[22] Interview
13:34, 23 April 2019Kagami stares at the three siblings from where she is tied to a chair. Her eyes glance back and forth between them all, trying to collect information before she decides how to kill them.
Gaara stares at her the entire time, arms crossed and eyes only slightly open. Temari and Kankuro take turns in eating and entertaining themselves. And as for their team sensei, he's quietly asleep in the next room, completely oblivious to the current situation that is happening in the room next to him.
Kagami eyes the three siblings, trying to pick up a pattern in their movements. Every 10 minutes Temari and Kankuro swap, when this happens Gaara looks away and turns to them slightly, only briefly taking his attention off of Kagami. Though, she knows that if she were to make the slightest movement, Shikaku's sand would most likely crush her being so it is only made of bone fragments.
Every now and them Kagami shifts, or moves slightly to monitor reactions. Gaara doesn't falter, but the sand jumps a little, ready to attack. Temari would turn her body to look, whereas Kankuro would only shift his eyes towards her, trying to seem more casual and to hide that fact that he is aware of her movements. After gathering all this informations, Kagami turns her head slightly to stare back at Gaara, knowing it will create some sort of reaction from Shikaku. Whether it be good or bad, it will good information to collect from him.
So far Kagami had sat there silently, ignoring every question they asked of her. She would just stare at the wall in front of her as her Root training had taught her. But so far, it has got her nowhere. She has spent at least 4 hours in the house, only glaciated around when no sibling was looking at her, or Gaara was blinking. So she was ready for some entertainment, a reaction.
But she doesn't get one, neither Gaara nor sand moves, disappointing the girl. Though she does not show it. So she looks back at the wall and focuses on the same spot. Kagami thinks of another strategy to distract the three. She thinks back to her Anbu times when she was first put on a team, just before she became Anbu Captain. She had this one girl in her team, a girl, Aki, who took care of her. She was the leader of the team, always getting them through missions in record time, which is what lead Kagami to receiving the highest status in Root.
She used to play with her victims, make them believe that them dying wasn't even worth an Anbu mission, she used to sit on their couches and read there magazines as she unknowingly manipulated information out of them. This situation reminded her of one particular mission.
"Where is he, and where do you get these magazines from? I must know, these have some great recipes in them."
"I'll tell you nothing,"
"All I was asking for is the shop name,"
"Nana's Book Shop, now can we hurry this up."
"Why? I'm just at the good bit."
"I have a meeting with someone, they have come all the way from the Land of Mist and I don't want to disappoint."
"Thank you for your time."
In an instant he was dead. His eyes staring blankly at us from the chair he was tied to.
"Kagami, that's how you do it. But don't ever trade any information about you to them, okay. Only pretend."
Kagami comes back to the situation at hand and glances back over at Gaara. He is still looking at her intensely. So she doesn't look away. She stares back at him making sure to note any reactions.
Gaara's eyelids close slightly, if Kagami had not been staring into his eyes she would not have noticed. He looks away from Kagami and over at his siblings as they switch activities. When he looks back Kagami is sitting on the chair, cross legged and untied, reading a magazine off the hotel shelf. His eyes widen and he scurries to his feet, his hand swirling around him.
"Who are you?" He asks, glaring at her intensely.
"Normally when you kidnap someone, you know who they are. That's why you kidnap them." Kagami couldn't keep the small amount of sass from showing, though it wouldn't be noticeable to most.
"Why does he want you?"
"Why does he want me dead?" Kagami looks up, her eyebrows raised underneath her headband. Gaara nods slightly.
"Well, Shikaku," everyone in the room tenses. "Wants me dead because of Yua."
Yua's voice reaches through Kagami's to scare Shukaku.
"If you don't let my host go, I will kill you for good and inform Kurama."
A ball of sand appears in between the two, circling around dangerously. This is Kagami's opportunity, the view of them is blocked by the sand and Yua can distract Shukaku long enough.
"I'm so scared."
The window bangs shut, closing out the night as Kagami races down the street, sprinting away almost worried about being caught again. Almost.
She runs so fast she can't make out the structures around her, making her slam smack bang right into her brother. His arms wrap around her as the go rolling down the street, causing dust to rise. Since the sun had set and disappeared everyone was in their homes and preparing for bed, no one was out to witness the scene.
