Seems familiar?
Yes, its not used the same way here.
Also this is straight from Narutopedia : In Itachi Shinden: Book of Dark Night, Itachi theorizes that victims can regain consciousness by using love and willpower to mend their spirits.

"Kisame. Move or die." She whispered under her breath, the voice reaching him perfectly and he gulped harshly.
"Bring it on, kid."
She disappeared and Kisame vaguely felt the KI spike up behind him as he raised his hand to protect his head from being kicked off, wincing at the use of chakra which made it all the more powerful.
Landing on the ground, she bent on her left knee and used her right leg to try and sweep him off his feet. Jumping up, Kisame used his sword and raised it above him to bring it down on her.
A wave of heat traveled towards Kisame in mid air and he turned around, his eyes slightly widened to use Samehada to absorb the flame thrown in his direction. It was hot, but not as hot as Itachi's.
However, he was still at a major disadvantage since he was a water style user.
Kisame did hand signs and countered another one of Akina's flames, the heat growing stronger. Turning around, Akina narrowly dodged Samehada biting her as she narrowed her eyes at the bunshin making a clone herself.
Her rinnegan wasn't activated anymore. Akina was angry, furious even, but she was using her mind. If worst comes to worst, she'd have to use her rinnegan for Itachi and she couldn't waste it on Kisame even though it'd be a much faster way to get rid of him.
In the distance, Tobi glanced at the battle of the Uchihas, whistling at the blows against the brothers. Pain and Konan stood silently by his side, watching the match. Deidara was watching the match as well, wondering where everyone else was.
He was enjoying the match.
If only he had a cup of coffee and a bucket of popcorn to enjoy it. He despised Itachi, and even though he wanted to defeat the bastard, he figured he'd defeat the little brother instead if he didn't respect his art.
From the corner of his eyes, he glanced at the motionless Tobi. He knew it.
As soon as their mission was coming to an end, he was acting more... normal unlike a man child. But he didn't question anything.
Not yet.
He'd wait and observe everyone. While he was proud, rash and impulsive, Deidara valued his own life.
"Oh? Is that another battle I see?" Tobi craned his head towards the other direction in the forest as a crackling of lightening was heard with the sounds of swords clashing against one another.
He let out a deep chuckle before speaking. "My, my, looks like Kisame and Akina-chan are on the verge of killing each other. I can already see some specks of blood from here. Boy, I'm confused now. Which battle do I focus on?"
Deidara turned his head to the side.
Why are they fighting? Aren't they like, Icha Icha buddies?
So much had transpired in only a month and he was curious to know what was going on. Akina and Kisame were pretty laid back with each other so what changed. Sending chakra to his eyes, he glanced as Akina wielded-
When and how the fuck did she get a sword?!
-against Samehada. Her speed was increasing and so was Kisame's as they indulged in a taijutsu battle. Kisame kicked her in stomach and she went skidding back. With a snarl-
Deidara choked on his spit as a large amount of chakra was felt and his eyes bugged out as a large chakra monster shield thingy appeared in the Uchiha battle.
What the fuck is that?
IS THAT A WHITE SNAKE?!
"That is the susano'o. And Orochimaru's mark is acting up, hm." Tobi answered Deidara's unasked question, as he spoke about the mangekyo sharingan and blah blah. He talked about the Uchihas in a proud yet oddly.. spiteful manner. Like he hated them.
And then another wave of chakra hit him from the other side from Akina and Kisame's battle. Pain looked at Tobi. "Her rinnegan.. its been activated Madara."
Mada.. ra? As in Madara Uchiha?!
All Deidara felt was confusion and he could relate to Tobi's problem. He was confused as to which battle to focus on.
He decided to focus on Akina's battle as did Tobi and placed chakra in his eyes.
Her eyes were purple... like Leader's..
With a swish of her hand, she floated into the air and raised her palm towards Kisame, speaking unknown words. Kisame went flying somewhere else as she sent waves of chakra all over. The forest was aflame with black colored flames and Deidara knew it was called Amaterasu.
