Chapter 3

03:44, 12 August 2016

It has been almost two weeks since you stormed out of Erik's apartment, and you have been sadder than ever. You barely knew him but you just felt  connection between the two of you as soon as you met. But you guess that you got what you deserved for trusting someone so easily, burned."Umm.. Yeah." You hear your mother say from the foyer of the house. Someone had knocked on the door a few moments ago and she had gotten up to get it, leaving you sitting in your spot on the sofa in the lounge room.

"Ana, honey. There's someone here to see you." Your mum said, appearing in the doorway.

You placed your worn out but well loved copy of Jane Eyre on the coffee table before standing. After stretching you walked past your mother and into the foyer. In the doorway stood someone you weren't sure you ever wanted to see again. Erik Lehnsher.

"What are you doing here?" You ask in shock.

"I came to apologize, for my rudeness and ignorance. I shouldn't have said those things to you. It's just.. I never thought that I would meet someone who I would feel so strongly for. I'm not saying I love you but I did feel something between us. I tried but I couldn't stay away any longer. Can you find it in your heart to forgive me?" He concluded the confession with a hopeful smile.

You stare at him wide-eyed, your just lost for words. The only thing you can do to answer him is nod your head. He grins at you happily, thankfully.

"Would you like to go for a walk? Start over?" You asked once you found your voice again.

"Sure." He grabs your hand and pulls you outside. You laugh and let your body be pulled.

"I'll be home later Mum!" You yell out before closing the door. Then you turn to Erik with a grin, "Let's go."

Erik and yourself walked around for hours, having no real destination. Both of you never stopped smiling and laughing at the random things you would talk about. As it turned to dusk, Erik brought you both some food and you sat in a nearby park eating. When you asked about his powers, when he had discovered them and so on, he told you everything. Germany, his friend Charles, his powers growing, meeting other mutants.

Erik's past fascinated you, his voice lulled you into serenity and you could listen to him speak forever. Suddenly, it was 10pm and you were standing on your porch saying goodbye to Erik. He didn't notice, but you did, the fact that your mother was watching you both from the window.

"Goodnight Analise. I'll see you again tomorrow." Erik took your hand and kissed your knuckles. You blush red and smile shyly at him. You had organized to meet again at noon the next day for another date.

"Don't be late." With a sudden push of courage, you kiss him on the cheek before ducking inside. You walk into the lounge room with a goofy grin on your face. Erik had once again made you feel like a love sick teenager. To be honest, you could feel yourself falling for him, and fast.

It frightened you a bit to know you are dating a very dangerous man, a mutant. But Erik had promised you that he had changed, that he was different now. Nicer, friendly and happier. He had given you no reason to believe otherwise. With a giddy giggle, you grab your book from the coffee table and head up the stairs to get ready for bed.

"What has you so giggly?" Your mother is standing at the top of the stairs and looks down at you.

"Erik. He isn't as bad as I thought." I tell her, hugging my book to my chest.

"He seems to make you happy." She comments.

"He does. He is amazing." You say as you start walking towards her again.

"I need to meet him. Bring him over soon so I can meet the man that has stolen my daughters heart." She winks at you and moves out of the way so you can pass her.

"We have only been on a few dates Mum, I don't need you scaring him away just yet." You tease her.

We both laugh as we walk towards our bedrooms. "Goodnight Mum." You say before ducking through the doorway.

"Goodnight Ana." She calls behind you.

After closing the bedroom door, you put your book away on the shelf and then gather up clothes to have a shower. Even though Erik is a mutant, you aren't afraid of him after getting to know him. He is a very nice man and you can' wait to see what the future holds for you both.
