BEFORE SCOTT AND AMELIA COULD GET BACK TOWARDS THE SCHOOL, DEREK APPEARED IN HIS BLACK CAR.

"Speaking of the Devil," she murmured.

"Get in!" He told the two, looking at them through his sunglasses.

"Are you serious?" Scott asked him. "You did that! That's your fault!" He was referring to Isaac being taken by the sheriff.

"I know that," admitted Derek, surprising Amelia. "Now get in the car and help me."

"I have a better idea. I'm gonna call a lawyer," was the thing Scott said, making Amelia roll her eyes. "Because a lawyer might actually have a chance at getting him out before the moon goes up."

"Not when they do a real search of the house," argued Derek, looking at Scott.

"What do you mean?" Asked him Amelia.

"Whatever Jackson said to the cops, what's in the house is worse. A lot worse."

God, Isaac was really being treated so badly in his own home and she had no idea. Amelia felt terrible.

Derek opened the door and pulled the seat down so that Amelia could get in the back, but the girl shook her head.

"You go, I'll wait for Stiles," Amelia told Scott, making the Alpha roll his eyes.

"Amelia get in!"

"Ask him about my powers," whispered the girl to the werewolf before turning around, walking again towards the school.

She was no ready to confront Derek, and she was going to find another way to get Isaac out.

"Hey, sorry, Harris literally just let me out of detention," told Stiles to Allison as him and Amelia walked towards the jeep, "literally. And my phone died so I had to use Amelia's."

Amelia had to wait for Stiles outside Mr. Harris's classroom as he got out of detention, and that gave her time to think.

What if Scott was right? What if the connection with Derek was getting weaker, and so was she?

The girl proceeded to do some research in the library while Stiles got out, and she didn't have time to get out of detention so she put all of the books inside her bag, ready to look through them once she gets home.

Stiles and Amelia got in the jeep, getting to hear Allison's voice through the speaker.

"Well, we need to do something right now," she said as Amelia took out her disassembled bow and started putting it together. "They were asking me all these questions about Lydia and how she was bitten by Peter, and the all those questions about Amelia and her family and how she's the only left."

"Why do they care about the Sealgairs? They wouldn't waste time on humans," mentioned Amelia.

"I don't know, and they sent this guy out."

"Wait what guy?" Questioned Stiles quickly as he kept driving, Amelia finally finishing assembling the bow.

"He was dressed as a Sheriff's deputy."

"Why would they sent a guy in costume?" Asked Amelia to Stiles, confused.

"They're sending him to the station for Isaac." The girl closed her eyes.

Why did she feel like it was her fault that this was happening?

"He was also carrying this box with something on it, like, uhm... like a carving or something."

"Well, what was it?" Amelia asked, frowning.

"Hold on. It's in one of these books." They heard Allison flipping pages before she talked again. "I'm taking a picture."

Amelia's phoned ring and they both looked at the picture Allison sent them.

"Did you get it?"

"Yeah, wolfsbane," said Amelia. "Lesson number one in hunting training, Allison, that thing... it's lethal to a werewolf."

"That means..."

"Means they are going to kill him," finished Stiles.

"Hey did you slow him down?" Amelia asked Allison over the phone. Stiles was continuing to drive towards the station while she decided to chat with the girl on her own.

"You could say that," Allison replied, making Amelia frown.

"You shot him, didn't you?" She heard Allison chuckle on the other side of the line. "Cool. Alright, well, Stiles is driving to the station right now."

"Where's Scott?"

"Isaac's."

Scott had texted her about his location because he knew she wasn't able to smell him or hear him. She didn't tell him anything about her powers though, and Amelia wasn't sure if he even asked. He also told them about his plan.

"Does he have a plan?" Allison questioned and she simply sighed.

"Yeah, but not a very good one. And unfortunately, we don't really have time to come up with anything better," replied the girl before hanging up the phone, looking over to Stiles. "I like her."

