"The UN dispatched a Doctor Theo Broussard from Geneva.." Tony shows you the pictures.. As Friday let's you in on the informations she's gathered.

"But he never made it, he was met by this man"

"Did you run facial recognition yet?" Tony asks.

"What do I look like" Friday sighs, as she zooms in on the man.. that was definitely him. You recognized him from the surveillance videos.

"Uhh.. I don't know.. I've been picturing you as a redhead" Tony jokes.

"The fake doctor is actually colonel Helmut Zemo, born and raised in sokovia." She explains further.

Tony sighs heavily as you look at you..

"Sokovia as in?"

"As in the city we destroyed yes..." he scoffs.

"Friday what happened to the real doctor?" You ask.

"He was found dead in a Berlin hotel room.. he was murdered" she informs you. "Where the police also found face and hair prosthetics approximating the appreances of one James Buchanan Barnes"

And now all the pieces fell right into place...Steve was right, Barnes is innocent.. it was a terrible master plan planned out by Zemo. He wanted you all to believe it was Bucky. To tear your apart from the inside. It was a brilliant plan, and it had worked out perfectly.

"We need to show this to secretary Ross.. now" you say.

Tony takes a deep breath.. "send this to Ross.."

"Yes boss"

You sit in silence looking at the blurred image of Zemo..

"I know what you're thinking-"

"Really is this another one of your new found tricks.." Tony hisses at you.

"No.. I just know that look on your face. And Tony it is not your fault okay. We were tricked.. you couldn't possibly have known" you say comforting him.

"You did" he sighs.

"I didn't know it wasn't him.. I just really badly wanted to believe that the Barnes I met all those years ago, wasn't behind this"

"Let's just get to Rogers.. and try to help them out..." Tony says.

"Just remember Tony, we're going as his friends okay?"

Tony nods his head.

It's a long flight, but at least you're in good company . And although Tony is slightly mad at you, he's beginning to understand why you did what you did. It wasn't to betray him, it was to just to do the right thing. After a couple of hours you finally land in Siberia, a few miles from the location. You couldn't risk letting anyone see you arrive.

You suit up inside the plane, as you walk through a snow blizzard, trying to get to the underground facility.. Tony forces the gate open. And there they were pointing their guns at you. With a surprised look on their faces.

Steve slowly walks towards you, still holding his shield as a way to protects himself.

"It's okay.. we're here to help" you smile softly.

"You seem a bit defensive" Tony scoff, removing his head piece.

"Well it's been a long day" Steve says.

"At ease, soldier I'm not currently after you" Tony calls out to Bucky who's sitting at the top of the stairs. With a gun pointed to him.

"Then why are you here?" Steve grunts.

"We know Steve.. and we've finally got the proof we need to Free Buckys name, and arrest Zemo" you explain.

"Ross has no idea we're here, and I'd like to keep it that way.. y/n is already on the top ten most wanted list in the nation.." Tony scoffs.

Steve finally lowers his shield, nodding his head to Bucky, letting him know you're okay.

"I'm glad you're here... both of you" Steve smiles.

"You too cap" Tony smiles back.

"I'm sorry it took us so long" you sigh.

Tony looks up at Barnes who's still got a gun pointed at him. "Hey, Manchurian Candidate, you're killing me here.. there's a truce here you can drop the gun" Tony scoffs jokingly.

Steve gestures for him that it's okay, and finally he puts down the gun.

"Alright then Captain.. after you" you smile.

Steve leads the way slowly through the facility. There's freakishly silent here. You could hear hairpin drop on the floor. It's been abandoned for years now. Tony uses his suit to light up the way, like a flashlight.

"I've got heat signatures in this room" Tony states.

"How many?" Steve asks.

"... just one" he says

The room you walk into is almost pitch black, if it wasn't for the small lights in the ceiling you wouldn't be able to see a thing. It's the vision of a nightmare. As soon as you step in something powers up. And six capsules lights a bright yellow. You can't really make out what's inside of them, but it looks like something from a horror movie. You slowly take a few more steps looking around.

"What is this place?" You asks, you have chills running down your body, like something terrible is about to happen.

"It's where they wiped our minds" Bucky says softly.

"God it's creepy" you scoff.. "wait is that dead people" you ask, as you get a closer look one of the capsules..

"If it's any comfort, they died in their sleep" Zemo's voice echoes through the speakers.

You go even closer as you see the bullet holes in the glass.. he shot them.. right in the head.. all of them like they were just toys.

"You really thought I wanted more of you?" Zemo grins darkly. You grab a hold of you gun, just in case.

"I'm grateful to them though, they brought you here.. " he says.