"I knew I chose the right match to watch. Zetsu is recording the Uchiha battle." Madara spoke with a hum and turned to stare at Deidara who was watching Akina walk towards a tied up Kisame with her sword pointed towards him.
Don't.. He's your friend.
Deidara wasn't sure what she was going to do. She was furious, had glowing purple eyes and somehow pushed him away and made the tree roots capture him in place, to the extent where even Samehada was taken away from his hands and a broken yet sharp piece of wood was dangerously close to his crotch.
Yeah, Kisame literally couldn't move.
Deidara remembered how Hidan spoke about the crazed look in her eyes as she stabbed a Konoha nin to death. His name was Asuma, right?
The way he spoke about how her blood lust turned him on, he could assume that Akina was being controlled by that very emotion.
He chanted to himself in his mind, hoping Akina wouldn't stab him.
Don't do it. He's your friend.
You told me he reminds you of your sensei in Konoha.
Don't fucking do it. You'll regret it.
He took a step forward only to pause as Tobi laid a hand on his shoulders and whispered lowly. "Don't interfere, Deidara."
Deidara stiffened and turned around to glare at him with a murderous look, his fists clenched tightly. He hated anyone telling him what to do. And if its fucking Tobi, that just made it 10 times worse.
He whirled to face Konan and Pain instead. "Why the hell aren't you guys doing anything, un?! Akina is your pupil and Kisame is a damn Swordsman. She'll kill him!"
"As of now, we need only a few members for everything to work. Out of Akina and Kisame, whoever is more capable will join the Akatsuki. The same can be said for Uchiha Sasuke and Uchiha Itachi." Konan spoke softly as Pain closed his eyes and Tobi turned away to watch things unfold.
Her bright orange eyes were glittering with worry and Deidara blinked.
"Only selected members will join us, whereas the rest.." She trailed off and looked away as the blonde bomber understood.
Select few members...
That meant Tobi, Pain, Konan, Zetsu, Rou and two more. And me.
As soon as he'd reached the base, he'd heard of Hidan and Kakuzu's death. Actually, the latter was missing but presumably dead.
Few people... but eight was a crowd wasn't it?
They wouldn't.. dispose of him would they?
Deidara turned away and closed his eyes as Akina brought her sword down.
Akina panted heavily, as her rinnegan faded and she stumbled against a tree. Her taijutsu was no match for Kisame, and neither was her kenjutsu.
The only place she had him beat were in ninjutsu and her kekkei genkais. So that's what she used.
"Fuck fuck fuck no!" Cursing violently, she stared up at Itachi's orange susano'o as it grew weaker. Orochimaru's snake thingy was gone thanks to the Totsuka Blade. She had no idea how Sasuke had gotten it, but Itachi knew how do remove it. He knew everything.
She needed her rinnegan. Again.
Activating it, she used the chakra to make her hover before floating above the levels of the tree canopy and heading towards the battle. She saw Itachi coughing out blood and staggering back to his feet. The armour of the susano'o was gone and all that remained was the body.
Grabbing a kunai tagged with a bomb, Sasuke flung it towards Itachi. It had no effect whatsoever and Akina hurried there.
She had only a third of her original chakra left and she couldn't use it for rinne rebirth unless she manifested the Path which she swore never to do. Manifesting the paths ruins your like and makes you sick all the time. She'd be living through her puppets.
Just like Nagato.
Sasuke stumbled and walked back as Itachi walked forward, his eyes never leaving his brother's. Akina choked a sob, the panic hitting her hard and she screamed.
"YAMETE!"
The sudden scream made the brother's pause for a second, their eyes flickering towards her flying towards them. Itachi raised his hand towards Sasuke.
"They are my eyes." He said weakly. Grabbing his sword, Sasuke jumped up and tried to impale it into the susano'o but went flying back, crashing against a wall. Sasuke shivered as Itachi took another step. He was painfully close to him and his susano'o was still going strong.
It was the ultimate defense.
And he was powerless against it.
Akina landed between the two, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears as heavy breaths left her body. She was littered with scars and wounds. But a particularly big gash was there in her right arm as she held on to it tightly.
It was almost as if flesh had been bitten out.
