Confusion

Two days later.

Jiang Cheng's brows knit and his face wore a big frown as he stormed to his quarters. He doesn't know why, but lately, he frequently hears Lan Xichen's name.

"Oh, my. Zewu-jun is such a polite and dignified man!" the people said.

"Zewu-jun is really the kindest! One time, I met him and he greeted me – " a disciple said.

"Zewu-jun is a strong cultivator. He's the strongest!"

"Yes, yes. Zewu-jun is also handsome!"

"Lan Xichen is ranked first in the men whom the women want to date the most!"

The brush Jiang Cheng is holding snapped into two. "What the hell..." he muttered, his face dark. "Did I owe him in my last life or something...?" he asked.

The disciple who is about to enter their sect leader's room withdrew his leg that crossed the threshold when he felt the atmosphere isn't right. The air is really heavy and it seemed he could feel its heat. He could also see some purple sparks. What... what just happened? He thought and hastily hid behind the wall. Then, he peeked through the window to see their sect leader.

His eyes went wide when he saw the papers around Jiang Cheng were all torn and some pieces were burned from their sect leader's imposing aura. ... what the hell happened?! He thought, shocked. He looked at his report on his hand. After thinking for a second, he immediately left. However, before he could escape, a hand grabbed him behind and pulled him back. When he turned, he saw Wei Wuxian's magnified face. "Where are you going?" Wei Wuxian asked, smiling brightly.

The disciple was startled and struggled. Wei Wuxian immediately let him go. "Yiling Patriarch..." he said.

"You looked pale." Wei Wuxian said when he saw the disciple's bad complexion. "Did something happen?" he asked.

Recalling what he had seen earlier, his eyes widened and he immediately nodded. "There is, Yiling Patriarch!" he said. "The sect leader... I think he's having a qi deviation!" he told Wei Wuxian.

Wei Wuxian's eyes widened. "What?!" he said, shocked. "Qi deviation... this isn't supposed to happen..." he muttered as he frowned. He ran to Jiang Cheng's quarters. "Jiang Cheng! Jiang Cheng!" he called. "Jiang Ch – ugh!" he cried when he was hit by the purple aura coming from Jiang Cheng. "Jiang Cheng!" he called as he stepped back. He saw Jiang Cheng was surrounded by the purple aura that sparks, and so no one can get near him. "Jiang Cheng..." he muttered under his breath as he stared at Jiang Cheng clutching his chest, aghast.

This really shouldn't have happened. Things shouldn't have gone this way. This shouldn't...

Two days earlier, before Lan Xichen could've left the Cloud Recesses, he and Lan Wangji talked to Lan Xichen. They found out, Lan Xichen fell in love with Jiang Cheng. However, Jiang Cheng rejected. Then, Lan Xichen discovered from Lan Qiren about Jiang Cheng's 'lie'. Lan Xichen concluded Jiang Cheng is also in love with him, since Jiang Cheng lied to Lan Qiren, just to see Lan Xichen.

Wei Wuxian is happy for his brother Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen. And so, he helped Lan Xichen devise a plan to make Jiang Cheng's heart softer towards Lan Xichen. And the plan – to make Lan Xichen sound heroic and benevolent, making the people have a good impression on him – including Jiang Cheng.

However... Wei Wuxian's eyes narrowed as he looked at Jiang Cheng clutching his chest, his expression pained. "Jiang Cheng!" he called, his voice loud so that Jiang Cheng could hear. But, of course, Jiang Cheng couldn't hear him. Wei Wuxian's tears fell. Where did things go wrong...? he thought as he sobbed.

"Wei Ying!" he heard Lan Wangji called, worry in his voice.

Wei Wuxian turned and saw Lan Wangji. His heart calmed down, but his fear is still there as he turned and looked at Jiang Cheng. "Jiang Cheng..." he called.

"Qi deviation...?" Lan Wangji said, surprised.

Wei Wuxian nodded, his expression confused. "What happened?" he asked. "Why would Jiang Cheng...?" he said as he gritted his teeth. He felt helpless. Where did things go wrong?

"Wangji. Young master Wei." Lan Xichen called as he arrived. He was shocked to see Jiang Cheng. "Wanyin!" he called and was about to enter the room when he was thrown back by the force surrounding Jiang Cheng. "Wanyin!" he called as he punched the barrier. "Wanyin!" he called. "young master Wei, why did Wanyin had a qi deviation?" he asked.

Wei Wuxian shook his head. "I don't know..." he answered.

Lan Xichen's face is filled with fear and anxiety as he tried to break the barrier surrounding Jiang Cheng. "Wanyin... Wanyin..." he called.

Lan Wangji erected a barrier in the surrounding to keep the other people away. Only Lan Xichen's voice can be heard around them, repeatedly calling Jiang Cheng's name.