Suddenly a light turns on behind you.. and there he is. Steve throws his shield against the glass spectating you, but it bounces right back to him. He's been watching you.

"Please Captain.. the soviets build this chamber to withstand the launch blast of a UR-100 rocket." He chuckles satisfied.

"I'm betting I could beat that!" Tony hisses.

"Oh I'm sure you could Mr stark, given time. But then you'd never know why you came" he says. "I don't think I've met this one yet.. is she a new one?" Zemo asks looking right into your eyes.

"New one how adorable.." you hiss. "I was walking this earth before you even learned to walk"

"How feisty.. I see why you all like her so much.. y/n idunndottir" he growls.

"You killed innocent People just to bring us here.. why?" Steve growls, as he walks up to the glass, only a few inches between him and zemo.

"I've thought about nothing else for over a year.. I studied you.. all of you. But now that you're standing here. I just realized, there's a bit of green in the blue of your eyes" zemo chuckles. "So you do have a flaw.. I found one with everyone else." He smirks. "Y/n has killed over a thousand men in her time, with little to no regret.."

You stomach turns as he says those words.. no regrets. It was enough to keep you up for days on end just thinking about it.

"Tony has perhaps even more deaths on his hands.."

"That's enough" you yell. "We're not here to get analyzed by you..we know you're upset because of sokovia-"

"Sokovia.. oh no. Sokovia was a failed state, long before your friends blew it to hell." He admits. "I'm here because I made a promise.." he growls.

"You lost someone didn't you?" You ask, as you walk up beside Steve. "That's why.. you want revenge" you say softly.

"I knew you were the clever one.." he chuckles. But suddenly his tone shifts.. as he looks you dead in the eyes. "I lost everyone" he chokes out. "And now so will you"

"It's not gonna bring them back.." you remind him.. "killing us.. it won't change what happened"

"Let's see if you still agree when it's someone you loved" Zemo grins. Then he turns on a screen beside you.

16 December 1991

You turn back to look at Tony.. you'd never forget that date.. it was carved into the back of your mind. Never allowing you to move on.

"An empire toppled by its enemies can rise again.. but one that crumbles from within is dead forver" he says. "I'm not going to kill you.. you're gonna do that yourself" he chuckles.

Tony walks up to you, as you shift your gaze between him and the screen.

"I know that road" Tony says. "What is this?" Tony calls out questioningly.

"Tony.." you whimper.

On the screen there's nothing but an empty road, until a car crashes against a tree. You and Tony watches the screen intensely. When a motorcycle stops behind the car. And a man jumps down. You feel the pressure grow stronger on your chest.. you know exactly what you're about to see.. and yet you just can't take your eyes away from the screen.

A man crawls out of the car, it's horrible quality. But there's no doubt it's Howard. You could recognize those eyes everywhere.. when a man grabs a hold of his head, at first you don't pay much attention to the man.. until you see the arm.. made of metal. You look over at Barnes, who's eyes are locked at the ground. Once you look back you can hear Howard's voice loud and clear sergeant Barnes?" There's so much fear in his voice. Tony looks up from the screen, with anger in his eyes. You grab a hold of his hand as you both turn your eyes back to the screen. Watching how Barnes slams his metal fist against Howard's face over.. and over... and over..You can hear Maria calling out his name.. it's the worst thing you've ever seen.. the murder of your best friend.. Barnes drops Howard's lifeless body on the ground, before reaching down and placing him back in the car. He walks around the car, grabbing around Marias throat and chocking the life out of her.

You cover your mouth to muffle out the small screams coming from you. As you turn to look at Steve. He closes his eyes unable to look at you..

Then for the first time you see his face clearly, as he walks up to the camera and shoots it. There was no doubt anymore.. Bucky killed Howard and his wife.. brutally and without mercy.. and however much you wanted to remember that he was being brainwashed.. all you see is red..

Tony flinches, as he makes his way towards Bucky. While you stand completely frozen in shock.

"No, Tony" Steve says softly..

Tony removes Steve's hand from him. As he clenches his jaw unable to say a word.

"Did you know?" You finally break the silence, as you look up at Steve, with blank cold eyes.

"I didn't know it was him" steve assure you, trying to reach out his hand to touch you.

Quickly Tony steps in front of you. "Don't bullshit her Rogers did you know" Tony growls.

Steve's gaze shits between the Two of you.. before looking back at Tony. "Yes" he admits.

Tony backs away, as he looks around the room.

"How long?" You ask softly.

But Steve doesn't answer you.

"How long Steve!" You yell at him.

"It was in his file" Steve sighs.

