Chapter 2

18:42, 8 August 2016

"Bye Mom!" You sung out to your mother as you left the house, "I'll be back soon!"After closing the front door behind you, you walked down the steps of the porch and made your way down the street. It looked a lot different in the daylight so you hoped you could find Eriks building.

As you walked, you pulled the card he gave you out of your pocket and looked over it. Last night you didn't check the back of it so when you turn it over, there is some more writing.

'Just in case you forget'

Underneath the words, there is an address written that matches the buildings in front of you. You are at the right place. After pocketing the card again, you check the time on your watch. Ten past one the two hands told you.

When you look up at the apartment building, Erik is exiting through the front doors. A grin quickly makes it's way onto his face when he spots you.

Your heart feels like it skips a beat when your eyes lock onto his. He looks even more handsome in the daylight. How that is possible you don't know.

A clicking noise is heard as you walk towards Erik and greet him with a hug. He wraps his arms around you for a moments and holds you close before you both pull away.

"What was that for?" Erik asks.

"I don't really know. You didn't seem to be in the best mood until you saw me." You answer, shrugging.

He just nods and starts walking back towards his building. "Let's go."

You follow him inside cautiously, he still is a stranger to you. Erik still looks a bit irritated but not as much as before. You ask yourself why but can't seem to think of a cause.

"What's the plan for today?" You question as both Erik and you make your way towards the elevator.

"I thought we would just have a drink and get to know each other a bit better." He answers, pressing the button to open the doors

"Sounds fun." You reply.

After taking the elevator to one of the top floors, you both walk down the hallway until Erik stops in front of a door.

"How has your morning been Ana?" Erik asks, unlocking the door.

"Boring. I visited my mum and helped her do a bit of cleaning.

Erik laughs and pushes his door open. He grabs your hand and leads you through the doorway. Inside is an expensive looking penthouse. You get pulled behind Erik as he walks towards the kitchen.

"Would you like a drink?" He asks as he grabs himself a  glass from the cuboard.

"Yes please. Water will do just fine." You answer.

Erik nods his head and grabs a second glass. While he fills them up, you look around in awe. How can he afford this place? He doesn't seem like type to have a well paying job. Maybe he inherited it or his parents are rich. You just don't know.

A glass filled with water is abruptly shoved in front of your face. You giggle a bit after jumping in shock and take it from Eriks hand. After taking a sip, you follow him over to the living area. When he takes a seat and motions for you to sit next to him, you comply.

"So..." Erik says, breaking the silence.

"So..." You mock him, grinning afterwards.

He laughs along with you. You take another drink from the glass and then place it on the coffee table in front of you. As you are sitting up, a remote floats into the air by it's self. You watch it move, a wide-eyed look on your face, and fall into Eriks hand.

He simply presses a button on it and the silent air is filled with quiet music. You stare at him, almost frightened. He doesn't notice your expression due to having closed his eyes and focusing on the music.

"So what are your powers?" He asks simply

"Umm. Sorry?" You are very confused as well as scared, sitting on the edge of your seat and getting ready to run at a seconds notice.

"Your mutation. What is it?" He replies calmly, opening his eyes.

You force yourself into a more relaxed position. You haven't heard a lot about mutants but what you have, it hasn't been good.

"Don't be afraid to tell me. I'm like you." Erik says, lifting his hand. Two metal balls that were sitting on the coffee table flew up and started spinning around each other in the air above Eriks palm.

"I," He pauses, the balls floating higher up. "Control metal. What is it that you can do?" His hand drops as he finishes speaking, the balls falling onto the couch beside you.

"I-I. Umm... I." You pause an take a deep breathe, "I don't have powers. I'm not a mutant. I'm normal."

"What? You can't be!" He states coldly.

Something about his look sparks a fire inside you. You stand up and glare at him.

"Excuse me? How dare you! Did you just invite me here to pick on me? And here I was thinking you were different from everybody else. Oh was I wrong!" You snatch up your purse you dropped as you sat down and turned away from him, striding towards the door.

"Analise. I didn't mean it to come out as it sounded. It's just your so..." Erik trails off, looking or the right word. You stop and turn around to face him. "Un-extraordinary." He finishes.

You scoff and spin back to the door, almost running towards it. After opening it you say one last thing before leaving.

"I've heard enough. Don't follow me."
