THE GAME STARTED. Amelia was holding on to her jersey with a smile, biting her lip as she watched one of the players pass the ball to Stiles.
She smiled widely, but that smile faded away when one of the opposite team player's knocked him to the ground after he took too long to play, making Amelia hiss in pain.
She knew Stiles wasn't the best at lacrosse yet, she didn't expect him to be this bad.
"Now I understand why were you surprised he even got in the field," said Dahlia. "Should we take these numbers off our faces or...?"
"Shut up... I believe in him. He's probably just warming up."
But the next time, he took too long to take the ball and two of the opposite team players took him down, making Amelia close her eyes while the crowd all grunted in pain.
"He's just a little nervous?" Assumed Lizzie as Lydia sat next to her at the end of the bench, and Amelia nodded.
"He's just nervous. It's his first time playing. Plenty of time to turn it around."
She believed in him, she had to. He was her boyfriend, and there was no one else she believed more in than her boyfriend. Stiles had been practicing, and she trusted that he was going to be great.
"He's gonna die," mentioned Dahlia. "Am I the only one noticing that he's gonna die?"
And it was the same situation. Over and over again. Stiles was terrible at lacrosse and Amelia couldn't help but to lay her chin on the palm of her hand while watching the game, hissing in pain every time Stiles got hit.
One time, the ball hit him in the head instead of catching it with the stick, making the whole crowd start booing at him.
"He sucks," commented Dahlia. "And I don't even understand the game."
"You have a very charming cousin there, Amy," told her the sheriff sarcastically and she scoffed.
"Tell me about it," she replied with the same sarcasm, starting to bit her own white acrylic nails as she watched the game, nervously.
Amelia could sense the smell of now two wet dogs, so she looked towards the bleachers were Scott was, noticing that now there were two players.
Scott and Isaac. That only made her smile widely, her nerves almost fading away.
He came to help after all. He decided to stick around.
She knew that the old Isaac was still in there somewhere, she just had to push him correctly out of his shield.
The guy waved at her before starting to put on his pads and Amelia looked towards the field. Maybe they did have a chance of winning.
"We ran out of M&Ms," Dahlia interrupted Amelia's thoughts as she showed her the empty bag of candy, making Amelia look at her. "Do you have more?"
"I'm gonna kick you so hard you will land in Scotland," Amelia told her cousin angrily. Dahlia was really getting in her head lately.
Dahlia scoffed before looking back at the field again, muttering to herself. "With a no was enough."
They saw as Isaac got into the field, making Amelia raise her eyebrows. She didn't expect him to play that soon, or actually do something. And by the look Scott gave him, they seemed to have a plan.
"That guy is hot," said Dahlia to her and she chuckled. "Is he single?"
"And I think you are just his type," Amelia whispered. "Watch the game first..."
The whistle blew and they saw as one of the team members grabbed the ball, but Lahey placed his stick in front of him, making the guy fly backwards and land on his back.
Amelia hissed in pain as Dahlia leaned towards her ear, smiling.
"Isn't he supposed to be doing that to the opposite team?" Questioned Dahlia in a whisper and Amelia sighed.
"Yeah," she whispered in reply, confused.
"Then why is he doing it to ours?" Asked again the hunter and Amelia clicked her tongue.
"He's... got some anger management issues," she tried to say. "Werewolf stuff..."
Dahlia nodded before leaning away, continuing to watch the game as Amelia joined her hands, placing both of her index fingers in front of her mouth and watching the game.
What the hell was even going on?
They watched as Isaac did it over and over again, making guys from his own team fly through the skies and land well enough hurt to be replaced, but not enough to be sent to the hospital. He did that until there was no more players left on the bench except for Scott.
Except for Scott...
"That son of a..." Amelia whispered before chuckling, smiling to herself.
He was trying to get Scott to play, so something must have been going on.
Her eyes drifted towards the number 37, Jackson, before looking towards the sidelines where Gerard was standing, watching the game. Maybe it had something to do with that.
She just looked towards Stiles, wishing nothing happens to him.
"Lahey!" Yelled the Coach, gaining Amelia's attention. "Seriously, what the hell is your problem?"
Isaac simply act all innocent, making Amelia smile a bit. He was a nice guy after all. Weird ways to show it.
The whistle blew again and when Isaac was about to knock down other one of the team players, Jackson beat him to it, knocking Isaac down first and making Amelia nervous.
Especially because Isaac wasn't standing up from the ground.
"I have to go," whispered Amelia as she was about to stand up, but Dahlia sat her back down.
"You are here for your boyfriend. At everyone's eyes you are not more than a supportive girlfriend. You are not leaving this bench until your boyfriend leaves too."
"But Isaac's hurt... he's under my protection," she mumbled the last. "I think Jackson did something to him."
She feared the worse. She feared that Jackson had done something to Isaac because he wanted to kill him. She feared Jackson wanted to kill someone. She feared Jackson wanted to kill Stiles.
"It doesn't matter. Scott's got it cover. Now that Isaac's gone... he's in."
She followed Melissa as she ran towards Scott. She didn't know why was the woman running, she only knew that something was going on and she needed to know.
Amelia saw as they took Isaac, paralyzed, and stood right next to Scott, looking at him nervously as Melissa talked.
"Something's happening, isn't it?" Melissa asked to her son. "Something more than a lacrosse game?"
Scott looked at his mom. "You should go." He glanced towards Amelia. "Take her somewhere else, protect her."
"Oh, I'm not going anywhere," interrupted Melissa before Amelia could get her out of the field. "But everything that I said before, forget it. All of it, okay? If you can do something to help, then you do it. You have to."
"I will," Scott said while nodding. "Just please... stay with Amelia. Don't ever break apart from Amelia."
