[39] Brother

Kagami stares into the boy's eyes as the sand descends down on her, aiming to kill.

"What's going on here?"

The sa' drops from above, burying Kagami up to her ankle in it. Gaara lets out a noise of annoyance before shoving past her and heading down the stairway, his sand spiking dangerously as he passes. Kagami turns to look over her shoulder, meeting the eyes of her brother. She smiles lightly at him more than relieved to have his presence with her. He smiles back before taking her hand and walking her back to the audience.

"You know what's going on don't you?" Kagami nods at him, wondering why they are moving away from the balcony. "Shikamaru moved to the audience, plus we would be most useful there."

Kagami nods again, her face flushing slightly. Kakashi doesn't glance at her, he's too busy thinking. There's rumors going around. Rumours that Kagami is the rat. That she's the one getting information out, he didn't want to believe it. But the fact that she knows all that information before anyone else proves a little suspicious. He tries to shake his thoughts but things seem to be adding up nicely to be a coincidence. She's been under speculation ever since that criminal came in knowing her name and information about her.

Suddenly Kagami tugs on Kakashi's hand to get his attention. He looks down at her as she looks away from him and at the ground.

"Kakashi can I ask you something, it must be top secret?" The man's eyes widen, possibilities running through his head.

"Yeah,"

'Maybe they were right, maybe she is leaking information.'

Kakashi watches her closely as she tries to look at him but avoids his gaze. The two slow down before completely coming to a stop on a platform between the stairs. She tugs her hand out of his, looking at the ground again.

'Shame? Worry? Is she really betraying Konoha?'

"What do you do if . . . if . . .um," Kakashi stares at his sister, he has never heard her stutter before, let alone not know what to say.

"What's going on Kagami? Is something going on?" Kakashi almost starts to sweat as his hands shake a little.

He loves his sister, but if she has betrayed the village there is nothing to do apart from eliminate her. His eyes tear up at the thought, wishing for it not to be true.

"What do you do if-if-if," Kagami looks up from the ground and straight into her brothers eyes, her face bright red, "What do you do if someone kisses you?!"

Kagami's voice came out a lot louder than she had intended, she raises her hands over her mouth in embarrassment.

"Huh?" Kakashi's head tilts to the side, his mind blank.

His eyes go wide and his body suddenly seems so small.

'Here I was, thinking she was a traitor, when all she wanted was boy advice . . . . ?'

Kakashi shakes his head smiling slightly at his little sister. He pats her head lightly as she plays with the end of her shirt and glares at the floor.

"You see Kagami, when a boy kisses you, if you like him back, you can kiss him back. But if you don't, kick him in the scrotum. Okay?"

Kagami nods, grabbing his hand and continuing on their walk to the audience. She suddenly stops again, looking dead into her brother's eyes.

"Brother," Kakashi sweat drops at her formality, "A boy kissed me. And then walked off. What do I do?"

Kakashi's eyes widen excessively.

" . . . What?" He stares down at his sister with confusion rising up inside of him.

"Today, a boy kissed me, and then walked off straight after. He didn't even talk to me. What do I do?" Kagami doesn't take her eyes off her brother as his eyes swirl with emotion.

Anger rises from deep inside his soul, he suddenly wants to protect his sister with every ounce of his body until the day he dies from it.

"Who did what?" Kakshi's eyes go bright red, as he shakes his sister back and forth violently.

"I just want to know what that means, plus you read all those perverted books." Kakashi stops shaking her for a second, embarrassment running through him as he covers his mouth with a hand, giving his sister a sly look.

"Obviously you never got the appropriate education," He pulls out the infamous orange covered book from his ninja pouch and shoves it in her face. "I may be able to help you."

Kagami's face goes bright red as she raises a fist and smacks him around the head, causing him to drop the book to the ground.

"I just wanna know how to deal with this extreme event." Kagami grabs her brother's hand as he tries to grab his book, she tugs him along, making him leave his book behind.

Tears stream down his face as he tries to reach for his book but Kagami pulls him along down the stairs. He watches in agony as the book leaves his sight. He then sighs, looking back at his sister.

"Kagami, a boy kissing you is not extreme. I known you haven't been raised in the best of places to teach you how to deal with this but-"

"It wasn't a normal kiss, Brother." Kakashi's eyes widen again at his sister, his mind racing.

'Did this delinquent touch her? What could he have done? Huh, m-maybe? No. But what if?!'

"Did he use tongu-"

"He didn't kiss me here," Kagami turns to her brother, stopping once again.

Kakashi follows her finger as she points at her forehead where he kisses her regularly as a sign of love, like the love of a parent or close family member. He watches it closely as it moves down and to her cheek, just next to her mouth on her left cheek.

"He kissed me here, it is a lot more serious than you think." Kagami continues walking down the stairs, pulling her dumbfounded brother with her.

