"HEY, IT'S ME AGAIN," Kate played the voicemail, Stiles voice being the only thing filling the Hale house. "Look I found something and I don't know what to do, okay? So if either you or Scott could answer your phone right now, that'd be great, or else, I'll kill you. Do you understand me, Amelia? I'll kill you... thinking about it twice, I have no chance at killing you since you'll probably kill me first but you get my point! Goodbye!"
"Your boyfriend seems intense," commented Kate.
"Shut up..."
Amelia was on the ground, her back on one of the pieces of furniture Derek had. She was hurt from dealing with Kate hand-on-hand, but she seemed perfectly fine, electrocuting Derek once in a while.
"900,000 volts," she said, looking at the weapon with blue lights coming from it.
It wasn't fair, Amelia only had like two bows and a dagger.
A dagger...
"You never were good with electricity, were you?" This stupid little games she was playing were getting a bit tiring. "Or fire," she said before chuckling. "Which is why I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. And, well, maybe we can help each other out."
The woman sat in front of Derek as he panted. Amelia wanted to help him, but she was wounded. She couldn't stand up.
She only had to reach her dagger.
"Yes, your sister was severed into pieces and used as bait to try to catch you." She clicked her tongue. "Unpleasant, and frankly, a little too Texas Chainsaw Massacre for my taste, but quite true. Now, here's the part that might really kick you in your balls... we didn't kill her."
Amelia looked at her in confusion. Derek had told them that he found his sister that way, that she was kidnapped by the Argents. If they didn't do it, then who did?
"You think I'm lying?" Kate asked.
"Wouldn't be the first time..."
Oh, ew, they had something, she said in her head. And there he was, making Scott feel bad for dating a hunter.
Maybe that was the reason he was making him feel bad and trying him to stop going out with Allison... he was once Scott.
That's just too Shakespeare for Amelia's taste.
"Sweetie," said Kate, approaching him. "Well, why don't you just listen to my heart and tell me if I am."
Amelia slowly grabbed the dagger inside her boot, and waited for her chance to throw it at the hunter.
"We... didn't..." She was leaning in towards him... "kill... your sister."
The last she said in a whisper against his ear. She looked away. Every part of that woman made her upset.
"Do you hear that? There's no blips or upticks. Just the steady but of the cold, hard truth." She stood up abruptly, walking a bit before facing him. "Found bite marks on your sister's body, Derek. What do you think did that? A mountain lion?" She laughed at her own joke. "Why aren't we helping each other out? You might as well admit what you've been guessing all along, which is, the Alpha killed your sister."
That was it... that was the last drop.
"And all you have to do is tell us who he is, we'll take care of it for you. Problem solved, everybody goes home happy."
She noticed that Kate was too distracted with Derek to even care about what she was doing. As she regained her strength, and her wounds healed completely, Amelia slowly stood up, hiding behind the couch. She continued to hear Kate's monologue.
"Unless, you don't know who he is either..." She chuckled. "Wow... guess who just became totally useless?"
Amelia threw the dagger at Kate's side, distracting her and giving Derek the chance to escape.
"Ugh... I should have hit you harder..."
Amelia jumped the couch and kicked Kate's riffle away, starting to fight her again. Amelia had something that Kate didn't, and that was supernatural strength and reflexes.
But Kate had training, years of it. Years of fighting and killing werewolves. Amelia had no idea if she had even encountered a girl like her.
A Sealgair.
"You are supposed to be in our side!" Yelled Kate as Amelia grabbed her and flipped her over, making Kate land on her back, hitting the floor. "Why are you helping him!?"
"I'm not!" She replied while Kate stood up again, continuing to fight. "I'm killing the competition."
Amelia punched her in the stomach before kicking her ankles, making her fall again.
"What would Allison say when I tell her her aunt is a loony!?" She tented her as Kate tried to grab her rifle, but Amelia kicking it again.
