tea...but which one...

after erity had walked out the armed detective agency she had gone down the stairs back to the first floor and remembered their was a cafe as she walked through it out the building, making her wonder if she should go back after she bought her onigiri and aspirin and have a cup first before going back home.

as she walked out the convenience store with a small plastic bag which held her onigiri while the aspirin she had bought from the pharmacy was held in her jacket pocket.

she looked up at the sky to see it was still early so she might as well go back and have a cup of tea. and that way she could take some aspirin too for her headache was starting to become quiet annoying as her head thumped.

she hadn't gone too far from the cafe that was under the armed detective agencies office as she walked inside she hadn't expected for them all to be sitting their, looking up at her as she was looking at them.

"You!" kunikida was the first to speak as she walked further into the cafe.

"Me" she said with her monotonous voice as she looked at him with her empty eyes and expressionless face which ticked him off.

"Oh! erity-kun, you're back" dazai spoke. turning from the waitress to erity, smiling.

erity walked passed him and kunikida as they where sitting at the bar and thought about taking a spot a bit further away when she was slightly taken by surprise although nobody could see it when she noticed atsushi shuffle more to the right on the seat he was sitting at, making space for her.

she stopped right next to the seat and glanced up at atsushi, she saw him shift nervously. avoiding eye contact.

"Thank you" she spoke with her monotonous voice making him look at her in surprise before giving her a smile and relaxed as she sat next to him, placing her bag with onigiri on the table.

"I see you where capable of getting that onigiri you wanted" tanizaki chuckled slightly as he saw the bag.

"Yes, i was" erity said as she looked at him.

she saw he was surprised but tried to suppress it. she didn't mind, though, most people where the first couple times they met her.

his sister on the other hand seemed to already be over it as she was just smiling at her from next to her brother before turning to him and whispering in his ear making him turn questiongly to his sister before glancing at erity again. two more light bulbs went off.

"About that!" kunikida spoke up as he looked at her. pissed, which she had notted was quiet usual for him as she turned to him.

not that bothered about the exchange between the siblings and forgot about it seeing as nobody else really noticed it.

"What kind of answer was that?!" he shouted before repeating the answer she had given "No thanks, i want onigiri and aspirin"

"Because i wanted onigiri and aspirin" she told him, kunikida had to hold himself back as right at that moment a waitress came to the table to get erity's order, giving him the time to think about what she had just said making him come to a realization he hoped wasn't correct.

erity had given her order of green tea and the waitress had left.

"Wait..." kunikida trailed of as he was looking at the ground, trying to keep himself composed "Are you to tell me that the only reason you refused to join the agency is because..."

"I wanted onigiri and aspirin" she stated, finishing his sentence and making everybody beside dazai who just smiled, chuckle nervously while sweatdropping from her answer as they cautiously watched kunikida, expecting him to explode any moment but all he did was let himself drop back down on his seat, letting out an exasperated sigh.

"So..." atsushi started making erity turn too him "Does that mean you are joining the Armed Detective Agency?" he asked.

he didn't let it be heard through his voice but erity could see it in his eyes, he was hoping she would join so that he wouldn't be the only one new.

erity turned to looking down at the table, she had actually thought about it, while she was buying her onigiri and aspirin she had seen how little money she had left in her wallet making her remember that she didn't have much left at all. only enough to pay the rent one more time and the little she had left in her wallet.

and if she where to join the agency, she would also get a lot of changes at different ways of dying seeing as they solve crimes which are considered too violent or difficult for the police to handle.

she was snaped out of her thoughts as a cup of green tea was placed on the table, right in front of her.

"Thank you" she told the waitress who gave her a smile before walking away again, seeming unfaced from her monotonous voice and empty eyes.

turning back to the cup of tea, she could still feel atshuhi's and the siblings awaiting eyes as she grabbed the cup and even though they didn't let it show, kunikida and dazai where listening, all of them awaiting her answer.

she took a sip of the tea with closed eyes before bringing the cup back down and opening her eyes.

"I'll join" she spoke, finally giving her answer before going back to sipping her tea again, not noticing the little sighs from the anticipation coming from the rest.

after that atsushi and the siblings smiled as they where to continue their conversation, dazai let out a soft chuckle before returning to flirting with the waitress and kunikida let out another sigh but this time out of exhaustion, knowing he was going to have to deal with another suicide maniac. but all in all, they accepted her into the agency.

erity was happy she was holding her cup or it would have probably tipt over as tanizaki slammed his hands on the table and bowed down.

remembering he was going to apologize before erity had walked in.

