Chapter 52 - Night Before

Relaxing The Rolling Stones songs, a blanket, and Alex was all that I needed to get into a state of tranquil. We had no school for a week due to senior perks and now, it left us to do absolutely nothing. His apartment was dead, besides from our breathing and barely clothed bodies.

I was left in my panties and a tank top, along with black knee high socks. Alex, on the other hand, was dressed in boxer-briefs and a plain white t-shirt.

In one point in the day, we had a dance marathon to some of the classic rock n' roll songs in slippery socks in the living room. We moved the coffee table to the side, and there we went crazy to Elvis Presley, Queen, and many more.

However, now we're settled down. Alex was cooking again in the kitchen. He was starting to take a liking to cooking for some strange reason, but I wasn't going to bother with questioning it, only because I enjoyed the food I didn't need to work for.

"Baby," I whined from the couch. "When's dinner going to be ready?"    "Never if you continue to whine like that," he called from the kitchen. I could practically feel his eyes on me and see the smirk on his face without even looking.      I rolled my eyes with a chuckle. Annoying Alex had been a recent hobby of mine that I received enjoyment from. He was easy to tease and his reactions were the best.     Eventually, Alex appeared with two plates in hand. Handing me one of them, he sat on the opposite of the couch underneath our blanket and tangled our legs together.       He cooked mashed potatoes, green beans, and chicken. I had to admit, it did look good, and once I took a bite, it tasted more than what it looked. The juicy chicken was mouthwatering and delicious.    "Is it good?" Alex questioned.

I took another bite. "Very,"      After a few minutes of quietness and enjoying our supper, Alex spoke up again. "How do you feel about graduating tomorrow?"        I groaned loudly. It was a topic I had been trying to avoid. Thinking about it made me nauseous. It was frightening to know I was officially an eighteen year old and a graduate. It had taken 14 years of my life, including when I got held back, to finally be free from school. Now I had to decide whether I should get a degree or do something else. Alex already had his plan and I didn't.

"Earth to angel?" Alex grabbed my attention.

"Oh sorry," I rubbed my eyes, realizing I forgot to respond to his inquiry.

"So?" he pushed further onto his previous question.

I shrugged and played with my food with my fork. "I don't know, Lex." I said. "There's so much to think about."

   "Understandable." he simple said.

We finished the rest of our food and washed the dishes in the sink together. Alex dried them with a cloth while I  cleaned them in the soapy water before handing them to him. He had gotten behind on doing them, causing the stack to take an hour of our night.

"You missed a spot," Alex jokingly teased, pointing at the cup I had in my hands.

"Oh really?" I chuckled. I cupped my hand in the water, and splashed it towards him, causing the liquid to soak his shirt and a gasp fleeing from his mouth. "Now, you've missed a spot."

Alex left his mouth ajar, baffled by my snarky attitude. "Game. On."

In a quick motion, water was squirted onto my face. The wet dirty liquid dripped down to my shirt. My first reaction was grabbing the cup I had, dipping it into the sink, filling it with water.

"Don't you dare!" Alex raised his finger, slowly moving backwards with each step.

"How come, Alex? I thought it was game on?" I took two steps forward, my eyes determined to get him soaked.

His back hit the counter, making him cornered and nowhere to go. I slowly got closer to him with a smirk visible on my face. With the cup filled in my hand, my wrist flung, the water flew into the air, hitting Alex’s body.

His eyes screwed shut, his muscles tensed from my actions. I stood there chuckling at the sight. His brown hair was now a black mop of trickling water.

In the midst of laughing my ass off, a strong arm pulled me in. My back hitting his chest, he lifted me up from the ground.

   “Alex!” I squealed.

He took off running, with still having me on his side and up off the ground. “Put me down!” I tried to sound serious, but my laughter ruined it.

He carried into the bathroom and sat me down on the sink, giving my lips a short peck, however I didn’t respond at all. I sat there with my arms crossed and my lips into a pout with my eyebrows lowered. His arms lingered around my hips as he tried to contain his smile.

“Don’t give me that look, you started it anyway.” He concluded.

“Me?” I pointed my finger at my chest.

Alex walked towards the shower, turning it on and testing the water after a few minutes. “Hello?” I nagged, still waiting for his comeback that he might have stored in his head.

He turned around, facing me and put his hands on the hem of my long shirt. “Lift your arms up.” he breathed.

I rolled my eyes and obligated, lifting them up into the air. My shirt was slipped off of me with help from him. My body exposed as he slid my panties off my legs slowly along with my knee socks. His fingertips were like fire on my skin as they skid across lightly. It took everything in my will power not to moan, my teeth sinking into my lips to seal it.

Now it was my turn. I pulled his shirt off of him after I got off of the sink. My hands worked towards his boxer-briefs, causing them to pool around his ankles. His hand grasped mine, guiding me into the steamed-filled shower.

The hot water hit my body immediately, washing way all the dirty liquid I had thrown onto me previously. Alex stayed behind me, pouring shampoo in his hand, and then working it into my hair. His fingers massaged the substance into my scalp gently, working it into every strand of my hair.

His breathing could be felt on my bare shoulder. A small kiss was soon placed on the back of my neck after he moved my hair to the side. It sent chills down my spine. The sweet gesture was to die for.

“Tell me what’s on your mind, Lai.” He whispered gingerly. His hands moved down to my shoulders, moving his fingers into them, massaging them in all the right places.

    “Graduation,” I simply said.

   “What about it?” He questioned.

I turned around, facing him. His eyebrows were knitted together. The shower head was right under us, raining on top of our bodies. “What am I supposed to do? You have your future. I don’t.”

Alex sighed and rubbed his face. He shook his head, and then cupped my jaw with both of his hands. Our eyes were locked on each other’s. His brown ones were serious and strict.

“You’ll figure it out. We’ll figure it out.” He assured. “I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be touring here and there, but I will always be yours.”

I believed his words in my heart. I knew he was telling the truth. But the future was so unpredictable, causing me to have a small doubt in my head. But my trust with him was strong and almost unbreakable. Alex and I had been dating for less than a year, but it felt so much longer than that. It felt like I knew him for an eternity already.

   “Really?” I had to ask.

“Yes, really, now turn around so I can wash your back.”

We ended up having a heavy make out session after we washed our bodies. It lasted for an hour until the water turned chillingly cold. We spent the rest of the night watching a random indie movie and fell asleep in the middle of it. And that was how we spent the night before graduation. No partying like most of our senior class was, no gig, no alcohol, it was just us, together.

This was it; Alex and I were finally going to graduate.

Now the rain is just washing him out of her hair and out of her mind.  Times were changing and the unexpected was about to happen. In over their heads with love and lust, they were too blind to see it coming. The calm before the storm was passing. And she won't be coming back.