"Stop it Itachi!" She screamed and activated her rinnegan once more, ready to defend Sasuke. Even if it meant hurting him more.
"Akina.. run.. he'll kill you too." Sasuke leaned back against the Uchiha wall panting heavily but a glare still decorated his face.
"No." She spoke fiercely and placed her hands against the chakra shield as she began absorbing it all. There wasn't much left really and she let it enter her body instead of letting it go in nature.
Itachi took a few steps towards her and saw her crying eyes. "Move Akina."
She shook her head, grabbing his shoulders to shake him. "TELL SASUKE THE TRUTH! I CAN'T SEE YOU GUYS LIKE THIS!"
"Tell me.. what?" Sasuke took a few steps towards the duo, grabbing a kunai. Itachi's guard was lowered and this was the perfect opportunity.
"Akina," Itachi activated his mangekyo as another stream of blood exited his eyes and she glanced up, making a fatal mistake.
"AKINA DON'T LOOK UP!" Sasuke's scream echoed in the suddenly silent atmosphere as her onyx black eyes went blank and she fell on her knees, subsequently on the ground. Itachi knelt down and opened her eyelids.
"Such beautiful eyes.. Maybe I'll take these as well." He pressed on his brother's weak spot and just like he predicted, Sasuke snapped.
"LEAVE HER THE FUCK ALONE!"
A kunai embedded itself in his arm and he coughed out blood once more.
"ITACHI DON'T!" Akina screamed as she struggled against his restrains. She was tied to a cross as he stood in front of her with sword. Everything was black and white, save the red sky and moon.
"You shouldn't interfere with my plans." He spoke coldly and she hung her head down.
"Fuck you. You roped Kisame into this.. and because of you I'm going to be alone again!"
"You won't be alone." He took a step towards her heaving figure.
"I will.. because all I want is you to stay by my side. No one understands me like you do."
He sneered at her. "How pathetic. I only used you for your ability to see the future. I needed to know is Sasuke killed me and once you confirmed it, I continued using you to make sure no one interferes. Unfortunately, Kisame couldn't handle you like I thought he could."
Akina snarled. "Don't be pulling this fake ass bullshit on me Itachi Uchiha! I know you."
Suddenly, there were hundreds of him everywhere. "You know me, hm? Lets see how you stand 72 hours of physical torture in this world."
Her gaze wavered. "You wouldn't."
The first one walked forward and stabbed her thigh as she let out a guttural shriek in pain.
"Do you believe me now?"
She whimpered. "N-no.. Fuck you 'Tachi.. What about all the moments we had?"
He placed his finger underneath her chin to make eye contact with her. His eyes were wavering with pain and he whispered. "Don't make this harder than it already is."
"Just tell Sasuke the truth. I beg you. Why are you so hard on yourself?"
He stepped back as another sword impaled itself in the palm of her hand and she held in her scream, biting her lip hard as blood leaked out.
"Then so be it. 71 hours, 59 minuted and 50 seconds left."
"You underestimate me and my rinnegan, Itachi! I LO-" She bit back her words as another sword made its way into her stomach.
Itachi took the kunai out with a grimace and stepped over Akina's pale body, heading for Sasuke instead. Sasuke backed up against a wall and shivered in fear as Itachi smiled and reached for him.
His two fingers poked Sasuke's forehead and he smiled, the blood racing down the corner of his lips.
"Sorry Sasuke. There won't be a next time."
The blood on his fingertips left a trail from his forehead to his chin as his brother stared at him in utter shock. Leaning forward, Itachi fell against the wall and then slid to the ground.
Sasuke breathed heavily, free from the anxiety that his brother was dead.
In the lone wall of the Uchiha hideout where the emblem was painted, surrounded by nothing but rubble, the lone Uchiha was left.
Zetsu stared in shock. "He went down?! No way.. He's actually dead?"
The dark clouds hovering over them released its rain, the cool soothing effects doing nothing against the Amaterasu flames.
"Sasuke won? Something doesn't feel right. And what truth was Akina talking about? Tch, that girl can't even break out of a genjutsu."
