Sam POV
It's out in the middle of nowhere. It didn't take me very long to get here, luckily. It's a small, abandoned building, set up next to a road that clearly hasn't been used in quite some time. There's a bridge above it, most likely that's where the train passes.
It's cold inside. The temperature easily competes with the frigid late November air outside. It smells strongly of mold and something probably died in here.
It's too dark, so I turn my phone flashlight on. Bucky, who I find laying on the concrete floor, shields his eyes from the harsh light and grumbles something like, "Fuck off."
"Where's your phone?" I ask, kneeling down next to him- careful of the broken glass scattered all over.
"Here, why?" He lazily tosses his cell phone at my head.
"I need mine for the light, so I'm using yours to call the police," I explain, dialing 911 on his phone.
"Why don't we just go home?"
"You have a railroad spike in your leg." He lifts his head up off the floor and looks at his leg like he hadn't noticed. "I'm not pulling that thing out of you. Now be quiet, I'm on the phone."
He opens his mouth to say something right as the operator answers the phone, so I cover his mouth with my hand.
"911, what's your emergency?"
"My roommate got hurt somehow so we might need an ambulance and someone who hates him less than me to figure out what the fuck happened." I uncover Bucky's mouth. "How did you even get here?"
"I dunno."
"That's gre-"

(Third Person POV)
He's cut off by the sound of two gunshots, and two bullets hit him right in the back. John Walker steps into the light, kicking Sam across the room to be forgotten, and shoots Bucky's phone, ending the call. He sets down a lantern to make up for the lack of electricity and shoots Sam's phone as well.
"Was that the police?" He asks, nodding toward the destroyed phone. When he doesn't get an answer, he cocks his gun and aims it at Bucky's face. "I asked you a question."
"Yeah," Bucky responds, sounding hollow as he lets his attention drift from his attacker to the body on the other side of the room.
"He's dead now," Walker growls, leaning down and grabbing Bucky's face to force his attention back onto him. "I'd kill you, too, but I don't think a bullet in your head would do it, and I don't really have time to figure something out before the police get here."
To Bucky, all noise in the room sounds like it is underwater as he refocuses on his dead friend. He's oblivious to Walker's droning on until he gets kicked in the face.
"Pay attention. I need to make sure that this isn't traced to me, so I'm gonna take your tracker and put it with someone else, and-"
"Tracker?" Bucky murmurs, not quite following.
"There's a tracker in your left arm," Walker explains slowly. Condescendingly. "I don't know how to detach your arm like the Dora do, and I think the tracker is in the port anyway, so I'm just going to remove the whole thing. And if I find out that you have so much as uttered my name to anyone, I will find you, and I will put you down like the rabid animal you are."
He unzips the circular bag he brought with him and raises the shield above his head.
(Short chapter but I felt like I needed to get it out before i decided i hated it again. Also I've been considering deleting Sam's date lady completely and possibly adding sam into the romance that youre all waiting for- I know, I'm sorry, just a few more chapters- but I wont do that if y'all dont want me to. But if you guys stay silent abt it I'm just gonna go with the flow of whatever is happening)
