Chapter 4 - Buzzing Beedrill
05:38, 6 December 2014"We just came from that way dumbass!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. "I distinctly remember that same damn Caterpie that you battled knocked out in that same spot!"
I pointed by a large tree, where an unconcious Caterpie lay, defeated by Brandon & his Growlithe.
We had been in the Viridan Forest for about five hours now, Brandon was leading the way & doing a horrible job. He got us lost within the first ten minutes "Well, erm... Have we gone this way before?" he looked to his left at a small trail between the enormous trees of the Viridian Forest. I was annoyed & irritated to the highest possible degree.
I sat down on a small tree stump & took a few deep breathes. I was terribly hungry & to make matters worse, it was 1 in the morning.
"We're gonna have to sleep here," I groaned.
"What?"
"We are gonna have to sleep here. In the forest. There's no way we'll get out in the dark & besides, look at your poor Pokemon. He's exhausted from walking around," I huffed. Growlithe was usually full of energy, but even then, he looked a little tired. He was panting loudly with his tongue out, & sitting watching Brandon make a fool of himself.
"Please tell your trainer that we are tired & sick of his shit."
Growlithe immediatley whined at Brandon's feet. "Fine," he agreed instantly. We set up our sleeping bags in a clearing away from the bushes & trees. I let out my Pokemon, because being in a Pokeball seemed to be so boring. They enjoyed being out, it seemed like. So I let them out to sleep & eat, & to train or battle.
They really appreciated being able to sleep outside comfortably. I wondered what being in a Pokeball felt like. Probably similar to the cramped room I had lived in with my family my whole life. I shuddered at the thought. No one should be crammed into a small space for such a long period of time.
Bulbasaur chose to sleep against the nearest tree, snuggled against it as it was a teddy bear. Amber slept beside me, she looked so cute sleeping. My Charmander slept by her also.
Brandon's Growlithe & Squirtle slept cutely; Squirtle cuddled against Growlithe's soft fur. I smiled at them, & shut my eyes & drifted off to sleep.
In the morning, Brandon's yelling woke me up. He was jumping up & down with joy. "Great job Squirtle!" "Will you shut up?" I groaned, tossing & turning, but I knew I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep.
So I gave up, & sat up to see what all the yelling was about. "What's all the commotion about?"
I looked to see Brandon battling a Metapod, no suprise there. Ever since we got to the forest, he thought it would be a good idea to battle every Pokemon in sight. This time, he seemed to be fighting an actual trainer, however.
"Use Bubble one more time!" Squirtle released a small amount of Bubbles from his mouth. They were tiny, & slowly flew towards Metapod. After it hit, the bug Pokemon laid on its side, unable to battle. Brandon smirked cockily. "Nice battling with you." The other trainer seemed pissed off at Brandon's cocky attitude. He left stomping off angrily.
"Squirtle learned a new move!" Brandon exclaimed. While I was happy for him, I was not a morning person, at all. "That's great & all, but did you have to wake me up?" I made a face at Brandon. "Bubble will be useful for battling Brock. He's a rock-type trainer." Brandon was so full of energy so early in the morning... It pissed me off.
"Let's eat breakfast, then get out of this forest!" he yanked me up by my arm. I groaned & protested, but he won, again.
Our Pokemon & us ate breakfast, then we would attempt to get out of Viridian Forest. "Alright guys, does anyone wanna walk with me? Or would you like to sit this one out?" I asked my Pokemon. Vulpix, or should I say Amber, was half asleep. She had been up since early in the morning flirting with Growlithe. Charmander didn't say anything, he was quiet. I noticed he was a relatively quiet Pokemon. He was also a bit stubborn, & very cocky, much like Brandon.
Bulbasaur, however, was smiling with glowing eyes, & stuck one of his vines up in the air, as if raising his hand. He looked at me with eyes that said, 'Pick me'!
"I guess Bulbasaur will walk with me then," I recalled my Pokemon back into their Pokeballs & Brandon recalled both his Squirtle & Growlithe. Growlithe was also tired from being up early in the morning with Amber.
"This way." After 20 minutes of endless walking & Brandon leading the way, I was beginning to get frustrated. "Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur protested & wanted to go the other way.
It was hell, traveling with these two. Brandon & Bulbasaur had been argueing the whole time, one wanting to go one way, & the other wanting to go another. "Enough! Brandon you have been leading us for twenty minutes & we're still stuck here! Bulbasaur shall lead the way from here!" Brandon crossed his arms at me & huffed like a child.
He wore a frown on his face the whole time Bulbasaur led us around. My Bulbasaur examined trees, bushes & even the leaves on the floor we came across. Probably making sure we weren't going in circles & passing by the same place over & over.
As we continued on, a bee Pokemon flew by us harmlessly, but somehow, the idiot traveling with me known as Brandon thought it would be a good idea to fight it, as he had been doing with every Pokemon we came across.
"Brandon!" I scolded, but he paid no mind to me.
"Squirtle!" he released Squirtle & the turtle Pokemon landed on the floor clumsily. "Water Gun!" His Pokemon obeyed immediatley, & doused the Beedrill with water. The Beedrill turned her attention to us, & did not seem very happy about being hit with a Water Gun, although it didn't seem to do much damage. She buzzed & buzzed; it appeared as if she was dancing around. "Squirtle! Now use-" Brandon was interrupted by a buzzing sound. It was loud, & hurt my ears. Bulbasaur began to freak out, & I returned him because he seemed so frightened & uneasy.
Then I saw what he was freaking out about.
A big swarm of Beedrill were approaching fast, at Brandon & I. My jaw dropped & Brandon took a few steps back, obviously scared.
"Look what you've done..." I gasped. He picked up Squirtle in his hands, & whispered,"Run." Brandon & I ran as fast as we could, but the Beedrill were gaining on us.
"Brandon! We can't keep running! They're catching up!" I cried. He whirled around & let Squirtle out of his arms. "Well?! Release a Pokemon!" he yelled at me.
I looked at my belt, & picked off what I hoped what Charmander's Pokeball, & I was thankfully right. "Bubble!" Brandon commanded. "Ember!" Charmander did as he was told & the attacks hurt a few Beedrill but were not enough.
"One more time guys!" Brandon & I said in unison. This time their attacks seemed to hurt a lot of Beedrill, stopping the swarm.
"We... We did it," I sighed in relief, letting a small smile curl up on my face. But then it turned into a frown. "They're getting up." Brandon snatched up Squirtle in his arms. I picked up Charmander, & we turned & ran again. I took a quick glance behind & now the Beedrill looked even angrier.
They were closing in, fast.
We were gonna die.
I heard one of them buzzing right by my ear. I looked back & was horrified to see a Beedrill right by me, with its huge stingers just inches away from my face. Charmander used Ember on it, making it fall behind. "Thanks," I panted. Suddenly we reached a dead end. To the left & right sides of us, were trees grown so close together that we could not run in that direction, leaving us stuck. Like sitting ducks. Psyducks, to be exact.
"This is it... Charmander, get out of here! Go!" I pushed him away, but he stood in front of us, narrowing his eyes at the Beedrill. Was he crazy? There was no way he could take them on!
Just as the swarm of Beedrill came, & Charmander had used a Ember, his only fire attack on them, something marvelous happened.