You back away from him slowly."You've known for almost three years.. and you didn't tell me!" You yell. "I helped you look for him.. I stood up for you.. I'm on the run again! All because I wanted to help you!" You hiss. As you slap him across the face. "You knew how much he meant to me.. you knew"

"Y/n-"

"Don't" you hiss. "You don't get to justify this Rogers.. after everything I've done for you" you sigh.

Suddenly you hear a loud crash as tony sends both Steve and Bucky flying through the room. As he starts beating Bucky without holding back. You're still standing completely frozen not sure what to do with yourself. Steve throws his shield against him, knocking Tony away from him.

You scream in anger, as you run up, using the walls to jump on top Steve's back, using your elbow to get him down on the ground. While Bucky and Tony fights. You can feel Steve Holding back. Like he doesn't want to hurt you. But there's no amount of physical damage he could do to you, that would be worse than what he had done.

Tony accidentally hits a column causing some metal to crash down onto you. You groan out in pain as your leg gets stuck underneath. But instead of helping you out Steve rushes to Buckys side helping him away from Tony's grip..

"Get out of here now buck" Steve yells.

As you slowly cry out in pain, over the piece of metal sticking into your leg. You could feel the blood oozing out from the open wound.

"Tony" you cry out. He notices you're stuck and quickly flies to your side lifting up the pieces of metal laying on top of you. Giving Steve and Barnes a good head start. "I'll be okay.. go after them" you groan. As you legs slowly starts to heal. But it'll take a few minutes before you'll be able to walk.

"It wasn't him.. okay." Steve yells. Blocking his way. "HYDRA had control of his mind.. you have to understand"

"You knew" you yell. As you point you taser at him, making him fall to his knees. "You were my friend.. I trusted you" you whimper.. "we trusted you"

they're gone.. you look down at the wound, noticing it's healed, but your leg is severely crushed. Just moving causes you to scream in pain. You can't move.. you can just sit here alone. You hear their muffled groans as they fight beneath you.. they've taken quite the fall. You try to crawl down towards them. If you're going to reach them you'll have to fall.

You tear of a piece of your sleeve, biting hardly down on it before rolling down onto the hard concrete.You look up at Steve who's standing before you.

"You could have told me" you moan in pain.

"I know" he admits sadly. "But fighting isn't going to change what happened"

"I don't care.." Tony scoffs.. "he killed my mom" he groans as he attacks Steve.

You want to stop them.. you know fighting and killing each other won't change a thing. You force yourself to stand up. But with each step you take you feel you knees give up beneath you.

Tony, Bucky and Steve throws fist against one another. You cling onto Steve holding him down with all your force. As Tony slams Buckys head into the ground. Until he's unconscious. Ripping off his metal arm throwing it away.

"Y/n I don't want to hurt you" Steve whispers.

"It's a little to late for that know Rogers" you hiss.

Steve breaks free from your grip, sending your flying into the concrete wall. You lie frozen on the ground, your body paralyzed from the pain and your betrayal.

You watch as Steve beats Tony over and over again, both with his shield and bare fists. And there's nothing you can do but watch. "Stop" you whimper. But almost no sound comes out. It's hopeless.

"He's my friend Tony" Steve says with shortness of breath.

"So were we" Tony growls. As he pushes Steve off him. Throwing him across the room into the wall. "Stay down.. final warning" Tony growls.

Steve grabs him and throws him to the ground in one swift motion. Getting on top of him. Knocking him in the face till his mask comes off.. the fear and sadness in Tony's face, causes you to finally bring together the last of your power to crawl towards him. As you watch Steve Stab his shield into his arc reactor over and over till it shuts off. You push Steve off from him, you cover Tony's body, making sure he can't harm him.

Tony gasps for his breath as you reach out your hand holding his.

"I am sorry" Steve says.

"No you're not" you cry out Softly. As you look up at him. "You're just sorry we found out"

Steve grabs his shield. Lifting up Bucky from the ground. As he takes one final look at you and Tony. Lying helpless, on the ground.

"I hate you" you scream, you've never felt so betrayed in your whole life. "Youre not half the man Howard through you were.... That I though-"You choke out "he spent all his life searching for you, and this is how you repay him.. I don't know even know who you are"

Tony's grabs you, holding you down. Just like Howard once had done..

"You don't deserve that shield!" Tony yells. "My father made that shield for you.." he cries out. Steve throws the shield to the ground. before leaving with Bucky around his arm.

Tony groans in pain as he tries to sit up. You're drifting in and out of consciousness. Never before have you felt any pain like this before. Tony lifts you up into his arms. Holding you tightly.

"Friday call the ambulance" Tony groans. As he spits out the blood in his mouth. He looks down at you, removing a strand of hair from your face. Trying to remove some of the blood from your face. "I've got you.. don't worry y/n.. I've got you" he whispers. As you fall asleep in his arms.