"She wouldn't believe you..." The woman mumbled trying to fight again.
"Oh really? She already suspects of you..." Said Amelia as they both broke apart. She placed her fist in front of her face, ready to keep going. "I'll just tell her Auntie Katie got off the deep-end and tried to kill me."
"You couldn't possibly be a Sealgair. A Sealgair wouldn't let a werewolf run free," mentioned the woman before they kept fighting. "How does it feel to drag your family's legacy through the mud?"
"I should ask you," said Amelia before hitting Kate in the stomach. Amelia flipped backwards, grabbing the bow and arrows Kate had taken from her before, placing an arrow on the string and tense it, aiming at her, "how does it feel to lose against a teenager?"
Amelia put the bow down, looking at Kate. She was laying on the floor with her back on the burned sofa. The girl stared at the woman for a few seconds before walking towards the door.
"You are a Sealgair," was what Kate said, "why are you letting him run free? He's a monster."
Amelia looked at her for a few seconds.
"He's not a killer... like you..."

"Your lip's bleeding," she heard. Amelia quickly turned around, tensing the string of her arrow, aiming at where the voice came from.
"Derek," she whispered, putting the bow down. "Thought you'd be in Mexico by now."
"Did you kill her?" She shook her head. "Did you win?"
"I kicked her pretty hard, if that's what you mean," she replied before smiling. Her lip hurt, and he probably was right: she was bleeding. "Tough day to be a protector, huh?"
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about," he said before approaching her. "I trust you, Amelia..."
She chuckled. "Guess I'm officially your protector now, huh?" He nodded slowly. "I should go make sure Scott is okay..."
"Now that I trust you," he said again, preventing her from walking away, "I trust that you won't tell Scott about... Kate and I. It was a long time agoโ"
"No need to clarify," she interrupted him. "I'm a protector, not Gossip Girl. And it's not a favor, so you don't owe me for my silence." The werewolf nodded again. "See you soon, Derek... I'll be... patrolling."
"Good..."
"Good..."
She kept walking away, taking the blackberry out of her pocket and dialing Stiles number. He didn't take long to pick up.
"Hey, Stiles," she greeted him, "sorry for not answering. I had to deal with some Argents."
"Are you okay?" He asked and she chuckled.
"I'm okay. I just got a cut lip and a lifetime of nightmares about Kate Argent kicking me in the stomach several times," she replied. "What did you wanted to tell me."
"I went over to Lydia's," he began. "She got a picture of the Alpha in her phone."
"I would prefer not to look at it since I don't want that thing to be Kate Argent in my nightmares," she answered. "What did Scott say?"
"Scott is not replying," informed her Stiles, making her stop walking. "He hasn't answered his phone in all day. He ditched school and everything."
"He's with Allison, it's her birthday today." She heard Stiles scoff.
"How do you know that?"
"I'm his protector, remember? I was at the woods checking on him when Derekโ"
"Derek? Derek Hale? What did he do to you?"
"Stilesโ"
"Oh, I don't trust that guy. Is it his fault that you were attacked by the Argents?"
"Partially," Amelia replied.
"I don't trust him..."
"But I do," she assured him. "He's under my protection, Stiles."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," the girl chuckled. "Would you come over, please? I just... I want to make sure you're okay."
"Stiles, I'm okayโ"
"Please... Ames." The girl raised her eyebrows to that new nickname before a smile grew on her face. "I just... I want to see you."
"I'll be right there."

"See, I'm okayโ" But she was interrupted by Stiles wrapping her hands around her waistline, hugging her. "Stiles, I'm fine... I definitely kicked her ass."
He slowly broke apart the hug, looking at her. "Why were you with Derek in the first place?" Was the thing he asked her.
"He wanted to talk to me about the night at the video store," she replied as she placed her hands on her shoulders, now realizing that he hasn't moved his hands from her waist. "He told me something very important."
"What was that?"