"I...I...i'm so sorry!" he shouted making kunikida turn to him while dazai continued to flirt with the waitress.

"Huh?" atsushi questioned while erity just glanced at him.

"Though it was for your exam, i was rude to you" tanizaki continued before looking back up while kunikida started kicking dazai, annoyed at him for flirting with the waitress "My name is tanizaki junichirou, i work as an assistant of sorts at the agency"

"Please, it's all right" atsushi told him as he raised his hands.

"Yes, and afterall. i already knew it was a test" erity spoke making the siblings and atsushi turn to her surprised.

although it wasn't mine, so i see no reason for him to apologize to me

"Wait, you also knew?" atsushi asked her, slightly down at the fact he was the only one that didn't know.

"Not because they told me, i found it out" erity clarified "You're acting was pretty good though" she told them,

"Wasn't it~" naomi said as she hugged her brother closer and looked up at him making him shiver.

erity was glad she was capable of averting their attention to something else, to tired to have to explain how she knew.

"And this is-" tanizaki began as naomi had let go a bit but was cut of by her as she just hugged him again.

"His little sister, naomi" she smiled.

"Y-You're siblings?!" atshuhi asked surprised "I'm not sure i see a family resemblance"

naomi chuckled "Oh? you doubt us?" she said as she trailed her hand down his chest "Of course we're siblings by blood" Her hand played on top of tanizaki's lap before she shoved her hand under the male shirt and caressed his body "We're quiet similar, especially this part"

taniazaki shivered under her touch but didn't remove her hand.

"Right, brother?" she asked as she placed her other hand under his chin and leaned closer into him making him lean away from her little by little as she kept getting closer.

"Oh, but..." atshuhi stuttered as he watched the siblings, blushing. before they fell back into the seat doing who knows what, erity also watched them before taking another sip of her tea seemingly not bothered by the siblings or more like she just didn't care.

"Don't pursue this line of inquiry with them too far" kunikida told atshuhi as he appeared next to the booth.

"Er, okay..." atsushi said.

"In any event, brats" he spoke to atsushi and also glanced at erity who looked back at him like atsushi "Today you two have joined the ranks of our Armed Detective Agency" he told them before turning to the siblings as he spoke louder "Do not be a burden to anyone nor shame the agency's good name"

"The rest of us are committed to that, at least" kunikida said as he had composed himself again "Right, dazai?" he asked as he turned around only to see dazai still flirting with the waitress.

"Would you strangle me with these fragile, delicate fingers?" dazai asked her as he held her hand and trailed his fingers over her palm. kunikida stopped over to him and smacked him over the head making dazai face plant into the table.

strangulation, i haven't tried that out in a while

"Are you going to smear mud on the agency's name right as i'm saying we never would?! you bastard!" kunikida scolded him, pissed once again as atshuhi sighed "Don't bother asking for her help all the time! i'll crush your neck with my own bony fingers!"

would he strangle me? i should keep it in mind. but only as a last resort, afterall. i would rather die on my own

"By the way" atsushi spoke up as kunikida was strangling dazai "What were both of you doing before you joined the agency?" he asked making kunikida stop strangling dazai as they turned to atsushi, slightly surprised.

"Uh, no real meaning behind that question, by the way" atsushi added, slightly nervous.

"Take a guess" dazai told him as he sat backwards in his chair, while kunikida had sat back down in his.

"Huh?" atsushi questioned.

"Oh, it's a game we play often" dazai started to explain "the rookie tries to guess his senior colleague's former occupation. well, it's part of their training as private investigators"

atsushi turned to the siblings, thinking. while erity continued to drink her tea while her eyes were closed, although it may look like she wasn't paying attention. she was actually going over everything she remembered and knew about them, coming to the conclusions of what their former occupation was.

students, teacher...

"Tanizaki-san and Naomi-san...where students?" atsushi guessed as they watched him.

"Oh, bingo" tanizaki said, sounding impressed "I'm impressed"

got that one right

"How did you know?" naomi asked.

"I heard you are a part-time worker and thought you might still be a student given by your uniform" atshuhi explained "Tanizaki-san seems close to me in age, so...just a hunch" atsushi smiled as he closed his eyes.