Kakashi deadpans as he follows his sister once again, she is very naive. Kakashi chooses to just continue on his way with her pulling him along. He may have to sit her down and explain the way of life to her after these exams. He knew that Kagami would be lacking in many areas of knowledge and education, but not this lacking.

'A kiss on the cheek has her mind racing. Reminds me of myself at her age to be honest.' Kakashi's mind trails back to the times when he had very little social skills in Team 7 with Obito and Rin. He smiles a little at how firidged he had been about the exact same topic. And then Minato Namikaze spoiled his mind with the orange covered book. Not many knew of how Kakshi had stumbled upon those tabooed books, but many would be shocked to know the truth. Plus, Kakashi doesn't want to tarnish the image of Konoha's most loved Hokages.

Kagami continues to pull her brother along, making sure she wasn't going to smack into Gaara's back as the head down the flights with haste in their step. Suddenly they both stop again, this time it was Kakashi stopping the two instead of Kagami. She turns to look back at him, question marks flying around.

"Kagami, who is this boy that kissed you?" Kakashi gives the girl a look of extreme importance, anger swirling up inside of him again.

He will destroy the boy who dared to kiss his sister, even if it may be on the cheek, and then walk away without a word.

"Shikamaru Nara."

Kakashi's entire face drops again as they continue to walk their way back again, within the last corridor now.

"Shikamaru Nara kissed you?"

"Yes."

"And you didn't see it coming?"

"No. Why?"

"Kagami you spent five days in his house."

"And? I've spent months in your house and I haven't kissed you."

"One; I'm your brother, two; I'm years older than you."

"So you're saying, because he is a boy my age, and I spent time in his house, he kissed me?"

Kakashi sighs and rubs his face with his free hand, "Kagami I'll explain it when the exam is over. But don't mention this to anyone else."

"Is it really that serious?"

"Yes Kagami, it is that serious."

"Oh," Kagami opens the door to the audience, pulling him to the back of the stands where Sakura waves them down.

'I must protect this girl at all costs.'

Kakashi suddenly yanks his sister back towards him and hugs her around the waist. He picks her up and holds her against himself as he walks up to his student and past the Nara boy who is giving him an odd look. Kakashi glares heavily at him and Kagami goes slack in his arms and just allows the man to carry her around. She may be elite, but she is still thirteen and still his sister and she is also still in the recovery stage. She wouldn't admit it, but she is tired from her fight with Kankuro and the scare with Gaara. She just stays limp in his arms, trusting him to be able to hold her weight. He sits down next to the two, Kagami sitting down on his lap limply, ready to fall asleep, she didn't realise the amount of adrenaline she has been running off until she stopped moving.

Kagami leans back against her brother's chest and rolls her head back, her eyes shutting heavily. The two genin watch as she falls asleep against her brother's shoulder, her body releasing all tension and her face going blank. Sakura had never seen the girl so peaceful during the time she had known her.

"Kakashi-sensei, what happened to her? Y'know that caused her injuries?" Sakura watches the girl peacefully sleep.

"She had a lot on her plate at the time and blew a fuse, it happens to many in the Root." Sakura nods and looks back to the arena.

Sasuke and Gaara are going to fight soon, it has been a long awaited fight.

"Will she be okay?" Sakura asks as she stares down at her crush, who is wearing a . . . questionable outfit.

"She'll be fine Sakura, she just needs some rest and no more problems popping up." Kakashi directs his gaze to Shiakamru who is still trying to figure out why the man was sending him hateful looks.

Kagami's hand flinches in her sleep, causing it to slide off Kakashi's leg and into Shikamaru's. The boy goes to pick it up and place it back but Kakashi snatches it up from him, placing it back delicately and looking back to the arena.

Kakashi has trained this boy to the bone for the past month, even teaching him his own technique. If this boy doesn't win there will be stern words.

'With the boy because his parents aren't able to, for obvious reasons.'

Ah, we now know where Kagami's savageness comes from, it's in her bloodline. Though Kakashi would never say out loud his thoughts, Kagami seems more than comfortable to, something he finds quite amusing, especially since she doesn't understand the easier half of the world.

Kakashi shakes off his thoughts, watching the 'anbu' as they wander around the crowd, counting them over and over again so he can make sure what they are up for. If Kagami is right, which he is pretty sure she is, it will be a close battle if these guys are anything like Konoha Anbu. He would have to find a way to get Kagami out of the way if the nap she is having isn't enough to replenish her strength. He pushes her katana to the side so it wouldn't obstruct his vision of the field, he will watch this boy fight even if it woke up Kagami and she killed him.

Though he is sure that he will be fine, maybe. He has spent the last ten minutes trying to explain boys to her and only got the one sentence out before she completely lost him. So hopefully by some lucky chance, she will spare him.

He is her brother.
