Chapter 17

Who I Am

It's been half an hour after what happened, Sin is now sitting in the living room of Melody's home. The temperature in there is cold unlike the last time she been here, it's like how she had felt that one time when Melody killed that demon with her umbrella.

Melody walks down the stairs in the long silk nightgown she wore before but this time it's all black in colour. She walks into the living room and goes over to the fireplace that's under the big flat screen TV. She kneels down as she sits down like how she usually does, seiza style. She extends her hand as she rearrange the fire wood with her bare hand then she leans in and blows on the wood; fire instantly lights up as Melody backs away in time.

The room turns a but warmer as Sin stops from rubbing her arms from the cold. Melody gets up as she walks over to the kitchen, picking up a white circled object from a glass bowl as she crosses her arms and leans on the kitchen island counter; glaring at Sin.

"What?" Sin blurts out in confusion, Melody doesn't say anything as her eyebrows narrows even more. She bites down on the object in her hand, in anger. Blood squirts out as it rolls down from the sides of her lips and dripping down to her chin. Sin looks away before she makes Melody even more mad by commenting on that.

"You're lucky that I can keep my composure." Melody says as she throws the rest of the eyeball into her mouth and chews. Sin sighs as she hugs her arms,

"Sorry." She mumbles out, earning a quiet scoff from the black haired girl.

"You're spending the night here, but;" Melody says as she walks over and sits down on the couch in front of Sin. The space buns girl looks up with a look on confusion, "You're not going to wear that, go grab whatever in my closet." Melody says as she shoo's Sin away, the girl remains quiet as she stands up and walks up the stairs. As she do so, she looks down to see Melody staring off into the fire dancing in the fireplace.

The girl quickly gets up the stairs and walks down to a room with the door slightly open as she push it wide. The inside of room is really dim, the only light is coming from the curtains that's covering her balcony. For some reason, being inside the room makes Sin feels really at peace and.. sleepy. The girl shakes her head as she scurries over to the walk-in closet and push the black wooden sliding doors aside.

"That's.. a lot of clothes." Sin whispers out as she walks in, from dresses to even newly generation type of fashion. (Sweaters, hoodies, jeans, etc.) "That's weird, Melody never wears them though." Sin says to herself as she turns to the right to see all the night gowns, something purple caught her eyes as she reaches it and takes it out. It's actually a long laced nightgown that's a bit see through but there's undergarments inside for the person to wear.

"Mel owns this? Damn." Sin chuckles as she decides to wear that. She walks out from the closet and closes the doors and quickly hop in the bathroom.

"Feelings.." Melody blurt out as she continue to stare at the fire. "How does it feel?" She asks herself quietly and sighs. "It's like I lost all of my memory of how it feels." She mumbles as she closes her eyes.

"Mel!" Sin calls out, making the girl jump in surprise. She looks up and at her best friend, "I never knew you owned this dress, it's pretty sexy~" She giggles, Melody looks at the gown as she shrugs.

"I don't know I owned that either." She huffs as she looks off into space, not caring. "I think Lilith were the one to buy me so many things." She blurts out as she leans back on the couch. Sin raises her eyebrows,

"Lilith? Why?" Sin questions but Melody remains silent. A few seconds pass as Melody stands up,

"Nothing. I'm going to bed, you can sleep in the guest room that's in front of mine." She says before walking past Sin and up the stairs. Sin whines,

"I want to sleep with you! If you know what that means~" Sin teases but Melody acted as if she didn't hear anything the girl said as she walks up the stairs and disappear from sight. Sin pouts as she looks around the room, she remembers what Melody had just ate before as she walks up to the kitchen island counter to see a bowl of eyeballs. The fact that the bowl is half poured of water with the eyeballs taking up all the space makes Sin cringes a little.