"Well, if you teach her well, she'll be a killing machine just like you."

The girl scoffed. "I don't think that's even partially true," she murmured before looking towards the full moon.

Stiles glanced at her before looking back at the road. "Your eyes." She turned around to look at him. "Your powers are still there. You just need to find them."

They pulled up in front of the station. They had picked up Derek along the way, against Amelia's wishes, since he was decided to cooperate and Isaac was his Beta, so technically, it as his responsibility.

"I was supposed to work today," whispered the girl before putting the sting of her bow across her chest and her arrows on her back.

"Do you have your tranquilizer?" Derek asked her and Amelia nodded.

"Okay, now the keys to every cell are in a password protected lockbox in my father's office. The problem is getting past the front desk."

"I know her, she hates me," pointed Amelia, making Derek glance at their before looking back at the officer again.

"I'll distract her," offered Derek before going to open the door, being stopped by Stiles.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa... you!?" Stiles exclaimed, placing a hand on Derek's shoulder. "You're not going in there."

Derek glanced to the hand before looking at him, making Stiles nervous.

"I'm taking my hand off," he announced the action as he did it, making Amelia hide a smile.

"I was exonerated," mentioned Derek, looking at the guy.

"You're still a person of interest," reminded him Stiles.

"An innocent person," snapped back Derek, and Amelia could argue but she decided to stay quiet.

"Ah... you?" Apparently, Stiles didn't remain silent. "Yeah, right!" He exclaimed, almost laughing at the affirmation the Alpha did. "Okay, fine. What's your plan?"

"To distract her," he said very simply, making Amelia roll her eyes.

"How are you gonna distract her?" She asked quickly, making him look at her. "By punching her in the face?"

He faked a laugh before speaking. "By talking to her."

"Okay, alright," intervened Stiles. "Give me a sample. What are you gonna open with?"

Derek sighed before looking directly at Stiles, without saying a word. Amelia frowned, trying to understand what he was doing.

"Dead silence," said Stiles, looking at him. "That should work beautifully. Any other ideas?"

"I'm think about punching you in the face," commented Derek, making Amelia chuckle.

"I think he's good," Amelia opined, looking at him. "She doesn't get any action so you'll be fine. Oh, and tell her that Amelia sent you... I've heard she makes excellent coffee and I would really like to try it."

Amelia smiled at the werewolf as he rolled his eyes.

"That count as one of the favors." The girl nodded. "I still owe you one."

"I'll let you know."

Stiles and Amelia watched as Derek walked in towards the front desk, the woman getting out as she looked at the paperwork.

"Good evening how can I help... you?" Without even saying a work, the girl was already distracted.

Amelia noticed Derek smiling. There has been only a few times she had seen his smile, and it was really charming.

"Hi," he greeted her and she smiled.

"Hi," she said back, making it sound like she had just seen a Greek God. That only made Stiles roll his eyes.

"I'm a friend of Amelia's," the girl celebrated in her mind, "and she told me to come here when I had a question."

"A friend of Amelia's." The guy nodded. "Okay..."

"Uhm, sorry I'm a little... A little thrown. I wasn't really expecting someone..."

They heard the officer chuckle as they walked towards the office. "Like... me?"

"Oh, I was gonna say 'so incredibly beautiful' but, yeah, I guess that'd be the same thing."

Amelia raised her eyebrows. The doggie had game!

Stiles grabbed her hand and dragged her inside of the office, not letting her hear the rest of that conversation or even ask herself when did Derek had time to improve his flirting.

They both entered and walked towards the Sheriff's desk, Stiles walking towards the lockbox at the back and proceeding to press the buttons, opening it but noticing that the box was empty.

"Where are the keys?"

The girl took that as a moment to put the arrow on the bow and tense the string.

They both walked towards the hallway, looking for someone who had the keys or Isaac's cell itself, when they encounter one of the Sheriff's deputy, Amelia immediately hiding the bow behind her.

