Chapter 6

Nicki was sat under the stars with drake. Recently they had been spending quite a lot of their time together just making the most of it really not wanting to think about how long they really had left together. They were laying on a picnic blanket with all their stuff scattered around them. They were holding hands with their fingers interlocking as they attempted to make out some of the constellations.

Nicki: do you know what this reminds me of

Drake: what ?

Nicki: Hazel and Augustus. You know the part when he says 'My thoughts are stars I can't fathom into constellations'

Drake: oh yeah. I guess we kind of are like Hazel and Augustus. A madly in love teenage couple who are just going to let fate lead them to wherever it decides

She smiled at him. This was one of things she lived about him. Just the fact that he aimed to avoid all negative thoughts and just stick to being positive even though he knew there wasn't going to be a happy ending. They both leaned in and shared a kiss under the stars; a perfect moment for both of them.

Nicki: Okay ?

Drake: Okay.

They both chuckled before looking back at the stars above them.

Carol watched as nicki walked in from another night out with drake b

Carol: how'd it go

Nicki: it was perf. We had a picnic under the moonlight then we just lay there attempting to form the constellations of the stars. It was beautiful

Carol: aww I remember when I was your age enjoying young love

She smiled a little before wiping a stray tear. He chuckled before returning to what she was doing.

Nicki: what happened

Carol: you don't want know all of that

Nicki: yes I do

She took a seat next to her mother and listened intently.

Carol: well it was with your father actually. He was my first love

Nicki was now interested as she had never really been told about her father or why she had never met him.

Carol: we met in about 10th grade when I transferred schools. We clicked almost instantly and became really good friends. Ever since then I had a slight liking towards him and it kind of just escalated from there. I never really told him until he asked me out to dinner. At the dinner he kind of spilled out how he had also had feelings for me. Bare in mind at this point we were now in 11th grade

She chuckled a little as she wiped another tear.

Carol: we decided to try out a relationship and see if the feelings would stay after we finally belonged to each other. And they did. We fell madly in love with each other and would literally talk on the phone for hours, sometime not even talking but just the presence of each other.

She let out another chuckle; reminiscing on the moments.

Carol: then one night we decided we wanted to take it to the next level and that's how I became pregnant with you. It took a couple of months before I actually realised. The day after I found out I went and told him and surprisingly he was over moon just like I was. I had told him while I we were out at lunch. So he drove me back home and we did the whole 'i love you' and 'I'll see you tomorrow' then on his way to his aunts house he got in an accident.

She started tearing up at this point.

Carol: a hit and run that took his life

Nicki was now crying herself. The fact that she had never understood why her father wasn't a part of her life then all of a sudden it was all explained to her.

Carol: it wasn't expected by anyone and took everyone by surprise. I couldn't believe it when I received the phone call. I felt like joining him.

She wiped away her tears as nicki did the same.

Carol: the pain was unbearable. I was heart broken but I had to go on. I had to raise you the best I could. Make him proud of you and the beautiful girl you are today.

They both chuckled.

Nicki: is that why you're so protective of me

Carol nodded.

Nicki: why didn't you tell me all this time.

Carol: I don't know I just didn't want to upset you really.

Nicki pulled her into and embrace as she just cried.

Carol: and now I'm about to the most important person in my life again. It's like I wasn't meant to be happy. Everything that makes me happy just ends up being take from me

Nicki cried with her mother knowing that the time she had left was going to be a rough time for her mother. Not only did she think about her mother, but drake. The same heart break her mother had gone through with her father was exactly what nicki was going to put drake through and it really broke her own heart knowing that this is how he was going to feel when she was gone.

Nicki: Don't let yourself think of the bad things. Just remember the happy moments you had and with me the ones still yet to come.

She let out a weak smile as she looked at her daughter. They just sat on the couch and cried together.

Drake had just finished his day at college when he found nicki stood there waiting for him while on her phone. She looked up and smiled at him once she noticed that he was looking at her. She walked over to him and gave her a hug of which he accepted

Drake: hello beautiful

Nicki: hey handsome. How was college

Drake: not too bad. Got loads of homework tho

Nicki: aww, poor Aubrey

They both laughed.

Drake: so what brought you here

Nicki: just wanted to see you I guess

Drake: well aren't you a cutie

Nicki: indeed I am.

Drake: talking about you that reminds me. I have a surprise for you.

Nicki: you do

Drake: I do

Nicki: can I see it

Drake: not right now. Come on you can see it in a bit

He took her hand as they headed off to his car.

Nicki: you know I hate surprises brey

Drake: I promise you're gonna live this one

Nicki: as much as I love you

Drake: maybe not that much

They both chuckled as he leaned down and kissed her. She accepted and they shared a kiss in the car park.

Drake: I love you

Nicki: I love you more

Drake: we're not about to have this argument.

Nicki: yes we are

Drake: well then I love you more

Nicki: how much more

Drake: more than you will ever be able to master

She chuckled again and this time she leaned in and gave him a kiss. She pulled away before whispering against his lips.

Nicki: I still love you more

They both laughed before getting in the car and driving off.

Nicki and drake were now sat in a field; one that was about an hour away from where they lived. It meant they would get more time together when they wanted to go home.

Nicki: so this surprise

Drake: right. So you know you're list that you made and said you wanted to complete as much as you could

She nodded.

Drake: well ...

He reached into his bag and pulled out their two tickets for London.

Drake: thought I'd help you out

Her face lit up as soon as she realised what it was.

Nicki: omg when ?!

Drake: I bought a them the night we made your list.

Nicki: and you didn't tell me

Drake: thought id surprise you

She pulled him into a tight embrace before placing kisses all over his face. He just laughed at how happy she was.

Nicki: thank you thank you thank you

Drake: haha. No need to thank me babe

Nicki: when are we leaving

Drake: 2 weeks

Nicki: how long are we there for

Drake: a week

Nicki: omg!! I'm actually so excited I can't explain

Drake: so am I

He pulled her onto his lap as she leaned in and kissed him. He accepted and just let his hands rest on her waist.

Nicki: I love you

Drake: I love you too

She let her hands play with him curls and he smiled at her.

Drake: so what do you want to do in London

Nicki: I wanna go on the London eye. I've heard the view from there is amazing. Also I wanna take a boat ride down the river Thames and I just wanna take in the culture really. Pick up one of the accents.

Drake: you have a week to pick an accent

Nicki: I can do it

Drake: I wanna see you try

Nicki: bring it on playboy

They both laughed before sharing another kiss. They pulled away and he laid his head on her chest with his arms around her waist as she wrapped hers around his neck.

Nicki: I love you

Drake: you too baby girl.