Kakashi doesn't let go of his sister, he tightens his grip around her and just lays there as the dust settles around them. She lightly grips his vest, still trying to figure out how she had run straight into him without knowing it.
Kakashi finally sits up, pulling Kagami with him, he picks her up and holds onto her as he starts the walk home.
"I can walk," she mumbles.
"I know you can," he replies.
"Then put me down."
"No,"
"Why?"
"I can't have you getting lost again."
"....."
"We are fighting."
"I don't care anymore."
"Why not?"
"Because I don't want to loose you ever again."
s.h.o.u.t.
"You mean, the three genin from Suna kidnapped you and then let you go?"
"No Lord Hokage, I escaped. Their Jonin was not aware of my presence."
He nods, taking a few deep breaths through his pipe. "I'll give them a warning, one more false move and they are banned from future Chunin exams, simple." He looks up at the siblings from his desk, before focusing his gaze on Kakashi. "Don't let her out of your sight, we can't have this happen again."
"Hai, Lord Hokage."
"Relay this information to Asuma and Kurenai, and there respective genin teams. Dismissed." Kagami is the first to move, her brother following her slowly, just to make sure there isn't anything else they needed to know. But the Hokage doesn't say anything, only watches them leave slowly.
As soon as the door to his office closes he sighs and slumps in his chair, "I feel like I have to be all professional around those two, man. They look so similar," He swivels around in his chair a couple times. "I wonder if Kagami knows that Kakashi reads porn? Hm, interesting."
"Do I have any spare Anbu lying 'round?"
s.h.o.u.t.
Kagami sits on the couch quietly, her brother sitting next her her just as silent. Neither of them have ever been good at the brother-sister bond thing. But Kakashi had realised that even if he still doesn't care for her as a sister, he cares for her as his student, and that's enough for him to want to make sure she's alright.
Kagami looks up at him slowly and stares at the side of his face, trying to imagine what he looks like without a mask. She does this for a while, catching Kakashi's attention. He looks over at her, but she doesn't look away, instead she tilts her head and leans closer, squinting her eyes and staring harder.
"Kagami,"
"Yes?"
"What are you doing?"
"Trying to see what you would look like without a mask on."
Kakashi sweat drops at his sister, slightly shaking her head.
"Do you want me to take it off?"
"No."
Kakashi looks down at her surprised by her answer, "and why is that?"
"Because now I have a good mental image of you, and I don't want your face to disappoint me."
Kakashi gasps loudly as Kagami smiles lightly. He falls off the couch and onto the floor dramatically, his soul leaving his body slightly. Suddenly he sits up straight, his eyes narrowed.
"I bet you're really ugly."
"You'd be worse, you look like an old man."
"I don't not look like an old man! If I look like an old man you look like a granny!"
"No I'm 13, my hair just looks like it's dyed grey, your hair looks like it's turned that colour because you're old."
Kakashi clenches his hair with his hand, staring at his sister, the best face of betrayal on his face. Kagami giggles lightly at this. Her eyes closing like her brothers do when he laughs.
Kakashi internally smiles, 'Even if it's only a little, we have managed to open her up a little bit. Even if she isn't ready to let us in, or love. We've done something.'
"THAT'S IT! NO DINNER FOR YOU YOUNG LADY!"
"I thought I was an old lady?"
"Wha—but—huh?" Kakashi stares at his sister, his expression annoyed. "Fine, you win, what do you want for dinner?"
"Ramen."
"Ramen?!" Kakashi's voice goes high pitch as he stares at his sibling. "Has Naruto put you up to this? Is he trying to see my face again?"
She shakes her head, "In Anbu we used to eat ramen because it was the cheapest option."
"I thought is was dango?"
"No, dango are a delicacy now."
"I really am getting old."
"I told you."
"Do you want ramen or not?"
"I don't need you to get me ramen, I'm not relying on you."
Kakashi immediately becomes depressed. His shoulders sulk and his face goes dark as his features become sad.
'She's nothing like the other three, they react to everything and would love me to take them out for ramen, they are so cute.' He sulks his way out of the house behind Kagami.
"But, I want you to take me out for ramen."
'KAGAMI CAN BE CUTE TOO!'