She picks up one as she looks at it, it's a brown coloured eyeball. Sin cringes as she drops it back into the bowl. She sighs as she closes the lights downstairs and walks up the stairs. She remind herself about what Melody had told her as she enters the guest bedroom, it looks as if it's someone's because how well furnished it is too. But it feels cold in there unlike Melody's bedroom.

Sin closes the door behind her as she crawls under the covers of the bed, the girl stared up the ceiling as she suddenly realize something.

She's sleeping inside Melody's home, her bedroom is literally in front of hers. Sin sits up as she rethinks it again, she never knew the reason why she stopped seeing Melody for those years. Where did she go? Sin could take a risk and use her ability of going into people's dream or/and memories to know what happened. But in order for that, Sin had to make sure that the girl have to be in a deep sleep.

But how would she know if Melody is asleep? She's always napping in the evenings, she probably sleeps late. Sin was about to get off the bed to check up on the other girl but she suddenly hears soft piano being played nearby, Sin gets out of the bed as she walks up to the door; the sound getting much louder. She creaks it open to find the door next to Melody's bedroom is not closed all the way as light pours out from the gap.

"But I will spend a lifetime.." Sin could hear Melody sing quietly over the piano she's playing. "Trying to understand, why someone sharing my bloodline.." Sin could feel where this is going, and it's not pretty. "Would not lend me their hand?" The piano goes a bit faster as her voice skightly raises but hesitantly. "Am I supposed to apologize?" She repeats the same sentence for a few times before she suddenly stops playing the piano, Sin peeks in a bit to see her staring down at the piano with sad eyes.

"I wish you were here to teach me more about the piano.." Melody whispers as she trace her fingers on the keys, softly pressing some of it. Sin could of sworn that Melody slowly smiles, it looked so genuine and soft Sin couldn't help but stare. The sound of the door slightly creaking made Melody snap her head up, looking right at Sin which made the girl jump in surprise. She backs away and hides herself behind the wall, Melody stands up as she walks over to the door.

"What are you doing?" Melody asks as she looks at the girl. Sin wondered for an excuse as she blurts out,

"Uh, I couldn't sleep." She chuckles nervously, knowing that Melody won't buy that pathetic of an excuse. But to her surprise, Melody only blinked and shrugs her shoulders.

"Sleep in my room." Melody says as she walks pass her friend and right into hers, Sin's eyes widens.

"Are you serious?" She asks, stuck in her spot. Melody's voice is a bit muffled from being in the room as shuffling of covers could be heard.

"Fast before I change my mind." She raises her voice, Sin quickly took the opportunity as she speed walk into the room and closes the door behind her. Sin is right, the second she enters the bedroom; the feeling of peace and drowsiness overcomes all of her senses.

"Why do I feel so sleepy whenever I walk into this room?" Sin asks as she walks up to the bed, seeing that Melody is leaving space for Sin on the canopy queen sized bed. Melody is facing the other way with the cover over her shoulders.

"That just means you're tired." Melody says, Sin flatten her lips; not satisfied with the answer as she lies down on the bed and instantly feeling comfortable from the soft mattress. She turns to Melody who is facing away from her,

"Mel, I still can't sleep." She says, teasing Melody. It was quiet for a moment,

"I can, goodnight." She says as she pulls the covers over her head. Sin pouts as she turns to look up at the canopy, the red colour of it and all the patterns it has on the fabric. She glances to Melody to see her still under the covers, now all she has to do is wait.

It's been half an hour now and Melody had pulled the cover until it only covered her body, Sin can visibly see that she had fallen deep asleep.

"Time to work my charm.." Sin quietly says as she scoots closer to the sleeping girl, putting her hand over Melody's head as her hand glows purple. In an instant Sin is teleported into Melody's dream, she looks around to see that she's in the woods. It's dark as she looks up, the trees are so tall it's almost covering the skies and the moonlight. Sin was caught off guard when someone runs past her in such a speed that the wind blows the girl in the face.

