Chapter 8: A Risk
18:52, 16 April 2017A/N: Chapter 8 is finally up! This chapter is kinda longer than the others but believe me you'll thank me for it after. Enjoy pitches!
-Beca's dorm room-
An hour later Beca had taken a much needed shower, changed her clothes, dried her hair and was now downing a luke-warm coffee before she closed her dorm roof behind her and walked out onto campus.
As Beca was crossing the quad she heard her name being yelled from a distance away. She stopped and turned to see her dad making his way towards her. "Feeling better this morning?" He said, stopping beside his daughter and smiling.
"Not even a hello now dad, wow. You're slacking." Beca didn't even make an attempt to give a reply to his question.
"Come on kiddo, let's go get a coffee and then you can truly explain to me what the hell last night was about." Dr Mitchell turned and started to walk in the direction of one of the four coffee shops on campus when he realised Beca wasn't beside him. He stopped and turned, just like his daughter had done only moments ago.
"Dad, as much as I'd love to explain what the hell I was doing last night there really is somewhere I need to be. Can we do this later?"
He looked down at his daughter and a frown began to form before he dismissed it and graced her with a smile. "Okay, as long as you promise to explain."
"I will dad, thank you. See ya." And before Dr Mitchell could utter a goodbye Beca carried on racing across the quad and to the Bella house.

-The Bella House-
Beca rapped her knuckles off the pristine white door three times before the alt girl was greeted with the sight of Fat Amy. "Hey short stuff!"
"Hey Amy, is Chloe in? I need to talk to her." Beca walked in and Fat Amy shut the door behind them.
"Yeah, she's in her room. She's been there all morning. I don't know what happened last night but that ball of sunshine has been as murky as the rainy season in Australia." The Tasmanian declared. Beca didn't bother responding to Amy's quirky response, she was up the stairs like a shot and sent another three knocks on front of Chloe's bedroom door.
"Chlo, it's me. Can I come in?" There was no reply and just as Beca was going to walk into her room Aubrey walked past, her left hand on her forehead.
"She won't speak to anyone. Not even me. I think it's best if we just give her some space Beca."
"No, Aubrey. I'm not going to give her space. If Chloe doesn't want to be around all of you than fair enough but I have to make sure she's okay. I care about her!" Beca's hands flew to her mouth and a blush crept onto her cheeks.
"I know you do Beca, we all do."
"No, you don't Aubrey. I care so much about her. When I came to Barden I expected to do a couple of years, drop out and move to LA. Then I met Chloe, somewhat unexpectedly-" Beca smiled as she thought back to Chloe bursting in on her during her shower. "-and then I met you girls and for the first time in my life I had people. People who cared. I am not going to just leave her alone and let he wallow just because you all think she needs some space. She isn't shutting me out."
As Beca finished her raging speech she heard the click of a lock and Chloe's door creeping open. Aubrey walked off, smiling to herself, and Beca turned to face Chloe.
"Hey." Was all Chloe said before Beca launched into a giant bear hug. Smothering the ginger with a mouth full of brown locks.
"Don't ever do that again. Don't ever shut yourself away from people who love you Chloe. Ever." The passion in Beca's eyes were still brewing from the speech with Aubrey and Chloe just tightened the hug around the small brunette's waist.
"I could say the same to you." Chloe laughed slightly, but the laugh was awkward. Beca let go of her and looked into her eyes. They were dim and not unlike Chloe's at all. Slowly Chloe's eyes started to form tears in the corner and Beca pulled her into a hug once again. "Don't you ever do that to me again Beca! I was terrified. I thought something had happened to you. Do you know how hard it was for me? I fell asleep not knowing if someone who is so fucking important to me was dead or alive!" She slapped Beca, but as to not hurt her, Beca giggled at the touch but squeezed the tall ginger even more.
They walked into Chloe's bedroom, which she shared with Aubrey, and they sat down on the bed. "Look Chlo, I'm sorry. I really am. What I did last night was a dick move and I'm really sorry. I didn't want to worry you but-" She stopped talking, her words failing. She couldn't explain herself. There was so much emotion, Beca wasn't used to it. Once again she wanted to run. She didn't. Not this time. She owed Chloe an explanation.
"Why did you run Beca?"
"Because I'm me. I'm a fuck up Chloe. You should know that. I shut out anyone who could possibly care about me-"
The older girl took hold of Beca's hand and started to drift slow circles, in an attempt to calm and reassure her. "Now, I'm going to have to stop you right there because you're not a fuck up. You're Beca 'Effin Mitchell. You're amazing. You're just a little damaged and that's okay. The best people are." She gave her signature wink to the small brunette. "I was just so worried; I mean if anything had happened to you... I don't think-" Chloe's words caught in her throat as she thought of the fact of Beca not being in her life anymore.
Beca didn't know what to say. The words Chloe had spoken hung heavy and thick in the air. Hanging over Beca's head, damn it, this red really does care about me she thought. "You're not losing me Chlo, and you never will." Beca then leaned forward. She had to reassure Chloe that she was here to stay and she could only think of one way to do it.
She knew if this didn't go to plan then she would screw up her relationship with Chloe, her time with the Bella's would be over but she had to take the risk. The jump. So, she did.
Beca's lips claimed Chloe's for her own. As soon as they touched a spark ignited in both woman, an electric shock coursing through their veins. Chloe was shocked but that didn't last long as a need for Beca was shooting through her every cell. Chloe reached her hands up the brunette's neck and kissed her back. Passionately. This movement elicited a slight moan for Beca. Beca cupped Chloe's face in her hands and ran her tongue along Chloe's bottom lip. Chloe granted her access and soon the girl's mouths were in a battle of dominance.
The girls eventually broke for air, their breaths coming out in short, ragged and heavy bursts. "It's not true then." Chloe forced out, her eyes clouded over with nothing but pure admiration and desire for the woman sat opposite her.
"What's not true?" Beca asked, confused as to what Chloe was going on about. Her mind was still in a dream haze after the moment they both shared.
"That you're not as cold and heartless as people make out." Chloe laughed as Beca's mouth formed into shock.
"I'll get you for that red, just you wait."