"I'm sorry, I was just lookingโ€”" But the tree looked down to his leg, noticing one of Allison's arrows that Amelia had give her as a present and a trail of blood behind the deputy. "Oh... crap."

Amelia gave Stiles her bow as she raised her fist to punch the guy, but he was quicker, placing a hand on top of her mouth and dragging her backwards. He kicked Stiles on the leg making him fall onto his back, and Amelia tried to fight the man back, but she couldn't.

She hated it. As she tried to release herself, the only thing she could think about was how weak she was feeling.

She she kept trying to fight back, only getting to raise her arm enough to pull down the fire alarm before the guy kept dragging her towards the cells.

The guy let her go before turning around, syringe in hand, looking towards the opened cell where Isaac was supposed to be.

Before she could stand up and check if Stiles was okay, she saw as Isaac tossed the hunter against the table before grabbing him again, turning around and tossing him against the wall.

Stiles arrived limping, kneeling next to her and dragging her towards the wall behind the table, trying to remain hidden as Isaac fought the man.

Wolfsbane is your friend and enemy at the same time.

"Stiles, get me that syringe."

"What?"

The girl stood up quickly and walked towards where the guy had dropped the syringe, grabbing it.

When she was about to inject it in her arm, she saw as Isaac growled against Stiles, and before she could stand up and fight him, Derek appeared.

His red eyes shined before roaring towards Isaac, making the guy hide against the wall, turning human again.

"How the hell did you do that?" Asked Stiles as he stood up, walking towards his girlfriend

Derek turned around to look at them. "I'm the Alpha..." He said, making Amelia scoff.

"Show off..."

As Amelia got in her room at the McCall's house and closed the door behind her, she got scared when she saw the figure of Derek, staring at her.

"God, youโ€” scared the shit out of me!" She yelled before looking at him.

"So it is true," he whispered, leaving the dark corner and approaching her slowly. "You don't have you powers anymore."

"I have them, they just..." she sat on the bed, him sitting next to her. "They don't wanna work."

Derek looked at her for a few seconds. She was playing with her fingers, trying not to look at him straightly in the eyes.

She felt so weak, like she needed protection or something, even though she was the one that should be doing the protecting.

"Amelia, can I let you in on a little secret?"

"Derek Hale having secrets, that's some new shit right there," she mentioned sarcastically as she couldn't held herself before looking up towards. "Sure..."

Derek exhaled. "You remind me a lot of my sister Laura," he admitted, making her scoff.

"The one that was cut in half and used as bait to get to you?" Derek turned around abruptly to look at her, breathing loudly. "Too soon?"

The werewolf decided to let it slide before continuing to talk. "She was... incredibly powerful. But she didn't let that get into her head. She was the kindest soul I've ever known."

"And I remind you of her? Are you sure you are talking to the same Amelia?" He hit her softly in the arm, making her laugh.

Derek exhaled before he continued. "I learned from her a lot. And she taught me that, if you are no one without your powers, then you shouldn't have them in the first place."

Amelia looked at him before nodding, understanding what he was saying. She needed to find herself, be someone without her powers. Maybe it was a life lesson.

"Give it to me," he asked in a whisper, and she knew what he was talking about.

The girl pulled the syringe out of her pocket, giving it to the werewolf. She tossed it to the floor before stepping on it, destroying it.

"It's better that way," he admitted. "We had no idea how that would react in your body."

"If, by any chance, that gave me back my powers, I will kill you. And I don't need my powers to do that I'll just shoot an arrow at you." Derek laughed before standing up, turning around to look at her.

"You know... I appreciate that you are my protector." The girl raised her eyebrows. "I don't want anyone else."

"Even if I don't have powers?"

"Even if you don't have powers," the guy assured her, making her chuckle. "Oh, and I kinda told Isaac you were single and now he's pissed at me."

"What?" She asked, confused, but the guy was already outside the window.

Derek Hale was starting to feel like a brother to her.

But she was not going to join her pack.