Sin looks after the person who had run to see long black haired girl in a red Victorian dress. She was taken aback again when 4 men with axes and fire sticks in hand chasing after the girl. They have blurried faces, more like faceless. Now that Sin remembered, this is Melody's nightmare. She quickly runs after them, she stops when she see that Melody had actually hid in the bushes, the men running past her.

Sin walks closer to the girl as she watch her, she holds something in her hand as she grips on it tightly. There's tears running down her cheeks, even dried and stained her face. There's cuts and bruises from the branches that cut her from running.

There's so much.. emotion on her. A part of Sin's heart breaks seeing the girl in front of her, that's when Sin sees it. What's inside her hands is a red Amulet that she had seen Lucifer threatened her with.

"She's over there!" A man shouts as Melody jumps in fear, but she was too weak to move anymore. As the men runs over, Sin watch as Melody look up the dead skies. Her lips parting as she sings even if her voice is dry. When the men arrived, they grabbed her arms and legs as one of them raises the axe. Sin couldn't bare watching as she turns away, the sound of flesh cutting and blood curling scream could be heard as it slowly dies down.

Sin shuts her eyes and covers her ears as it slowly fades away. She opens her eyes to realize that she's in a room and it seems like it's from Hell.

"Because you're working with a demon that tried killing my wife but saved my daughter, I'll let you off the hook." Lucifer's voice could be heard, Sin turns to them to see Lucifer sitting on a throne and Melody kneeling on the floor with cuffs and guards behind her. There's blood dripping from her lips and her head. "With one condition.." Lucifer smiles his big signature smile as he gets off the throne and walks up to the girl, grabbing her face as he forces her to look at him.

"This holds so much power, I'll be taking this." Lucifer says as he rips the amulet off from around Melody's neck. She struggles as she screams.

"GIVE IT BACK!" She screams, having a lot of rage and hatred laced in her eyes. Lucifer laughs as he kneels in front of her, still holding her face as he suddenly shoves his hand into her chest, as if taking out her heart but instead he pulls out a burning soul with the mixed colours of red and pink. The second he did that, Melody's face turns dull and emotionless. He lets go off her face as her head drops and hangs as if she was lifeless.

"If you succeed in taking care of my daughter and fulfill her awful dreams that's soon to come, I'll give you back what you owned." Lucifer laughs as the guards harshly pulls Melody back up to her feet and out of the room with the girl not even trying to fight back, her eyes are dull and empty as she stares off into the ground.

Sin couldn't believe what she's watching, Lucifer were the reason behind all of Melody's suffering. Yet Melody endured all the pain and torturing this fucked up demon did to her. The place around Sin blurs out as it turns to another place, in front of her is Melody sitting in her usual seiza Japanese style on the floor. Her face is dull and empty as her hair is now neatly tied into a messy bun. In front of her is a small blonde haired baby, playing with toys.

The baby with the mouth is silenced with a pacifier, looks up at Melody with a toy in hand. The girl only look at the small child as she painfully tries to smile, it's like she doesn't know how to smile. Sin holds her chest, seeing everything makes her feel so much pain and regret. No wonder why Melody is so dull, cold and just downright empty. Despite all of those, she never lost her traits of kindness and generosity even in a place like this.

She sighs, not having the energy to go on her memories when her dream is already like this. She pulls herself out of Melody's subconscious mind as she opens her eyes and feels something wrapping around her waist. Sin looks down to see Melody is hugging the living hell (no puns intended) out of the girl. Sin's face flush a bit of pink but then she remembers what was in her dream, Melody was killed with an axe. Sin reach out as she slowly push Melody's sleeves to reveal her wrist and there's indeed scars from her death.

The fact that when she was kidnapped by Johnny, her leg came off and she didn't even looked like she cared. Remembering all of those painful trauma, Sin hugs her best friend back as she listens to her rhythmic breathing, slowly drifting herself to sleep too. Now that Sin knows the reason why Melody is how she is, she's not going to go easy on Lucifer even if he's the King of all of hell.

They don't know how capable she's really is.