She exhaled, doubting if she should tell him. She wanted though.
Stiles was partially the only normal thing in her life right now, even if he was part of the whole supernatural thing.
"Stiles..." When they heard the Sheriff talk, they broke apart, even if they weren't doing anything wrong. The sheriff peeked out through the door, looking at the two. "Hi, Amy."
"Hey, Mr. Stilinski, you look nice," greeted him, pointing at the suit. "Parent/teacher conference, huh?"
"Yeah, I expect to hear good news," said the Sheriff to his son.
"Depends how you define 'good news'," he replied Stiles.
"I define it as you getting good grades and no behavioral issues."
Stiles clicked her tongue before talking again. "You might wanna rethink that definition."
The sheriff exhaled before looking at Amelia, who was standing there, hearing the conversation.
"Who's going to the meeting tonight from your part, Amy?"
"My dad for me and my mom for Elizabeth... I got the tough one," she commented and the sheriff chuckled. "Bye, Mr. Stilinski..."
But the Sheriff didn't leave, he stayed there, looking at the two.
"Is... Is Scott coming over?"
"He has to go to the conference..."
"Below C average," added the girl.
"Chemistry..." continued Stiles.
"Mr. Harris," she whispered the last.
"He's a jerk," said Stiles between chuckles, making Amelia smile.
"Okay..." said the sheriff slowly. "So it's the two of you?"
"Yeah we were going to watch a movie," replied Stiles.
"What movie?"
Amelia was trying to hold her laughter as she saw Stiles think about a movie.
"Uhm... 2001 Space Odyssey?" He said looking at Amelia and she nodded.
"That's the one..."
The sheriff looked at the kids for a few seconds more before nodding.
"Okay... bye," he waved before leaving through the hall. Stiles proceeded to close the door of his room, turning around to look at the girl.
They were the two alone. Scott was in the middle of nowhere with Allison, the sheriff and Amelia's parents were at the school and they'll be there for hours.
They'll be alone for hours.
"So, what was the thing Derek said to you?" He asked her as they both sat down on his bed. She crossed her legs, leaning her back against the wall as she looked at him.
"Well, uhm... he said that Scott and I shared an important connection, a link, and that the alpha is not happy about it."
"What do you mean?"
The girl sighed before continuing. "The Alpha is the only one that can assure a Beta's protection in exchange for loyalty, which kinda resembles to the pact I made with Scott."
"You offer him protection from the hunters only if he doesn't kill anybody," he recalled and the girl nodded.
"Well, turns out that's more than just words. Derek explained that as soon Scott begins to actually trust me, I stopped being a hunter... and become a protector."
"Like... an actual title?" Amelia nodded. "What happens?"
"Well, instead of killing supernatural creatures, I protect them," tried to explain the girl. "Derek said I'll be the first. Sealgair's are destined to kill supernatural creatures, I'm the only one that actually stepped into the protection zone."
"So... you are different."
"There's just a matter of time before my bloodlust isn't against werewolves but... hunters. My family, to be precise."
"What do you want to do?"
"I don't know, Stiles..." she admitted. "Derek said he trusts me, whatever that means. And for some reason, I don't want to kill him."
"What about Scott? Do you want to kill Scott?"
She thought about it for a few seconds. "If he can get rid of that dog smell, I could think about it..."
"Well, is it that bad to become a protector?" He asked in a whisper. "To become one of us?"
"I don't know," she mumbled. "I don't want to betray my family by turning against them."
"Don't think of it as your family, think of it as their cause... do you support what they are doing?"
She didn't... her family would kill Scott and Derek without even thinking about it.
"I just want Scott to be safe... we won't know anything until he begins to trust me."
"Well, I don't know if something is going to morph inside you or if your eyes are going to turn purple again after I say this." The girl chuckled. "But I trust you, Ames, I do..."
Amelia grabbed his hand and squeezed it softly, smiling.
"I trust you too, Stilinski."