The girl dragged Melissa out of the field and they both walked towards the bleachers, quickly.
"Why does he want me to stay with you?"
Amelia looked over to her. "Remember when I taught you archery?" Melissa nodded. "It's not only a hobby."
"Oh," the woman said. "Cool... I guess..."
Amelia nodded before they sat down again, looking towards the field.
She just hoped everything would turn out okay from now on.
The game started again and they saw as Scott took the ball and began running across the field towards the opposite team's net.
"Yeah!" Exclaimed Dahlia. "Why did they have him on the bench? He's good!"
But as soon as he arrived to the half of the field, he was knocked down by one of the opposite team's players.
"Never mind," whispered Dahlia.
Scott through the ball to the air, and Stiles grabbed if, making Amelia pay more attention. It was the first time Stiles had grabbed the ball in a while, and she was hoping for him to run and do something.
Be he got taken down by the other team, making her sigh.
"Come on, Stiles!" She cheered him as she sat down straight, noticing Scott still on the floor, but not being hurt.
Only for then for him to run away of the field right before the game started again.
"What's he doing?" Melissa asked Amelia and she looked around.
"Just... stay here," Amelia told her before looking at the sheriff. "Mr. Stilinski, wouldn't you mind getting us some snacks?" The man quickly stood up as Amelia gave her the money. "Thank you, you are really the best."
As the man left, Amelia grabbed her bag from her feet and took out the disassembled compound bow, starting to assemble it.
"You carry that in your bag all the time?" Melissa questioned and she nodded.
"I also carry a hairbrush and some hand cream, you want some?" She offered before the bow clicked and she placed it in front of her legs. "Just in case..."
The game kept going and there was no sight of Scott. Amelia looked towards the players as they were getting crushed by the other team, dropping the ball constantly.
This one... landing on Stiles's feet.
"Oh crap," she whispered when she saw as her boyfriend started yelling with the ball as he ran away from the players.
The sheriff arrived just in time to see it, giving the girls their snacks before sitting down, watching Stiles stand up in front of the goal, with the ball in his stick and not knowing what to do.
"Stilinski!" The Coach shouted. "Shoot it! Shoot the ball!"
"Shoot it!" Yelled Amelia from the bleachers and Stiles listened.
He tossed the ball towards the net, this one landing in the inside and making Amelia stand up quickly next to the entire crowd, cheering.
"Oh my God!" Shouted Dahlia. "He actually did it!"
"Yes he did!"
And they watched it as he did it again the next time, making Amelia laugh as she began clapping, seeing her boyfriend dancing in the middle of the field as he celebrated.
"Two goals?" Asked Melissa and Amelia nodded, so proud.
She was so proud.
Amelia stood up again when Stiles scored another goal, raising her arms up in the air and yelling widely, as Stiles celebrated with his team.
She saw as Stiles looked towards her as she kept clapping and cheering, with the 24 drawn on her cheek and her smile as big as ever.
Stiles had scored three goals and now the team was up 10 to 9 in the last thirty seconds of the game. They were gonna win the state championship, thanks to Stiles.
Amelia couldn't hide her smile, and she wasn't trying.
The countdown arrived to the end and the whole crowd started to cheer. Amelia turned around to look at Dahlia and hugged her as Melissa was hugging the sheriff. She then proceeded to hug Lizzie and Lydia before looking back at the field.
That's when the lights when out.
Amelia looked around before grabbing her bow and her arrows, pulling Melissa close to her before trying to look around and identify something.
But everything went down when someone screamed.
Amelia grabbed Melissa's hand and dragged her down the bleachers, trying to take her towards the parking lot but Melissa let go of her hand, running towards the field instead.
"Melissa!" She yelled, following her.
"Scott! Scott where are you!?" The woman yelled desperately. "Scott!"
"Mom, mom!" Amelia heard Scott yelling as she grabbed his mother's hands. Amelia was quick to join them. "Amy... are you okay?"
"We're fine, but somebody is hurt," Melissa told Scott. "Somebody is down on the field."
She was too worried to even notice it. She was to worried about taking Melissa out that... she didn't look back.
The girl, with her bow around her chest and her arrows on the back, slowly approached the center of the field where all the players were standing, watching the laying body of one of them.
"No..." she whispered as she walked slowly.
"Amelia!" Called her Scott but she didn't listen.
The fear of the player being Stiles, the amount of pain that was going through her body was alarming. She just wanted to see if he was okay, she just wanted to check on him.
It was her fault, it was all her fault. She was just so proud a few seconds ago and now the fear of the guy down being her boyfriend it just...
The lights turned on and Scott dragged her quickly towards the center, where Jackson's body was laying unconscious.
"Jackson!?" Exclaimed Lydia. "Jackson what's happening!?"
"We need a medic over here!" Yelled the Coach and Melissa kneeled down beside him
She felt Isaac and Scott standing behind her as they watched the scene, nervously.
Melissa placed her ear on his chest before looking up.
"He's not breathing," she let them know. "No pulse."
Melissa lifted his shirt, showing him five wounds on it and making everyone grunt in pain.
Amelia hit Scott and Isaac on the chest a few times, pointing at Jackson's hand.
"He did it to himself?" Asked Isaac before they watched as Melissa was trying to give CPR to Jackson.
Before she could say anything, she watched the sheriff arrive and she looked around, looking for the number 24.
"Where's Stiles?" She asked, making Scott and Isaac look at her. "Where's... where's Stiles?"
"Lia..." Isaac called her as she started walking away, looking around.
"Where's my boyfriend?" She yelled, looking around.
She was spinning, looking for him. The fear filling her body up again as she couldn't find him, she couldn't find him anywhere.
"Where's Stiles!?"