"Honesty is a virtue" dazai smiled before turning to kunikida "What about kunikida-kun?" he asked making kunikida spit out his coffee.

"Who cares about what i used to be?!" kunikda asked, shouting. atsushi looked at him as he thought.

"Public worker?" atsushi wondered as he raised his right pointer finger while closing his eyes "An official?!"

"Close" dazai said but before he could reveal what his occupation was, erity spoke up.

"A teacher" erity spoke, making them turn to her.

"Correct erity-kun" dazai smiled "He was a teacher, a math teacher to be specific"

"Huh..." atsushi trailed off as he thought of kunikida being a teacher.

"I can totally see that" atshuhi deadpanned.

"It's all in the past!" kunikida said "I don't even want to think about it"

"What about me, then?" dazai asked, making atsushi turn to him as erity glanced.

"You, dazai-san?" atsushi questioned.

"Yes, me" dazai smiled, his eyes closed.

"Well..." atsushi though as he placed his hand under his chin "Dazai-san was..." he thoughts kept coming up empty while erity just kept her eyes on dazai who continued to smile.

"Don't bother, brat" kunikida told him as he pushed up his glassed "His former profession is one of the seven mysteries of the Armed Detective Agency"

quite understandable if my conclusion is correct

"The first person to get it right receives a reward, right?" tanizaki asked.

"A reward?!" atsushi asked excited.

"That's right" dazai sighed "No one's been able to guess right, so the reward's just ballooned"

"B-by the way, how much has this reward ballooned to. exactly?" atsushi asked, slightly leaning over the table.

"700.000 yen total" dazai answered.

would he really give 700.000 yen thought, probably not

"Seven hundred grand?!" atshuhi shouted, erity had stood up so that he could go to dazai but also so she could give her now empty cup to the waitress and pay.

"S-so if i get it right, i can claim it?" atsushi asked with a flame in his eyes "For real for reals?!"

"A suicide proponent is true to his word" dazai smirked.

not really, wait. i'm calling myself out now

"Atsushi-kun looks excited" tanizaki commented.

"His admiration is admirable" naomi added, both not looking that impressed. after she payed for her tea, erity turned to look at atsushi and she had to agree with the siblings. he did look quiet hyped.

"Seven hundred grand will be mine!" asthuhi spoke with determination before he listed off every job he could come up with but dazai kept shooting down every one of them.

"it's all random..." taniszaki said "Yeah..." his sister trailed of as he and her watched atsushi with a deadpanned expression.

"Actor!" atsushi guessed again.

"No! but..." dazai trialed of before getting a bashful look "That's flattering"

"I bet you where just wandering around doing nothing" kunikida spoke up as he held his cup.

"Nope" dazai said, sounding normal again. making kunikida turn to him "I would never lie about this"

so if someone guessed correctly, he wouldn't deny it

"Do you yield, atsushi-kun?" dazai asked, making atsushi flinch in surprise "Then you take the check" dazai told him as he brought up the check and showed it to atsushi.

"what?" atsushi whined.

"If you don't have enough on you right now, you can start a tab" dazai explained before tanizaki's phone started to ring "After all, it's the agency's go-to restaurant. the vortex"

that would be handy

"Yes, this is tanizaki" tanizaki spoke as he answered the call "yes, okay. got it" he said before hanging up.

"We have a job?" kunikida asked.

"Yes" tanizaki answered "The clients already at the agency"

"Well, it's time for work" dazai spoke as he got up, everyone else got up to right after.

erity let out a small unnoticed sigh before turning to the waitress that still stood at the bar.

"Excuse me" erity spoke quietly making the waitress turn to her "Could i have a glass of water" erity asked, the waitress gave her a questioning look but smiled and went to fetch what she asked for.

"Let's save the guessing game for another time" dazai said before they started making there way back to the office.

erity had already taking out her wallet which the waitress saw as she turned back to her with the glass off water, she was about the say the price for it when she saw erity also take out the box of aspirin.

the waitress placed down the glass in front of erity, who had taken out an aspirin and placed back the box in her pocket before placing the aspirin in her mouth and drinking it down with the water.

putting down the glass she let out a sigh and turned to the waitress.

"How much is it?" erity asked, holding her wallet.

"It's on the house" the waitress spoke, smiling warmly.

erity nodded and placed her wallet in her pocket before turning and catching up with the other, going back to the office.
