#16 | no more gym cleaning

02:46, 16 July 2025

─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

today is the last day.

the last day you two have to clean the gym together.

you hadn't expected it to come so quick. your stomach churned when the realization hit you in the face.

you sat in your last period of class. silently toying with your pencil and using it to doodle small stick figures on the corner of your paper.

without even knowing, you started drawing you and barou. holding hands. with two cats and a puppy.

you got his facial expressions and hair down to the strands and angry eyebrows. then drew your facial expressions next to him.

you set your pencil down and sighed indefinitely. are you seriously drawing this stuff?

your thoughts drifted to the fact you may not see or talk to barou every day after today. i mean considering the two of you have no classes together.

you bit the inside of your mouth, resting your head on your hands that were laying on the desk.

the bell rang five minutes later, you were packed a ready to bolt out of that class to run to the gym.

funny, i know.

you sprang up and speed walked out of the class, earning irritated glances and stares from your peers around you.

you opened the door to the gym, strutting in like you were on a runway. you set your bag down next to the bench.

you were the first one here. for once.

you grabbed a broom from the storage closet and started sweeping the trash and dust off the ground.

you wiped your forehead and felt a presence looming around you. you turned your head and saw barou standing directly behind you. your body was still facing the opposite way.

"barou?" you tilted your head to the side and raised a brow.

barou was surprisingly quiet and...

nervous?

he fidgeted with the end of his shirt and ran a hand through his hair.

"y/n... uh..." he gulped and paused, as if to find words to say. "i need to talk.. to you."

you fully turned towards him and set the broom against the wall, putting your hands on your hips and flicking your head up for a moment, as if to say, "go on."

"so uh... i know this is the last day and all... but i think... fuck..." he rubbed a hand over his face and muttered small curses to himself.

"i think..."

'god damnit barou spit it out already'  his mind was yelling.

"i think i fell for you.."

there was a silence. a loud silence. louder than any of the times he's yelled at you. or the times he violently scrubbed the ground with the wet mop.

no, this silence was deadly. and he knew it.

you stood stoic, eyes widened like he just killed your whole family. your gaze didn't break from him.

your arms fell to your sides and twitched every other second.

the silence broke for a second, with a desperate, pleading response. "please.. respond..."

you opened your mouth to speak. your heart hammered against your chest and you felt your hands get clammy.

"barou.. i..." you stopped mid sentence, your breathe hitching. "i.."

barou felt his heart drop to the pits of his stomach. he swallowed the growing lump in his throat.

"i..." you couldn't find words to say, "i like you too.."

if it were in barou's terms, the world stopped.

the birds stopped chirping, but not in the type of way that they did before.

it felt like the sun started coming out more.

no, correction.

in his eyes, you were the sun.

he was the moon, the dark mysterious side. you were the only one who got to see his sunny side. the only one who got to see him smile. the only one who got to see him laugh.

you were the only one in his eyes.

no one else was there when you were there.

it was like his body moved on its own. he closed the small space between you two and cupped your face in his hands.

then he kissed you.

but not like any casual kiss; this was desperate, needy, like he's been waiting for this for decades. one of his rough hands roamed down to your waist, pulling you in closer so you two were chest to chest.

unlike his demeanor, his lips were as soft as honey on a summer day. the type you could never get enough of. your hands ran through his gelled up hair and he let out a small groan on your lips.

his lips ravished you like you were some god he was supposed to worship.

when the kiss broke, a string of saliva connected the two of you.

a flash of desperation flashed across his face. the kiss broke once, yet he wanted more. your lips, addicting like a drug. or like an addiction he could never get rid of.

he didn't know when he fell for you.

but he fell.

hard.

and now these hours you both would call rivalry hours, were now over.

but the thing between the two of you was just starting.