The said girl's eyes fluttered open. Her 72 hours were completely up and it took a while for her to break free. Her limbs weren't functioning properly and with heavy lidded eyes and a terrible hazy vision, she saw a figure standing and another down on the ground.
"No.." She whispered lowly, and her fingers twitched.
Sasuke's dull eyes glanced towards her as he slid down, relieved that she was alive. "Akina."
He took her name before fainting down, the chakra exhaustion finally catching up to him.
"Well, would you look at that. She broke out of Itachi's tsukuyomi as well. Man.. are they monsters or something? Lets go and inform Madara kekeke."
"I-Itachi no." She whispered hoarsely, and with great difficulty she used her left hand to move towards him. Her right hand was completely broken, a gash of flesh had been taken out and her ribs were broken. Not to mention the mental torture she received.
Struggling against the rough concrete, she dragged herself towards him and held his blood stained face as sobs exited her body and a hole was created in her heart. Akina's heart was crushed, her hope destroyed.
All that planning.. for nothing.
He's dead and I couldn't do anything.
I'm useless.
Her sobs turned more and more violent by the second as his death hit her hard and her chest contracted painfully. "Wake up Itachi! You can't leave me alone you- you selfish prick!"
Her breathing was labored and blood exited her mouth as she felt one of her ribs impale something inside. The pain increased even more and she clutched her chest, as she coughed out blood uncontrollably.
At least we'll die together.
Her vision began to dim from all angles as footsteps reached her and the hair covering her eyes were moved to the side by a gloved hand.
"Oh, looks like Kisame did a number on you didn't he? And it seems like Itachi did as well." A deep voice rumbled and Akina's eyes drifted towards Itachi's pale face. Reaching for his hand, she grabbed his tightly with all her strength.
I can't let go. I won't let go.
"Let go."
Deidara pushed Tobi away and gently picked Akina up, with a worried glance. "You're gonna be okay, un."
As he whispered words of reassurance into her, her vision went black from the pain and heartbreak, the empty void growing larger and larger.
Rou bit his lip, taking in all the destruction from around him. He was at a distance from the wreckage and no one knew he was here.
"Well I'll be damned. These Uchihas are monsters."
He blinked his blue eyes suddenly staring at the man with red hair appearing before him. "Um, who are you?"
The masked man smiled under his mask, thinking of a suitable reply to say.
"You can say I'm Akina's.. friend."
"Friend, yeah right. And I'm Hashirama Senju." He mumbled under his breath and within a second the masked man disappeared.
He'd have to tell Leader about this.
"Asuma," Sakura bit her lip harshly as a bad feeling erupted inside her.
"Hm?" He looked up from his food.
"I.. I think something's happened."
"What?"
She released the grip on her fork, the nerves in her stomach bubbling up. "The story Akina was telling about a ninja, the one who murders everyone for the village?"
"Yeah?"
"Its Uchiha Itachi, isn't it?"
He stared at her for a few seconds before looking down at his food. "I can't confirm or deny it. I don't know the truth."
"But if it is the truth and she knew it.. Sasuke will be super pissed off."
He shrugged. "I suppose so. Should we continue training?"
Sakura shot a fleeting glance towards the main door, hoping someone would walk through it and reassure her doubts. "Yeah.. lets go train. But I have a question."
"What now?"
"Who hurts more? The one who leaves or the one who is left alone?"
Ngl, I cried.
And Imma just leave y'all in a cliffhanger for a while.
Yeah.
Is Kisame dead?
What about the masked man?
How will Akina proceed now that she's horribly injured? Can she save Jiraiya who dies soon?
;)
Will Itachi be back?
Honestly, I don't want to bring him back. I mean, my fangirl heart is screaming 'BRING HIM BACK!' whereas my author heart is screeching 'LEAVE HIM DEAD!'
Yeah... its troublesome.
Hehehe!
So.. I just realized I have to write so many chapters more. This book is going to go well over 90 chapters at least! I haven't even touched the parent arc because not a lot of you guys wanted to read that. So I'll include it later instead like.. a mini Gaiden.
Then I also have to write about some other shit I won't tell. Basically, a LOT is left.
