farkle and Lucas got back yesterday and they'd like to go eat with us," Riley asked.
"Sure, I could eat," Maya said.
The girls linked arms and walked out of the room, down the stairs, and out into the winter wonderland.
For February, it sure was cold.
Maya pulled her coat tighter.
She could get used to being pregnant.
